87 Pathfinder In Petersons 4 Wheel Drive Magazine
89pathfinder replied to unccpathfinder's topic in General Forums
That guy is gonna need a stepladder and a fork lift to get that spare tire down off the roof? wth is he thinking? I mean its cool and looks pretty badass to the average joe. But a stock pathfinder could probably go more places that that jalopy could -
Thanks. Im pretty sure its the lower ball joint, but wont know until i change em.

Alright, well as always something new has gone wrong with the truck. This afternoon after doing some fishtailing in the snow i was on the road home and something in the passenger side front end started squeaking like a bastad. It squeaks whenever the suspension moves up and down, extremely loud. I cant figure out where it is coming from but im assuming either the upper or lower ball joint. Of course it dosent help that nissan didnt put any grease fittings on any of the ball joints. So my question is has anybody had a similar problem and what i could possibly do to fix it aside from replacing the ball joints. Get some grease fittings maybe? or just take out the plugs and put some grease in there. The boots seem to be intact which is what is puzzling me.

I work for a mason, and we always send the newbs to the truck to bring back the rock stretcher. Also, when changing the belts and loosening the tensioners, make sure to pick up a can of liquid wrench. Makes things go alot easier. -
What size tubing is that? and what did the total weight come out too. Just the bumper without the tire rack. Looks awesome by the way. Reason im asking is because i hope to have mine built by the end of the week. And just need some tips on getting started. Also whats the best way to cut through the steel?

Anyone have opinion on these tires (link/picture) for pathy

The mud country is a great tire. My buddy had some 35's on his chevy 1500. They were great in the mud and not bad on the rocks. Not alot of hum when driving on tar. they did a review on them in pertersons 4 wheel drive. Awesome tire for a daily driver. -
Well its a kit that might work. Woiuld probably need quite a bit of modification. 290 rwhp?!?! holy @!*%.

Wow, i want a supercharger on my 89. That sounds awesome. http://www.capa.com.au/kits_nissan.htm Found the kit $6,290

What are the advantages to getting and oil filter relocation kit?

Alright well ive decided to build a front and rear bumper, and also a safari rack. Ive got to do a Senior project for school so i figured this would be a good oportunity to get some cool lookin bumpers. So my question goes out to those who have made custom bumpers. Im wondering what would be a good thickness of steel tubing to use on the bumpers.
-
When i cant pull someone out in reverse using my front tow hook, i have hooked it to the tie downs in the back. I mean worst case scenario its just going to rip off or bend. Might take your bumper with it if it gets caught but thats not a tuff fix.

What's The Single Largest Inherent Flaw In A Wd21 Pathfinder?
89pathfinder replied to 88pathoffroad's topic in General Forums
The only thing i have noticed in mine is lack of power. I mean dont get me wrong the vg30 is an amazing engine, mine is going on 230k miles and has never had any work done on the engine. The other thing that sucks is lack of aftermarket parts. There are acouple lift kits and stuff, but no bolt on engine mods. -
Going to a junkyard is going to be your best be. They wont cost very much at all.
-
Alright so I have an 89 with a carb motor. And the engine has about 230k on it and has not been sounding so healthy lately and i was looking at the local junkyards website for pathy engines. They have acouple out of like 94s with 100k on em. So my question is would i need a new computer if i were dropping in an engine with fuel injection?
-
The slave cylinder was just recently replaced when my clutch pedal dropped to the floor, aparently it blew or something and i lost all of the fluid. The mechanic said everything else looked good so im not worried about it. And the clutch comes with an alignment tool.
-
Alright, yesterday i drove my pathy home and ran great, this morning started it up and drove out of my driveway onto the road and could immediatly feel the clutch starting to slip. I have known the clutch has been ****** for awile, and have been takin it pretty easy. Well now its at the point where i accelerate and i can feel it slipping. So now i need to order a clutch soon. Where can i order a clutch online? And also i have been thinking of doing the project myself and am asking anyone who has done it or has helped do it how hard is it? Would i be better off pulling the tranny or the engine. How many friends should i have to help out? What do i need to complete the installation, and how long should it take if everything goes smoothly? Also, about how long do i have before the clutch completely @!*%s the bed?

Well what exactly does the trailmaster lift do to lift up the front. I know it drops the torsion bars but how does that lift the front end up without cranking the t bars? In the picture they have on the website the lower a arms are horizontal just like stock, not angled downward like after cranking the the torsion bars.
-
Alright, well now that its almost time to lift my pathfinder, i have contemplating a few different ideas. I was originally going to go with a 3 inch body lift and 3 inch suspension. So heres my first question, to those who have installed or helped install a body lift how hard was it to do? What problems could i run into? Now for my next question, was is the maximum possible lift that i can get out of the front independant suspesion?

Yes, less rotating mass will give you better gas milage. I dont think it would help a ton but deffinatly better gass milage.
