  1. Not opposed to that idea. Friday, Saturday or Sunday works. The 9-5 beats me up pretty good so if it's Friday I won't last long.
  2. Works for me. Although I might be getting my springs in mid week so the truck might be down. I'll just have to come in the sedan
  3. Well thats not encouraging....The phone rep said they're expecting them by the beginning of next week, shipping to me shortly after. Maybe I'll call again and tomorrow and clarify if it was a "should be arriving net week" or "will be arriving next week"
  4. Rocky road outfitters just told me the springs are on order. should be here relatively soon. They're out of Utah so shipping should be pretty quick once they actually receive them. it'll be a fun weekend of suspension upgrades an hub installation when it's all here.
  5. I hope so...it's rated for 5000lbs. That's one of the main reasons we went with a R50 to begin with!
  6. Thanks Karmann. Im estimating around 3000-3500lbs when done. Thats loaded with all of our gear, select furniture etc. but no potable water, grey water or black water. The tiny house phenomenon makes sense for us. While its not an ultimate solution for housing issues in this country and others its a good stepping stone towards adjusting on what we need, have and want. Simple is better for us. Plus were outdoorsie kind of folks....."would rather be fishing" kinda deal.
  7. Wish the springs got here as fast as the load levelers
  8. Ahhhh. Good to know. Still new to the trailer and hauling world. Does this affect the towing characteristics of your truck/trailer?
  9. Damn, that looks so good. I kind of wish I didn't have to haul a trailer so I could go for a similar setup.
  10. I'm in Alameda. The guide books accompanied by a US DPT of Forestry map and GPS will provide so many fun trips. California has some of the best backcountry roads for camping/4x4 adventures. The pic is of one of my 3. We have 2 pit bulls and a Boston. He seems tiny to me, still pickm up, but folks seem to comment on his big head a lot. I don't see it anymore.
  11. Hey I ran a few trails west of Tahoe and some in the lost coast area recently. All pretty awesome and fun with moderate technical sections, camping and a cool points of interest. I recommend getting Tony Huegels books, which are more about getting out and far away from the crowded OHV, state and private parks while not breaking your rig on rock crawling severely technical and limiting trails. Mostly public lands with no fees, very few people and lots of gorgeous scenery. I picked up the desert, Sierras and coastal editions. Way too many trails to choose from w GPS coordinates, trail descriptions and info on getting there.
  12. It'll be fun when we're parked next to a lake in the middle of nowhere. For now it's just gotta get done. The window is a 2 piece unit. The outer frame which has the window glass, and the inner frame. They basically sandwich the trailer structure and clamp down on it using stainless fasteners. Pretty simple, just time consuming. Measure twice, cut once!
  13. Well i ordered the OME Med. Duty springs and a set of air lift load helpers. Im hoping to have everything by weeks end. Lots to do this month. Home stretch before the big trip/vacation/job-hunt to Washington and the eventual move... Wow, indyqx4, thats a lot of weight! What % of that do you think was on the tongue? My 4th weekend was spent working on the trailer. Installed windows and drew up floor plans using Sketchup thanks to Hawairish's influence. Went to youtube university and watched a few tutorials. How the trailer sits unloaded on the pathy. Pre-windows Starting to tear into the trailer cut, and starting to frame the the wall to accept the new windows getting there and test fit before sealing them up interior doesnt feel so claustrophobic now new floorplan. We plan to use the redwood saved from the demolition and remodel of sections of our current home for the flooring. This little trailer will be retrofitted in the style of a "Tiny House"
  14. Looks great! If I didn't have to worry about the vertically challenged family members I would love to go that high. kudos!
  15. If the rears are bad the fronts are probably in need of replacement too. Seems like a package is the way to go. I already have all 4 shocks. Didnt want to replace the springs if i didnt have to but towing safely is a huge concern. Plus if im going to have the suspension apart might as well change them out at the same time. Its just a question of AC or OME... The heaviest of duties would be the better option....
  16. So i gotta order this stuff tonight. Im leaning towards towards the AC springs from 4x4 parts. With shipping the Rocky Road OME spings would be roughly $30 cheaper. The cost isn t so much the issue as is what will be better for my needs. What are your thoughts?
  17. August is just around the corner and its pretty obvious i need to upgrade the rear suspension for towing purposes. I hear good things about the OME medium duty rear springs and I think I should be good with those and a set of air lift load helpers. Thoughts? What do you all tow with your 3.5 Pathfinders? Oil cooler recommendations? These pics are from a run i made to grab a small pallet of tile for our bathroom. it was around 400-500lbs im thinking. The rear sags badly. Its pretty clear i need help there. And for those that run trailers with electric brakes- what brake controllers are you using? I'll be pulling a converted 16' toy hauler. Pretty new to large trailer hauling. Any recommendations?
  18. Sorry, auto correct. It's "chock fast" http://www.chockfast.com/
  19. We regularly use stuff called "chalk fast" for setting foundations on VERY HEAVY marine equipment. Diesel engines, gearboxes...etc. Your bladder idea would be perfect with this. It's sets in about 24 hrs depending on temps.
  20. Hey CDN_S4- Would the shop be opposed to taking a few shots of the problem area and his solution? I have oxidation on the inner bitsdof mine too and it would be helpful for future SFD folks to see this obstacle and potential fix
  21. Really? I took a few solidworks and MasterCAM courses years back and I find sketchup a little funky. Not really that intuitive for me. Although i could probably just youtube a few tutorials. I have a older version of Sketchup but kinda left it alone after fiddling around for a bit.
  22. Good to hear. Probably a better place to drop it off than the standard mechanics shop. Performance places are used to dealing with fab related issues and come up with cost-effective, creative solutions. I know you're Canadian but it would be just in time for the three day weekend here!!! Nice CAD drawing, hawairish. Solidworks?
  23. Love the community efforts involved in this. Your truck is bad ass. Worth the effort of this solution. I think it's the most solid route for strength, durability and longevity. don't give up!
