  1. This is an excellent write up! Planning to swap the LSD rear end from my totalled 02 LE into an 04LE with an open diff. This write it saved me much hassle. Thanks again fellas. Josh Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  2. Hey guys, I currently have my totalled 2002 LE which has the LSD rear end and many other goodies. I am looking at buying a mint condition 2004 LE platinum with 80K miles but it doesn't have an LSD and I only have enough cash to fit an ARB air locker in the front diff right now with all the other upgrades (winch, bumper, compressor, dual batteries, fluerys armour, UHF) etc that I am fitting in the expedition truck. How would i be able to tell if the 02 LSD is compatable with the 04? It should be a fairly easy swap if it just bolts right up. Cheers, Josh Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  3. Thank you very much hawairish. I really appreciate the advice. I'll talk my dad through the process and hopefully we can get it fixed. Warm regards, SPC Rave Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  4. Thanks for the info fellas, It's acting really weird, the actual alarm isn't going off. It's just the constant beeping tone inside the truck along with the red security light next to the drivers left knee stuck on. It won't lock with fob or the door switches so the key is the only option to manually lock each door individually. Is there prehaps a security ecm or relay that could be causing the issues? I can't imagine the vehicle ecm would cause this with out also causing many other problems, and the truck runs fine. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  5. Hey guys, Ill make this brief, Im currently deployed to Iraq and unable to assist my family whom collectively owns 3 pathfinder, an 02, 03 and 99. My dad who lives in michigan has the 99 which recently had a sunroof leak which dumped some water down from the ceiling, he patched it up with Silicone since he never uses the sunroof. However now his central locking will not work. whenever he leaves the car overnight the battery goes flat so he has to disconnect it. The little red security light stays on and the interior alarm constantly stays on with a continuous beep. He cant lock the doors with the remote or the button on drivers door. However the car recognizes the remote because he can set off the panic alarm and stop it with the remote. The truck starts and drives fine so immobilizer is not triggered, but he has to listen to the droning alarm the whole time he is driving and battery goes flat at work etc. Any help is sincerely appreciated since I'm in Iraq and cant directly troubleshoot the problem, His moron mechanic loves to throw parts at stuff and waste what little money he has lol. 6. Thank you so much for this information. I have spent weeks digging for info on this exact install!! I have a 2004 Pathfinder I am building into an expedition truck to pull our offroad camper trailer 22,000 miles across America and Canada next year and the ARB distributer and ARB Australia both told me they couldn't guarantee that the bumper would fit because it's only listed as fitting 2000-2002 so it would be a one time non refundable sale. You have put my mind at ease!! Do you mind if I ask what which you run? I'm looking at a smittybilt X2O 12k LB winch. Are you able to send me a pic or 2 of the bumper installed. Did you paint it or leave it black??Kind regards, Josh Rave Joshuamrave@gmail.com Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  7. Hey guys, I am building an expedition pathy for a 22,000 miles trip across America and canada with our offroad trailer next year. I have a lot of parts on the wish list but most importantly is a winch bumper and winch. I want to install the ARB Sahara bumper PN: 3938020 but have been told by rocky road outfitters and several other distributers that this bumper will only fit 2000-2002 R50 Pathfinders which seems rediculous as I thought 2000-2004 R50s where identical minus a few cosmetic things?? I have found pictures and even mention of people installing this bumper on various R50s (pic below) but no one seems to know for sure. The distributer will sell me the bumper but it will be a non returnable/refundable one time sale as he can't guarantee it will fit. Does anyone have any input at all as to the differences between an 02 and 04 pathy or has anyone installed this bumper on any R50 before? Cheers, Josh Rave Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  8. Hey guys, I'm looking at a magnaflow for my 2002 R50 LE as well. I have a flowmaster 50 series Delta right now. Cats back straight to the muffler In place of the large stock muffler and then straight out the back. it sounds pretty good but was looking for a deeper sound hence the wish to switch up to a magnaflow. Let me know what you guys decide to do and maybe we can swap sounds videos or something. JR Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  9. Hey guys, I know this topic has been beat to death but I am reading some seriously differing opinions. I recently fitted an OME 1.75" lift HD springs to my 02 LE and am trying to order tires tonight. I want to go a size larger than the stock 245/65/17.... Does anyone know if 265/70/17 will fit with a 1.75" lift??? Thanks, Josh Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  10. Are you talking about a pathy with a lift or completely stock? I am installing an OME 1.75" lift tonight and would like to run the 255/65/17 size tire. Will that fit under my lift or will I need to go a touch smaller? Josh Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  11. Hey guys, I have been a Npora member for some time just came across this thread. I am using my 2002 LE R50 to pull our 2000lb off road pop-up around America with my fiance. It has Fully built motor, full OME suspension system and many other fun bits and I will be installing a large tranny cooler but I would like to also add an electric pusher fan to supplement the stock fan and cooling system. Is that possible??? i don't understand exactly why you would bother removing the stock fan except for the miniscule amount of power you might gain. Thanks for your advice, Josh Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  12. Thanks for the advice. I haven't heard or seen anything bad about them. I was aware that there is typically a 3-6 months wait but I heard that they make good products, I will look Into it more. Regards, Pvt. Rave Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  13. Thanks Kyle, I greatly appreciate. I went back and forth with my dealership and hanes repair manual and determined that it is in fact part of the sender itself. Regards, RAVE Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  14. Hi again guy, i finished the rebuild on my 02 pathy and she is running like brand new! Now i am working on my dad's 1999 pathy which is running rough and throwing codes for the knock sensor and fuel temp sensor. I know exactly where the knock sensor is and how to get at it but have received mixed info RE: the temp sensor, can anyone claify if it is part of the fuel sending unit or part of the pump itself or an individual sensor i can replace all by itself?? Thanks Pvt. Rave Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  15. These guys make awesome products! I am having a wincher and a multi carrier with swing away tire carrier and gas can mounts installed. https://tacticalarmorgroup.com/ Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  16. Got the problem fixed after another trip to the dealer and 3 to the U-pull yard. I yanked the valve covers and timing cover only to discover a missing O-ring between an oil port and the chain tensioner that alse fed oil to the valve timing solenoid..... 2 new o rings and the problem disappeared. Truck runs like brand new. About 600 miles on the motor already! Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  17. I have done a change 50 miles ago. It is right at the upper fill line and is golden clear in perfect condition. P001 comes up as intake valve timing control left bank on my reader?? I picked up 2 phase gears yesterday for $12 at the U-pull place. Will fit this week and see what happens. I also grabbed all the timing sensors and some interior parts Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  18. I've completed the rebuild. Lots of time and money later she runs like a gem .still throwing a timing code P0011 that I have narrowed down to a cam phase gear which is my fault. I soaked them in a degreaser during the rebuild that corrodes aluminium... The dealer wants $560 per gear so I'm headed to a U-pull parts place today to get both of the gears. Only the bank 1 gear is bad but the bank 2 gear was soaked as well so I don't trust it Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  19. No I didn't yet. I pick the car up tonight. I doubt I will get a full refund. I will probably leave the OEM sensor in there. That was $110. As for the rest of it. They did spend several hours trying to diagnose the problem so I can't really complain too much. I found a u-pull place with 2 pathfinders in it. They charge $6 each for cam gears. Gonna go tear into them tomorrow. I'll keep you posted. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  20. Hey Dan sorry for the slow reply. Been real busy with work and building my pathy. I'm probably just gonna go with 2.5inch suspension spacers and some good quality shocks. The spacers are around $180 and the shocks vary depending on brand. I will also be going with a reputable retread that I have used many times and is second to none. I'll include links for ya! http://pages.ebay.com/motors/link/?nav=item.view&id=272106510432&alt=web http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=161623524265&alt=web http://treadwright.com/collections/everything/products/g2416e?variant=5386760579 Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  21. Haha you sound as pissed as I am. I did exactly that and they called me this morning to tell me that it is the phase gear that controls the angle of the valve opening. I did tell them that i had soaked those cam gears in degreaser to clean them during the rebuild so hopefully that's not why they are telling me that it is bad. They want $550 for a new one and I didn't Even ask how much for them to install it as I don't own a money tree. I will do the install myself. Hopefully I can find a used one.... Junk yard maybe... I spend all $3500 I had on internals for the rebuild. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  22. Hey guys, as some of you know I just completed a full comprehensive engine rebuild of my 2002 R50 pathy. Body has 187,000 miles and engine has 210 miles as of today. When we first fired her up we got a check engine light for P0011 or intake valve timing control bank 1. I tested all sensors as described in the FSM and Haynes repair manual and found the bank 1 cam position sensor to be faulty so I replaced with a quality aftermarket sensor from airtex/Wells. The problem got better but stayed around. It especially liked throwing the code in the first 2 to 5 mins of driving. I thought hard and decided that the VVT control solenoids must not like the motor break-in oil additive that I had used upon the initial break-in so I dropped the oil at 125miles and replaced the filter with another WIX XP filter and oil with a 5W30 castrol oil. She took 5 quarts. The code stuck around so I contacted my dealer and they looked at it and determined the new $70 sensor was bad so they replaced it with an OEM one, test drove it and said it's all fixed. $297 later I made it 2 miles before it gave me the code again. I cleared it and drove another mile without a problem but I believe it will come back. Has anyone else had this problem?? I don't know what to do and am running out of cash after spending $3000 on parts during the rebuild. HELP! Regards, Pvt. RAVE US Army Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  23. Hey fellas. I have been on the forum for about 1 year. I have a 2002 Pathy LE. I just dropped the fully built motor back into her 2 days ago and so far the new motor only has 66 miles on it. I live in northern WI and its -14 right now so I also did 3 coatings of rubberized undercoat to the frame and body etc. I have a canoe rack and rear tailight guard atm but plan a 2.5 inch lift, new suspension and 32inch tires and several other goodys like a 42in baja designs light bar, digital police scanner, laser/radar detector. Dual battery setup etc. I will actually be in Virginia in June DDC03 (I see you have Virginia plates) I will be stationed at fort Eustus all summer and my Mrs will be out there as a travelling nurse also. We use my 02 as an adventure vehicle/daily driver. We will be purchasing an Aliner Travel Trailer with the offroad package next fall to do a 48 state road trip in the pathy. If you have any maintainance or repair questions direct them my way and I will gladly help if I can. I have had this brilliant little truck in a thousand pieces already and replaced just about everything that can be replaced. I love the red color of your truck btw, its really clean! Mine is a desert tan color. Kind regard, Josh Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
