  1. what a mess some custom markings in the hood Updated: Making progress.
  2. Hey folks, (Lots of photos broken into several posts) I am new here and already learned a ton, my thanks to all of you who have held my hand. I am still learning Since buying this 93 last week, I have done the following: New Rancho 5000 shocks New sway bar bushings, front and back and new end links passenger and driver side half shafts replaced gas struts on rear lift gate and glass replaced 1 new tire alignment torsion bars tightened And being a paint restoration guy by hobby, I went after the exterior this past weekend. I only put about 20 hours into it. Here are some photos taken from a thread I started at The Detailers Cafe. This is what I am working with. I am taking a little break Flex and 7424 with black Megs Finish pads...using PB PP just to clean the surface Blue Megs clay Baseline Prewash with my little man Here she is getting ready Shot of hood, you can clearly see the road grime and tree sap and junk on the left side. The right side is already cleaned and prepped. 1x1 foot of hood Hopefully you see the haze, swirls and junk in the paint yup, its white folks
  3. Oh another thing, I will prob replace wheel bearings in the front since we are going to be doing the half shafts. Why not right?
  4. Thanks for all replys guys. I had the alignment done today....it was off. They had a problem with the upper control arm on the passenger side...the last person who did the alingment over torqued the bolt inside the frame so they had to re tap it...it was dicey to watch it...but they got it done. I watched them work the torsion bars....um, that is easy. We got the rear to 15.5 and the front to 15 and it was perfect. A light rake, make I could use a little less. Tonight when I put the new shocks on (I went with Rancho 5000's to save some $$ for the injector) it raised the front up to 16 so I had to break out the impact and reset them again. So now I am sitting 16 rear and 15 front both sides and with that, fellas I don't think I am going to do the lift after all. That said, Precise1 I may take you up on your sale parts just in case. Ok so get this guys ....while at the shop, I told him I could get an injector from Courtesey Nissan (Local to me) for 170 and he said he could get it for 140 (Nissan part) and he would only charge me another 100 to find the injector and replace it...I said "done and book it for mondy" so they are getting that solved for me. I also ordred the half shafts for the front, hope to get those replaced Sunday. But the big news, is now that I am waiting on parts...i am going to spend Sat doing the paint restoration. I will make sure i get lots of befores and afters. The weather here in DFW is going to be awesome so I am pummped.
  5. Hey folks while working on my rig the garage (with doors open) I had to idle it up to play with a few things, there is a strong smell of exhaust in the air, must more so than even my 2006 Power Stroke Deisel. I am totally new to the Nissan world and the previous owner told me that he said an injector was sticking...could that be what is producing this strong oder? Thanks RR (BTW, I know I have hit the site hard wtih lots of questions, hang with me here, i am learning)
  6. Fellas I am looking at this lift kit https://www.4x4parts.com/nissan/pathfinder-custom-suspension-lift-p-45.html And these shock RS9000XL SERIES SHOCK Stock - 2.50-in. Front RS999214 2 RS9000XL SERIES SHOCK Stock - 2.50-in. Rear RS999333 2 The rear Ranchos say stock to 2.5 inches. The lift kit says rear springs to 1.5 Does this mean I can still use these rear shocks or so I need different moddle? Thanks much for giving me a second look at this RR
  7. Thanks, here is a better photo of the front No flash
  8. Ok, its sinking in now. Why do I think the front is lowered? Is that b/c the shocks have to be gone? For the JGC lift mod....I gotta do some more research...I dont understnd where a JGC coil will go in the front.
  9. yes, I am used to seeing 235/75/15 type sizing. Ok, so help me here for a sec. The stock size according to Discount Tire is 30/1050-15 ....is that a smaller tire than what I hve on there or bigger? I cannot tell. These seem to "stick out" just outside of the fender flares. I need 1 new tire.
  10. Guys, I have never heard of this tire size...it has Michelin LTX M/S 30X9.5 R15 tires. What in the hell is this size? Please tell me this isn't b/c of these wheels...jus wondering if I can get a "normal" sized tire. Sure hope I am not showing my ignorance here but I thought I knew tires.
  11. Do you know what these wheels are? REally, if so I need some info from you...do you know the offset? they still out a little far for me but it could be the odd tire size.
  12. guys, what is the stock wheel size on these? and what is the pattern?
  13. Well boys the quest may come to an end now...he counter offered me and I hit him back with best price on the 93.... my final offer 2500...crossing my fingers, I want this one.
  14. thanks for the info on this and the link. Too bad I don't live in the bay area. I work in the bay area from time to time but sure don't live there. I much prefer the Texas area. I like my dogs and guns.
  15. First year for engine, should that scare me? It looks very different than the VG30E's that I have seen under the hood. And guys I am sorry to ask these questions, i am new to Nissan...I will pick up the lingo quickly.
  16. Just found a 2001 with 98K miles on it....hope they have it on Wed...gonna go take a look. Thanks Kyle for the info...what version is the 2001?
  17. Nice Kyle. Ok guys really noob quesiton, can you even buy the spare tire holder if the truck doesn't have on?
  18. thanks Kyle94....btw guys how come I cannot find any Xtera's with 4x4?
  19. Thanks folks and thanks for the welcome here. He did counter offer at 2750 but still it needs 1000.00 upfront of work. So I have decided to save up more and buy a newer one. I am looking at both 4Runners and Pathfinders...I like the 4Runners bc they have more ground clearance at stock over the pathfinders but I like the pathfinders for the easier to work on engines. Thoughts?
  20. well the guy rejected my 2200 offer. Said he was going to keep it. He is just playing me. But I am ok to walk. I guess the search still goes on.
  21. Good point, thanks for the clarification. I will prob need a 2" lift. I have to admit...this isn't my area of lingo....I drive a modified F250. Its a terrible 4x4 hunting truck but it pulls our 5er like a shadow. That is why I am trying to get this this Pathfinder. I got a few roads on the ranch where our Larados and Jeeps can go but I need a little ground clearnace to make it. The Pathfinder is a tad low to make it. A few off camber dips. Open for suggestions.
  22. Roger that. Thanks for the info....anyone suggest an "easy to do" kit for the body lift?
