  1. The fuel gauge was simply the sending unit. It is available from Nissan. It is pricey though

I pulled the entire unit out of the gas tank of a junk yard 94 pathfinder... $20

I just have to make time to change it out - but I have to fix an ignition starting problem before tryign to fix anything else

I have to be abe to turn the key every time and it start - like when it was brand new ..

its a relay wiring problem - its not the starter relay -

i i think it has to do with the 3 relays on top - in the fuse box - the far right relay -

my mechanic friend - says probably best to just reroute through the alarm / ignition to starter and put in better relays and maybe even put in a Start Button

but you have to work with the alarm system

this ignition starting problem is a know problem --

numerous years ago - it happened 3-4 times a year - now its daily - sometimes I have to Push Start it and thats not easy by yourself

so i cant even go to grocery store - not knowing if its going to start when to go to leave the parking lot..

i havent pulled out all my hair --

this is a great 4x4 with ABS thats has saved me numerous times ..

5 speed - runs strong and even stronger with the way I built the new engine

  2. Negative - I have not been able to fix the odometer not turning problem - although the Digital trip odometer has worked sometimes again .. it also has stopped turning

I am thinking the problem is at the Rearend -- ABS

47900-92G20 - Abs wheel speed sensor (rear)

My ABS light is now on and my ABS is not working

the part is very pricey - I think 300$ - not sure if Nissan can even get it anymore

this is a serious problem - I have no idea how many miles i am driving - risk of running out gas -

plus i still have the ignition problem

and my gas gauge isnt working

I just built a New Engine last year and I cant drive this anywhere because - no gas gauge / no odometer turning

I can drive it to work and back - like 6 times then fill up - but I cant do road trips to go camping or to the beach - no mileage reading ..

but i have an ignition problem - so thats #1 problem to fix right now

    this all sucks ..

  3. Frenchy

And if you wonder why I say it's not that bad, I bought my 93 for $1000 and by the time I am finished with it I will have $20,000 invested into it

I bought my 94 4x4 5-Speed SE with Off Road Sport Package - from the Son of the Owner of a Nissan Dealership - it had 11,000 miles 9 months old

    $20,000 even

He sold it to go to College

Couldn't find anyone that wanted to buy it because it was a 5-speed

We meet - the next morning we meet at my bank

    I've probably put $20,000 into since 1994 - 30 yrs -

to include a recent New Engine - after 310,000 miles ( rings cracked )

    pulled an engine out of a junk yard 1994 4x4 5-Speed - ( $400 ) verified Vin match

Decked the block and cut heads a little more / Bord Cylinders / new pistons / rings

Plus a 6 angle valve job - 3 angles on seats and 3 angles on the valves

Rebuilt 5-speed - the 1st/2nd synchro gear snapped and main shaft had a hair line crack in it - so i had the shaft replaced and all the synchro gears replaced

Transfer Case is Solid - I was told probably one of the best ever made

The New Motor sounds great and its fast

30 yrs - 95% Garage keep - except my time living at Telluride, CO

Interior looks fantastic / paint looks brand new ( i use to also do body shop work & detailing )

I use to be an old school automotive machinist / muscle car years

    1971 Camero 450hp 202 heads .488/512 cam / 6 angle valve job / decked block / cut heads / Bord Cylinders .30 pistons / 4-speed muncie / .411 posi / ladder bars & cross-bar / sub-frame connectors / 3 " exhust to the rear axle  / 31" rear tires

    AC & Power Brakes

Bad-Ass - sounded so mean - rocket off the line - it would pull the front wheels off the ground

Fri / Sat night open headers 1/4 mile Street Racing when the cops really didnt care

    those were the days

  4. CODES

I do not see a Code for ABS -- Unless this is the ABS Code ( 14 Vehicle Speed Sensor. )

    For V6:
    1. Turn the ignition switch on, but do not start the engine. All of the lights in the dash should be on.

    2. For VG30E with slotted switch: Turn the 'diagnostic mode selector' screw on the ECU fully clockwise. The check engine light will go out. Wait 5 seconds, then turn the screw fully counter clockwise.

    3. After it blinks both LED's 3 times move the toggle switch back to the on position. After about five seconds it will start to output out the diagnostic codes as with the 4-cylinder ECU. Note each code as it is displayed, the red LED flashing once for 10's, and the green LED flashing once for 1's. Meaning: One red flash and two green flashes means code 12.

    4. To clear the ECU of any trouble codes, move the switch to the "DIAGNOSTICS" position then back to the "ON" position and turn off the key.

  5. Look at your rear axle and you will see it wrapped around the pinion on the axle. It's a pricy thing.

    ABS Sensor.jpg

Now I am wondering if the ABS Wheel Speed Senor is BAD - that is effecting BOTH the ABS ( light on ) and now not working along with the Odometer Not Turning

  6. Slartibartfast

    The fluid level is prefect

How do I know the ABS is not working

Well if I'm going 50 mph and hit the Brakes the Brakes lock and the tires skid - that has never happened - plus i dont feel the clicking in the pedal

The ABS light is constantly on -

Before this light STAYED on - it would flash right after starting and then the light went off.

The ABS yes is only the rear wheels - but it WORKS Great when needed ..

  7. Hi

    1994 Pathfinder 4x4 5-Speed

    Odometer - Not Turning

    Trip Meter - Not Turning

A while back ( years ago ) The Odometer would take a few miles ( several ) to turn over from a 10,000 - like from 199,999 to 200,000

Then as time went by it would take more mile to turn over even at a 1,000 mile change

Now the Odometer does not turn over at all - not even 1 mile

The Trip meter was though Working - therefore everytime I filled up - I set the Trip Meter to ZERO and when it got near 190-200 miles - Id go fill up and reset the trip meter

NOW - YES the Trip Meter STOPPED turning

I now have NO IDEA HOW MANY MILES I am driving and therefore RISKING Running out of GAS - BECAUSE My GAS GAUGE is ALSO NOT WORKING !!!

    HELP !!!!!

How DO I fix the Odometer and Trip Meter - Problem

Gas gauge - I took a Fuel Pump unit out of junk yard 94 Pathfinder - but Ive been lazy in swapping it out

I was told the Gas gauge unit is attached to Fuel Pump - is this correct ?

    Help - Please

    Robert

  8. Hi

91-95 Nissan Pathfinder ABS Control Module 47850 92G00 OEM

    https://parts.nissanusa.com/a/Nissan__/89924895__10618284/ANTI-SKID-CONTROL/D21_US_476A.html

I do not currently have ABS working on my 1994 Pathfinder 4x4 5-Speed

Is possible the ABS Control Module has gone bad

Does anyone know where it is located and if there is another possibility

    Thanks

    Robert

Recent New Engine after 300,000+ miles

  9. What Year is this

    2023

I FINALLY bypassed the Clutch Dampener - that was leaking off and on - even after tightening the 4 side plate bolts

and getting tired of adding fluid

And after one day - when I realized my Clutch line fluid was draining fast - almost got back home - had to push it 1/4 mile and into the driveway

I put in the Union Piece - although It leaked a lot more

I had to bend the bottom line so it would line-up more straight so it wouldnt leak

    Hopefully it doesn't leak

It seems to work just fine

    94 4x4 SE

    New Engine

    9-2022

    Decked Block

Cut Heads down a little more then usual

  10. I just got under the dash and pushed the Clutch switch in with my finger and turned the key and it started - started several times

so I turned the Clutch Switch bracket down so it hits the clutch pedal more direct

and it started up several times

    but again its not starting

I changed out the Clutch switch - but heck I cant remember how i did it -

the nut is on the backside of the bracket and you cant get a wrench to turn - no room at all

I just remembered - you have to take the bracket off the wall to remove the Clutch switch off the bracket ..

have to get ready to go to work - ( hopefully it starts )

I'll have to fool with this more tomorrow..

  11. Ive changed the Clutch switch

You also habe the inhibit bypass switch on the dash as long as you keep it in neutral(unless you want to move on startup)

Is that inhibit bypass switch - is for when you are in a difficult position in 4x4 and you turn the key to the crank position then push that button with out having to push in the clutch and it starts up

THAT Button is called "Inter-Lock" is NOT Working - Is THAT what is causing the Problem ?

this starting problem doesnt happen all the time but it is happening more and more often lately

I have no idea what is or where is " inhibit bypass switch " unless you are talking abt that Inter-Lock Button on the left side of the dash ?

  12. Well sense i'.m on the roll

Odometer started having issues turning over every 1,000

    1/26/2019

    First time it happened

    269,999

it took abt 30 miles to turn over to 270,000

    again 279,999

took longer to turn over to 280,000

290,000 took abt 250 miles to turn over to 290,000

and every 1,000 after 290,000 it is taking 200-300 miles to turn over to the next 1,000 -- 291,292,293,294

right now I'm waiting again to turn over to 300,000

this problem started almost 4 yrs ago at 270,000

every 1,000 miles takes abt 200-300 to turn over

    Calculate

    30,000 / 1,000 x 250 ( est )

    that's abt 7,500-8,000 un-registared miles

    300,000 now + 8,000 - 2,000 on new engine - means Original Engine went to abt 305-306,000

How do i fix this Odometer sticking problem

  13. Ed - yes I replaced the Distributor ( 6/6/18 ) - with an AutoZone distributor and it fixed that problem immediately

My Nissan parts guy that ive know for 30 yrs told me a AutoZone distributor will not work in these Pathfinders and you need a Junk Yard Pathfinder distributor or Buy a New one from a Nissan Dealer ( me ) ---

Well it worked for me ( he retired 3 months ) but I still have another long time parts guy there that has a few yrs before retiring

fast Forward 4 yrs - I just rebuilt a Junk Yard Motor - I burned 3 pistons the rings broke in my original engine ( 300,000 ) ruined the cylinders and heads - clogged lifters

I knew there was major problem with my engine before even pulling it - thats why I pulled an engine from a junk yard pathfinder and rebuilt that Engine ..

I know an Excellent Machinist in McKinney, TX - he builds 3,000 hsp engines

New Engine cranked on Sept 4 2022 -- 3 weeks later - my tech has started jumping at 3000-3500-4000 rpm in 3rd gear ( std trans )

but i kept that original nissan pathfinder distributor off that junk yard motor

I think I am going to Warranty that Autozone Distributor - thats one reason to get Autozone - get a New FREE Replacement Distributor

  14. lamo
