I'm surprised the interior on an '03 LE looks so different from my '02 LE. I have fakey plastic "wood" trim that I've wanted to either wrap, paint or put those precut stickers or carbon fiber covers on but have been too cheap to do so. Is that real wood? Aargh!!! When I get time, I'll go over to Das Mule & see if they can do the fab work I need to attach a WJ bumper for me. Once that's done, I'll start rolling on the suspension & other stuff. The stock hitch is a good one. I choose it over other aftermarkets because it has those two additional long arms that reach farther up the frame. Plus it has the nice step. I put mine on & wired the harness about 15 years ago but I recall it being a pretty straight forward one man job. Really looking forward to the suspension. I was camping with my son last Friday/Sat up near Salmon La Sac & ran into the Overland Bound Crew. They did the trail up to Gallagher Lake but I didn't join as I didn't think my saggy old suspension would be able to do it. To clean my windshield from the incredible amount of dust I would have to get out & spray it with a Camelback bottle with a jet valve-really need to do that washer fluid reservoir! Where & how did you relocate the reservoir? I need to do this. ExBrit used a generic radiator overflow but I'm not quite sure where he put it. I smashed my OEM bumper & broke the washer fluid reservoir anyway & I need to relocate it for a WJ bumper. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

More like $1,400 but it can be a little difficult to find a fabrication shop to do it. I'm trying to avoid the Sahara Bar & not making great traction finding a fabricator to modify a Jeep WJ for me. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Welcome! My 2002 LE is my 3rd car ever & it followed a '93 Maxima SE 5sp (a 280ZX prior to that) so we've got some car history in common. That head unit in the Maxima was a pain, I had to change mine out too. The stock Bose in the Path is pretty lame. Mine still works but I'm thinking about putting a Pioneer BHS in it so I can run Waze for Nav, stream Pandora & wire in a backup Cam & rock/diff Cam. What did you use to mount that tablet, I can't tell what it's attach.ed to. I used a Panavise for my cell phone mount with a Scosche tablet magnet & that worked nice for the phone. I too am looking for bumpers, particularly a front winch bumper. I find the ARB Sahara Bar a bit too heavy, bulky, lacking recovery points, requiring winch clocking to mount and kind of dated in appearance. I am particularly interested in the WJ bumpers that have been modified (I think that includes TheExBrit, CDN_S4 & Enjoi408). Personally I want a winch bumper with 2 recovery points, integrated light space to mount my own LEDs, a smallish top bar to mount an LED light bar (a cut out for a light bar would be great too but I don't think those work in WJs or R50s-I see them in T4Rs) and I would like it to mount up nicely with the body work on the sides. My understanding is that a WJ bumper will require shortening the mounts (& likely welding them to the frame) and bending the lateral wings out slightly. For aesthetics it requires relocating the wiper washer fluid reservoir & modifying the air intake or at least removing the resonators.

Admittedly, we do have the bonus of abundant natural water sources here!

For my info: I thought Optimas were gel pack batteries & didn't Off gas which was why you could even put them in the cab.I've had one Red Top for a decade without issues. I've been running a Yellow Top for about 8 years & have just recently noticed problems with holding a charge. Haven't taken time to definitively determine if it's the battery, the alternator or my quick disconnect which has been coming loose more & more often. In the last year my 5 year old would sometimes turn on the inverter I have wired under the passenger seat & those run downs did the battery no favors. Since I only use the truck periodically I have been keeping the battery alive with an onboard float charger & it's been okay. (Though I occasionally lug around my wife's old battery I keep float charging in garage if I'm running errands I can't count on or afford the time to find someone to jump me.) If I need to replace the battery, any recommendations? When I last converted my vehicles it was about a decade ago & red & yellow tops were essentially the best. I ultimately went with yellow tops as I ran auxiliary lights which could drain the battery down a bit & I found all the fancy electronics on my wife's 09 MDX meant it wouldn't start if you simply left the radio on while cleaning it. I know times have changed & I'm open to suggestions. I'm also going to look at those portable jump packs as I hear they've come a long way in the past decade as well. Enjoyed reading through your build. I think it may have inspired me to go ahead and try and do my suspension work myself!!

I've had a low profile basket directly mounted to my rails (between the load bars) for 15 years without problem. I used stainless steel hardware & angle iron to hold it in place at the four corners (it is essentially impossible to clean my roof under it-the NW climate makes everything grow-including my roof). All that said, it doesn't see hard core wheeling-it's more of an Overlander rig. I too would like to put on limb risers as I used to wheel in the desert, but now I'm in the PacNW. A full expedition rack is too costly & probably doesn't exist for a R50 anyway. I was thinking of something like Stioc's Rolla hard mounted to the rails but kind of hate to give up use of the sunroof-also, I need a hard mount at the front of the hood as there aren't Path bull bar bumpers anymore. IIRC? Also, I've been doing a ton of research for lifting an '02 but this is the first time I've heard of a JGC lift. I thought there was basically only OME & AC (though I thought I ran across a mention of something like BDS). By sheer coincidence, I just so happen to have a 2006 WK JGC that I'm going out to harvest in a couple weeks. I thought it's lift was a 2" TerraFlex. Can you point me in the direction of the JGC-Pathfinder crossover info.

We haven't committed quite yet but once we do I'll be happy to give you what I've learned. It almost convinced me to put my Path's value toward a GX build of my own but I'm sentimental & all I've personally owned (wife aside) are Nissans for 33+ years. GXs are a great value to buy used but you pretty much have to commit to a lift, rails & front off road bumper (& they're expensive) just to consider it. I think you really want to replace the rear air bags & probably the rear bumper too (also expensive though fantastic quality at MetalTech4x4 for all the armor). I'll stop as we're way off thread here but, once I get my hands dirty, I should be a pretty good resource. I've actually consumed more GX Info this mo than Path stuff as her Jeep WJ died an unexpected death & we were going to Overland with it in Southern UT this Sept.
