  1. don't brand me a heretic but you could always go to a Nissan dealer and get an OEM part; afterall, how long did the first OEM part last? and it's better then letting the whole situation deteriorate and cause other damage---glenn
  2. also a shot in the dark, is there a stereo/mono control, an equalizer control? I'll bet it's something about the way the new HU is configured. Good luck. --glenn
  3. ok guys, some new ideas: cooper stt vs GY MTR? anybody have some thoughts?
  4. Thanks alot guys;my research has uncovered a few possibilities; DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE WITH THESE? 1. Pitbull "growlers" 2.Procomp "Extreme MT" 3.Pirelli Jones" Dirt Grips" THANKS !! -glenn
  5. I'll work on pics later;Don't know when it happened but probably when I ran over /backed into something;it's a spike like a nail;but you know while I can understand an iron nail being tougher than steele belted radial I have a hard time excusing a thorn taking it down; Guys, your advice is very helpful ,pPLEASE KEEP YOUR IDEAS COMING !! THANKS ! --glenn
  6. My pathy was brought to it's knees this weekend by [no joke] a cactus thorn thru the sidewall of my BFG AT KOs. I'd heard that BFGs had weak sidewalls but this is ridiculous. Can anyone rec. strongest tire? I'd like a radial and something with tolerable street noise.TreAD PATTERN DOESN'T MATTER AS TRACTION W/ ATs WAS ALWAYS ok for S. Cal deserts. Please help. THANKS !!---glenn
  7. AK... really nice !Can you tell us more about how you did your SAS? I want one too !THANKS--glenn
  8. exhaust manifold leak, which is a well known Pathy problem;prove it's not that first; good excuse to upgrade your headers; if it doesn't fix it, at least you'll have new headers. Good luck - glenn
  9. Xplorx4/ Dean: If you went w/ Mobi Arc would you upgrade alternator too? Where would you mount Mobi box ?; THANKS ! glenn
  10. Any body have an on board welder, or know someone who has one ?I have found two companies that sell them Power Gate Mobi Arc and Premier Power Welder. Is one better than the other ? THANKS ! --glenn http://www.perfectswitch.com/ [Mobi Arc] http://www.premierpowerwelder.com/
  11. just a thought--If she's mechanically inclined then all that stuff is fine. If she likely could not fix her own car then I would think you should come at the problem from a different angle, i.e. communication equipment[cell phone w/ extra batteries/charger ,CB radio], roadside flares , AAA membership, warm blankets/sleeping bag, food /drink. The idea being that if she is unlikely to be able to fix the car herself she should benefit best by being able to wait out a recue.Just think if James Kim[the guy on the news, who broke down and died in Oregon] had thught of this
  12. I live in S.Cal too; where did you go to get the install done ? THANKS --GLENN
  13. I have 6.5" round speakers in front; needed a special bracket though
  14. I have BP skids . tHEY ARE WELL MADE AND VERY HEAVY DUTY. i DECIDED to get them after smashing my tranny pan in Death Valley - almost didn't make it out. I got all 3, the full set, but only used the two in the mid section for the tranny and transfer case skids. I have 1990 SE and the factory front skid fits better, w/ more ground clearance, and is slightly larger so it protects more then the BPs. It is true the metal is not as thick as BP, but it has taken many hits w /only a few dents. Just my $0.02. -- glenn
  15. I have had calmini 3" S lift for about 1.5 years. It has done well. Biggest complaint was that the poly bushings began squeaking mercilessly after about 1 year. I had them relubed with a teflon based grease and they have OK so far. Good luck---glenn

    alternator

thanks, but in S.Cal I need the AC. I wanted to run 2 different alts so that I would have a back-up if one went out. Any other ideas would be appreciated. THANKS ! -glenn

    alternator

Any thoughts on how to add a second alternator? I was thinking of getting an alternator/ welder unit and figured adding it as a second unit would give me a backup for the first and increase the overall power for winching. Any advice or a point in right direction would be appreciated ! THANKS --glenn
  18. Does anybody have any experience with these? Will this [Premier Power 160 HIGH AMPERAGE/ HEAVY-DUTY ALTERNATOR/ CHARGING SYSTEM ]alternator fit in 1990 ? THANKS -glenn
  19. I have a pop charger and am happy with it;I also added high flow exhaust[Dynamax} and I have noticed a definite improvement in responsiveness and milage[about + 3 mpg]I am not sure if the pop charger is any better thaen any other cone gauze filter but it does have more surface area then the K&N. I have been off road with it for 2 years now in the S.CAl deserts and have not noticed any problem w ith the filter fouling from the dust.
  20. I agree with GG and others;I also had frame bolts holding UCA spindle to frame pull out;only it stripped the threads on the bolt AND the frame;had to have the frame rethreaded with a time-cert;what a PITA. The UCA was hanging on by the other loose and bent bolt;was 40 miles off road in Joshua Tree back country;almost didn't make it out. glenn
  21. G, I have ARB in front and back and they work well. When the fronts are engaged the steering becomes VERY stiff; this is why you see so many posts about front lockers risking steering component breakage. At this point I only use them for very limited periods and when driving in a straight line , so I don't stress the steering components. Having front and back lockers is great but if you are going to choose one then I would definitely get the rear done. Good Luck --glenn

    winch

Hello all. What size/capacity winch to you all suggest? Thanks --glenn
  23. well, all I can sayis that an alignment problem can definitely cause this. Not to say it's the only thing, but it's the first place to start , and probably the cheapest fix if it does it. Also, the only place I was ever able to get a good alignment was at a Nissan dealer, even thoiugh I tried MANY other places first --just something to think about. Good Luck ---glenn
