  1. Bull Bar? All you need is a roll of duck tape. :cool2: I don't see why it wouldn't fit.
  2. I have a five speed manual on my 2001 and was wondering if it was ok to start out in 2nd gear? I have always had a manual tranny but they have always been in compact cars so the shifting has always been short from one gear to the next….But on my Pathfinder I have noticed that shifting from 1st to 2nd is almost instant and sometimes jerky. So I have experimented with starting out in 2nd and shifting to 3d which the time between shifting is longer and smoother. (I use to do this in an old Bob truck we had) I always shift around 2500 rpms. So I was just wondering if starting out in 2nd will hurt my transmission?
  3. New???? Well my 2001 dosn't make alot of noise....it sounds like your car was made on a friday....just kidding....I couldn't help you much with the 4 wheel drive question b/c I only have 2 wheel drive, but at far as gas consumtion I average 150 to 180 at half a tank....and anywhere from 300 to 350 on "E"...this breaks down to about 17 to 18 mpg's....I have actually reached 21 mpgs a couple of times if I watch my driving and the way I shift.
  4. I have used 93 oct as of day one when I bought my Nissan...if I use anything less it pings and being a 5 speed manual you really notice it. Anyway I don't think the oct level really effects the sensor. "The car was less then 2 years old and 36k on it with 4 sensors blown".......lemon law maybe? I think this is just a bad part on 01-up Pathfinder per what the guy at Nissan hinted. Also I notice a differance in the way my car ran when the O2 sensor went bad. well hopefully now I can rest easy that the problem is fixed.
  5. Yes, I got it fixed. It was the rear o2 sensor bank2 sensor2 code po158...And I tell you what I really lucked out too. O2 sensors are only covered under your 3 year 36,000 mile warranty, unless you have an extended warranty.....which I didn't...and I had 38,000miles on my Nissan.....But I did get lucky because apparently the rear O2 sensors are a problem, because the service guy fixed it for free under what they call a Goodwill Warranty...which basically means they will fix it for free but in return they will send you a service survey and you will have to mark excellent on everything...which was fine with me if they fix it for free...saved me $180.00....$60.00 for the part and $120.00 for labor....they said 2 hours but it only took they 15 min....Anyway I got the survey the other day and mailed it right back....But if you get any of those error codes you listed you will have to replace the O2 sensor...good luck.
  6. I have the same BFG AT's and I'm very happy with them. Mine are a little more narrow then the stock tires where, but also a little taller, and I haven't noticed to much difference in handling. The ride is smooth, and it feels like I have more control in wet weather then with the stock tires.
  7. Squam, you got to use the 93 oct. ha ha. Anyway I always use 93 oct because if I don't it pings, so I know that is not the reason for my SES light. I have been researching the code and discovered it could possibly be one of two things. First both O2 sensors could be bad but highly unlikely with only 38k, or I also found that it could be a bad ground. I also looked at the Nissan service bulletin and it seems like this a problem with our pathfinders. I guess I'll find out this weekend when I take my car to Nissan for an oil change. I hope it's covered under my powertrain warranty.
  8. Service Engine Soon Light came on again for the 3d time. This time my friend printed out the screen with the error codes which I included in the post. Anybody have any ideas on what this mean when it comes to my O2 sensor? I'm going to Nissan next weekend to change my oil and I will ask them too. I have a feeling I'll have to replace both rear O2 sensors which will suck, only 38k, but I think it might be covered under my power tran. warranty.
  9. Well, I have called them several times and they told me the same thing. That they were waiting on the supplier. They told me to call back about once a week and as soon as they come in they will ship them.
  10. Question? Has anyone had any trouble ordering from Rock Road Outfitter.com? I order a set of OLD MAN EMU rear springs for my 2001 and I'm get some real slow and poor service. Just wanted to know if anyone has had similar experiences?
  11. Lad5, did your Service Engine Soon light come back on, or have you checked the codes again? Just wondering what happened? I noticed you had something about the P1110 MFR CRRLLED FUEL AND AIR METERING, and I was just wondering if that could have had anything to do we a vacuum leak in your fuel system or maybe your fuel cap wasn't on tight. Because that might have effected the O2 sensors as well. :allclean:
  12. Actually you have four different locations. Bank 1 Sensor 1 and 2, Bank 2 Sensor 1 and 2. How do you know the sensor is bad? The reason I ask is because on my 2001 Pathfinder the check engine light came on and it said it was the o2 sensor. My friend and I cleared the code and it has not come back. We figured it had something to do with low fuel and a different grade of gas because everything else looked good on his computer and everything is back to normal. My 01 only has 38,ooo mile. Just wondering.
  13. Well, on my way back from Dallas my SES light came on again, but this might have been do to the fact that I had less then 3 gallons of gas left in the tank before we filled it up. The SES light came on when I was way past "E" on my gas gauge. Needless to say, when I got back home the first thing I did was hook it up to my buddies' computer. He has a program that reads what your car is doing. The only code that came on was something about an O2 sensor in bank 2 sensor 2. It showed at 99.2%. My friend cleared the code for me and the SES light has not come on in the last 3 days, but we tested it to day and bank 2 sensor 2 still shows 99.2% as well as bank 1 sensor 2, but there are no error code and the SES light has was not on. My question is, is this normal? Bank 1 sensor 1 and Bank 2 sensor 1 show any where between 1 to 15% when car is driving/stopped, but bank 1 sensor 2 and bank 2 sensor 2 only show 99.2% at both driving and stop? All the sensor are showing to work as far as getting power but is the 99.2% correct?
  14. Thanks. I filled it up with gas again today and the SES light went off on my way to autozone to get it checked. -thnkboutit-
  15. Hey, I just drove from Memphis to Dallas and on my why the SES light came on. It came on 5 minutes after I filled up with a full tank of gas, but also right after I shift from 5th to 4th to change a CD in my CD player. Question?....I double check the fuel cap add made sure it was on tight, also disconnected the battery and reconnected it but the light its still on. If it was the gas cap how long untill the light goes out? Also could shifting it from 5th gear to 4th at highway speeds 70mph cause the SES light to come on? Thanks for any help. If it's still on tomorrow I might just stop by Autozone and have them check it. Thanks.
  16. Thanks. I just wanted to make sure it was the right one.
  17. Can someone tell me where to get a service manual for a 2001 Pathfinder. Will the Hayen Nissan Pathfinder 1996 to 2001 work for My 3.5 2001 Pathfinder? Thanks
  18. Check the lugs also. Sometimes it takes about 100 to 200 miles for the lug nuts to set properly in the wheel, and they can work themselves loose. This is more frequent with aluminum wheels. Just something to check
  19. Well, I installed my new fuel filter the other the day. It was $15.00 dollars or so from the local Nissan Dealer and took myself about 30 minutes to install. It was actually a little more work then I thought, but besides for a little gasoline bath it wasn’t to bad. :allclean: I did clamp the hoses but not good enough because I still had some gas come out. I think the next time I’m going to take a pencil and just stop the hose with that. I also learned something interesting from the dealer when I picked up my filter. Apparently as of the 2001 model year Nissan has been installing the fuel filters in the gas tank on all models. This was not the case for my Pathfinder even thought it is a 2001. Does anyone know why they would do this? Maybe to make it harder for the average person to change, or maybe for better filtering? Anyway, Thanks
  20. Thanks for the info Big J. I think I'm going to go with the EMU's and maybe new shocks next month in the rear. This month I'm buying a Thule Fairing for my bike rack to help with gas. squam1 I see your new picture with the lift, looks good, but that's more then I need, but at least I see what a 2 inch left in the rear looks like, and it would like kind of funny if I left the front stock. Thanks again and I'll post when I get my springs installed.
  21. should I get new shocks also or can I wait on that for a little bit?
  22. I Agree it seems a little higher then what I want, but I had a hard time finding anything else. I do want something stiffer, and a 1 inch lift is what I was really looking for. What would be a good place to order the old man emu's?.....squam1 let me know how the full kit looks and feels on your ride. But i don't want to lift the whole thing, it's only two wheel drive. I just want it for loads (people/bikes), bottoming out, and looks. :allclean:
  23. I have decided to go with a 2" rear lift on my 2001 Pathfinder. Can anyone tell me about these springs. See Link Springs
  24. From what I can tell there is only one. The Nissan parts list only shows one too. But I will double check when I pick them up.
  25. Thanks for the pic. Mine is in about the same place. Is there anything special I need to do to change it. Like fuel cut of switch and motor run until it dies? Thanks
