Hey 0merta, there is a great place about 10 mins from my house called big falls park. Neat trails with deep ruts and some hills. Northing to serious but great scenery and a cool cliff to stop and have a beer at. I'm in Altoona WI, about 1.5 hrs from the cities. Let me know if ya wanna wheel sometime. I would assume that is the switch that tells the ECU whether or not your hood is open, if it is open and you lock the truck does the alarm chirp at you? It should chirp to tell you a door is ajar, in this case the hood. Now hold that switch down and lock again. It should lock as normal, if so... Question answered Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk

Thanks jyeager, I'm actually halfway through the build. I am sending the block and heads to a racing shop up in bloomer WI for hot tank and honing etc. I have all new valves and seals etc and .020" oversize pistons and rings. Yanked the heart of my pathy named Skippy. Thanks Omerta, I figured Vtec was an acronym from honda. I was just told the the VQ35DE has a similar technology. Hey guys. Does anyone know how many valves are in my R50 pathy. I believe the VQ35DE motor is a 24V DOHC motor? Is that correct? Also is the VQ35DE in the R50 fitted with Vtec? Hey greenda3, it excites me to hear of someone else running a basically stock truck with just 2 inch spacer lift and some larger tires as this is what I have been planning to do with my 02 LE for a while now. I'm in the middle of a complete motor rebuild then I want to lift her a bit but it gets pretty over whelming reading about guys doing SFDs and $1500 coil lifts etc. I think a 2inch spacer lift and large AT tires should be more than sufficient for weekend trail running and a long adventure trip across America with the Mrs. Did you have any trouble fitting the 33s? Hey guys, call me a newbie but I'm pretty unfamiliar with manual hubs. How do they work with the selectable auto hubs in my 02 LE 17" rims. Will i be able to run with the RR hubs in 2wd and still use the 4x4 locked option in my pathy without getting out of the truck to get out of a snowy driveway and just use the RR hubs in 4x4 for hard core off-roading? Hey guys, as some of you know I blew the motor in my 02 pathy last week when 2 of the power valve screws came loose and were sucked into a cylinder. I have order a full DNJ Engine rebuild kit with new pistons, rings, gaskets, timing kit and freeze plugs. I also went ahead and ordered a new water pump, new drive belts, new oil pan (mine is rusted and thin) 2 lots of oil, 2 filters, new iridium NGK plugs and thermostat. I figured while the motor is out I might as well replace hard to get to parts that are relatively cheap. My question is: does anyone think there is anything I haven't mentioned that I should replace or overhaul while the motor is out? Cheers, Josh Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk

Above you will see a picture of what I believe is the power valve? 2 of the 12 screws are missing and lost somewhere in the Engine.... Looks like a rebuild afterall. I guess I will attempt the spark plug extraction idea, thanks Pat. JR Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk

All hands on deck! I apologize for the late post and urgent content but I am in desperate need of help. I was at the shooting range training with my girlfriend when i went to drop her at the bowling alley for a girls night out. A 1/4 mile from the alley the pathfinder began making a ticking and then a horrible knocking sound that matched the idle speed and got louder with higher revs. I admit that I was driving hard when it happened, some fskcwit cut me off and then yelled something out his window. My juvenile 21 year old brain decided it was a thoroughly good idea to put pedal to metal, pass said Ford driving fskcwit and raise the international symbol for 'eat me' out of my pathys moonroof. I have never had an issue with this pathy until A half mile later after the rough acceleration, The noise began. I pulled into the bowling alley and called a tow truck. Had it towed to me house where i have a modest heated garage with a small but quality selection of hand tools. I have read many horror stories regarding some kind of power valve screw that comes loose in this motor and gets jammed in a valve or lifter or cylinder etc and causes enough damage that a new motor is required..... I hope this is not the case as i just swapped a motor in my landrover and sold the damn thing after a year of headaches and lost thousands on the whole deal. I didn't go in and loctite the screws yet because I was planning on a full motor rebuild with a DNJ rebuild kit this winter including new pistons, rings, pumps, gaskets etc. I don't yet have the money for the kit but I am in the process of pulling the intake manifold tonight to have a look around. I live in northern Wisconsin where snow is an ever present threat, I am riding my motorcycle until I can fix the pathy or until I ship off to army basic combat training. The 02 pathy has 184,000 miles on it. Please offer any advice, I greatly appreciate your attention and assistance. JR, (The American Born Australian, aspiring Army Aviator).
