  1. Ok ,l well today I got a loaner working instrument cluster from my connection at LKQ to test out. Nope , still no speedo , tach , temp or anything working ( lights for check engine , etc ) across the bottom of the cluster . I do have a very faint battery light on and the fuel gauge works . tested the battery and its good , even fires right up no problem every time. thoughts .......
  2. Hmm ....... maybe a plugged cat! I have had them come in to the shop with a hard start , then fine for a while then no start /hard drive due to the inners coming apart and partially clogging the exhaust way. But ..... this is just a (possibility) . Still need the fuel pressure and spark/timing checked out before moving on.
  3. So when I bought the pathy 2 weeks ago it had factory muffler and no pipe off it ( tail pipe) . It had completely fallen off . Installed a 2 1/4 Thrush Weld (2 chamber ) muffler and new tail pipe . MUCH better ! Not noisy and droning .... just enough snort to hear it at 1/2 and up throttle . Cheap and proper. http://www.thrushexhaust.com/pdf/thrush.pdf Carry on.
  4. 95 is obd1 so Im not sure a scanner is available - just the ecu system check under the front passenger seat.
  5. Gotta pull the cluster on 95 path today . Im sure I can figure it out without a diy but just thought I would ask . Cheers
  6. Ouch - my shop specializes in BMW ( european/asian auto repair) and thankfully I have not ran into this .
  7. Subaru's .... ? Really ! Thats like the easiest one on planet earth ! Your referring to like 05 and newer ones with the new style exhaust manifold that wraps around the oil filter huh ? Still easy ..... I have a strap wrench that I wrap around it to break it loose and then finish by hand. Ford Focus ........ don't think I have done one of those .
  8. Well I find the location of the Honda Element , Accord , Civic ... basically the 16L - 2.4L Honda motors are crappy in location as well as they mae a mess all over everything . But the location of the oil filter on the 3.0L Nissan motor and its proximity to the starter is just assignin !
  9. Think Ill try and unplug the electrical from it and take alligator clips and hook it up in place with a extra car battery and see if it works. If it does , bad resistor eh ?
  10. Yup trolled all over the internet and here before I asked. So just bought this 95 XE and when I bought it the blower motor doesnt work on any speed. 2 fan fuses are good and I have voltage to the blower . Guessing its either the motor itself or the blower motor resistor ? Sound about right ?
  11. Bad sensor as stated some 4 posts back . LOL
  12. just do a fuel pressure test and be done with that theory . then move on ........
  13. Ordered a new to me cluster from my account at LKQ today for $65. If it works cool ......if not , Ill just send it back Still not sure if this is connected to my HVAC fan not working nor that I have no lighting at my HVAC cluster
  14. LOL . Just wanted to rant about how I think the designers of this V6 motor picked the worst spot ever for a oil filter . DIRECTLY over the top of the starter and damn close to its + terminal ! Now Jeeps are similar mind you but man. And I service alot of vehicles ! lol Rant over
  15. Dont know if you have a Harbor freight there but you can buy a fuel pressure set there for $30 or less.
  16. disconnect the sensor for the gauge then start the car. if the gauge stays at the bottom (doesnt peg out) then change that sensor . If it stays the same .... start tracking the wiring.
  17. temp gauge pegged means the temp sensor wire is grounded out ...... i believe .
  18. You need to perform a fuel pressure test and rule out the fuel pump.
  19. Crank position sensor has its own code ... but crank position failure can make a no start issue since it sends the pulse to the ecu that the motor is turning and the fuel pump needs to send the motor some gas
