Yes, they do have a lifetime warranty. I ordered a new one from Rock Auto right before I posted the story above ^^ lol. It should arrive friday. Should be all good, just a pain in the ass since I have to ship a CV axle. Hopefully they issue me a refund. The Trakmotive CV "for lifted vehicles" actually worked super well until I put the extra 1inch strut spacer on. No issues until now. I think I'm going to remove the 1in strut spacers. Even though its nice not having a noticeable rake, I didn't have any CV axle problems for years. As I mentioned, within 5k miles of driving (about 30% on dirt roads with some trails - and the rest on paved roads) I totally f'd a CV axle. I don't think it's a coincidence. If anyone else has anecdotal information regarding the maximum lift, or lift combinations, I'd be curious to hear. Would be sweet if a 0.5inch strut spacer existed and also didn't cause issues with CV angles. Would like to get rid of the rake. Sorry to slightly hijack the thread here, just figured suspension options and anecdotes are worth mentioning.

Moral of the story, 2in suspension lift in the front is totally good to go. 2in suspension lift with 1in strut spacer - pushes your CV Axle out of it's threshold and isnt reliable. 4 years ago I installed a suspension lift in the front and rear of my 1999 Infiniti QX4. I went with 2in AC springs with KYB stock travel struts in the front. I went with heavy duty Land Rover Springs and Bilstein 33-185552 extended travel shocks in the rear. After several years, the setup still felt pretty good (have driven about 80k miles). I got a solid 2.5inches out of the rear suspension lift, potentially 3inches (never accurately measured). The front AC springs lifted about 1.75inches. The QX4 always had a rake, with the rear being noticeably taller than the front. Never really bothered me. From the start, the front would top out if I hit a bump or dip going too fast. This caused parts of the shock mount/tower, strut bearing, and strut to need replacing, but after at least 60k miles of pretty rigorous driving on dirt roads and the occasional (somewhat) gritty trail. The rear did not have any issues until recently, when I noticed the rear shock bushings were worn out - the top eyelet on both rear shocks had "ovaled" itself over time since I had installed them without fabricating/modifying the shock mount or bushing to be able to install the bushing sleeve the bilsteins came with. I ordered and installed new eyelet bushings to both shocks, installed the bushing sleeves, bought 0.5in bolts with a nut (and some washers) and drilled out the shock mount so the bolt would fit snuggly in the sleeve and also through the shock mount. The rear feels great again. Recently, for some stupid reason, decided to install a 1inch strut spacer (from SF creations) in the front to level the rake. Successfully installed the dumb spacers and the QX4 not longer has a rake. QX4 drove fine, but I did need to install camber bolts (1 on each side, could probably use 2 on each side to really dial in the camber) to get the alignment straight. Wheels are within camber spec but from a visual they look like they could be more level if two camber bolts on each side were to be installed. Today, while making a turn on flat asphalt, I heard a loud pop and then non-stop popping, clunking coming from the front right side. I had a guy in a parking lot look while I turned the wheel slowly, and also drove slowly. We pin pointed the noise, its a totally exploded CV axle outer joint. I have the Trakmotive "high articulation" CV axles, which I ran for the 80k miles leading up to this with no issue (one torn boot at about 60k mi). But within about 5k miles of installing the 1in spacer, the boots started looking like they were suctioning (not accordion-ing properly). Now the CV has exploded. Moral of the story, 2in suspension lift in the front is totally good to go. 2in suspension lift with 1in strut spacer - pushes your CV Axle out of it's threshold.

Old Man Emu front strut help

The guy called me back and said they don't have those parts anymore. Confirming that they no longer exist, at least here on the west coast of the US -
Old Man Emu front strut help

I ran into this same scenario just the other day. I ordered the OME N146S/N145S struts from 4x4 parts about a week ago. A guy from 4x4 parts called two days ago to confirm the part numbers and vehicle fit. He said they don't update their site and to check ARB for fitment. He also said the 4x4 parts inventory lists the part as discontinued, however he could see ARB had two OME N145S struts in stock. -- I had been using NPORA and this forum to determine the part numbers that would work/fit my 99 Infiniti QX4. So, I called him back and told him if he can order the parts, please do. This was today, so we'll see what he says tomorrow and I'll post back. Will let you know. -
Update: Both Tire Carriers have been sold. Glad I was able to save them from the scrap yard and they're going to good use! In the meantime, I have an r50 OEM brushguard for sale as well. Asking $150, it's in great shape and I believe is aluminum (based on the weight - it's slightly lighter than it looks however not 100% sure). Contact me if you or someone you know is interested, open to shipping however buyer will pay shipping costs. - Carl (310)469-8971

Ok so update: Carrier #1: I've been informed that this tire swing only fits WD21 pathfinders (pre-1996) Carrier #2: Confirmed, this tire swing will fit any 96-04 pathfinder. Thanks r50JR and ZackZack. I've been toying with the swing arm + hitch extension combo with the mounted tire swing. Seems like it'd work super well and come out clean, however definitely not cheap. If anyone knows of someone looking for a WD21 tire swing, send them my way! I'd sell this thing for real cheap, just need it gone at this point haha. Thanks team, send questions my way if needed.

R50 Tire Carrier Mod: Let's settle this!
Carl_99QX4_yeww replied to hawairish's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
I've got two carriers pulled from junkyards the other day. Couldn't let them go to waste so if anyone has any ideas on what to do with them let me know! -
Hey Fam, I have two Rear Tire Carriers recently pulled from a junk yard. I pulled all the hardware as well. Was wondering if there is any interest in these things still? Figured with the r50 build wave they might be sought after but who knows?! Carrier #1). - pic -- Looks like the red pathfinders tire carrier in this google search From what I think was a 93 pathfinder (label in the junkyard was definitely wrong bc it said 97) It looked like a 90-95 pathfinder. The carrier's mounting brackets are slightly more square due to the body style of the 90-95 pathfinders compared to the 96-02's. All hardware included. OEM locking lug nuts included. The pathfinder looked just like this Carrier #2). - picture -- Looks like the black pathfinders tire carrier in this thread From an 02 pathfinder. In theory, it would fit any 96-02. All hardware included. I'd like to mount the 02 carrier to my 99 Qx4, however I don't think it's possible to have a rear mounted mountain bike rack AND a rear tire carrier. What do you all think? I'd like to keep my mountain bike storage on the rear end of the truck since it's mostly unused space. The roof racks make your truck crazy tall and inside is where I sleep. Just throwing all this out into the internet cosmos lookin for ideas.

Just an update, I've been using the bolts directly inside the bushing inner diameter and it's been working pretty well for about 7 months now, no bushing sleeve present. I am curious about the sleeve and if anyone has found one yet, but just to reinsure everyone, you don't need one to make it work.

Hey team, I have a 99 Infiniti QX4, 4x4 w/ electronic transfer case. So for about two months I've had an intermittent "hissing" sound come from the under the dash, near the brake pedal during cold starts and occasionally while driving. The sound goes away as soon as the brake pedal is pressed lightly. The sound sometimes is heard while driving (but much less often than on the cold start), and will also go away when the brake pedal is pressed lightly. After reading a few forum threads, it sounds like there is a potential vacuum leak in the Brake Booster and/or valve nearby the brake booster, or that the booster is starting to fail. All the forums I came across did not have conclusive threads as to what fixed the issue so here I am asking you all what I should check first and if you all have any recommendations. Brake function has not changed since I began hearing this sound, the brake pedal seems to work the same as it did before with no loss of braking power or pedal play changes. Please let me know what you think! All information is appreciated and accepted. Thanks team!

Did you ever figure out the 5125 Sleeve size dilema? I'm gathering needed parts for the 5125 (185552) rear shock install
-
Did you ever figure out where to find bolts to fit the modified 12mm mount?
