  1. well darn...I just finished up taking the hubs off and cleaning out all the old grease (or chocolate syrup) and repacked with fresh grease and put all back together. Did a test run with the 4x4 H, L and back to 2H and reverse and still the light is on. when I had it up on jack stands, I would spend the tire even in 4H and the axle was not spinning. But I know is getting to 4H b.c I tested it on the raod by making a few turns to see if they were biting and the were. So I am scratching my head again. RR
  2. I thought about that...but I have done a few tests in the gravel with each wheel turned fully each way and stepped on the gas and they are not pulling. I guess to really know I would have to take it apart. BTW when we did the half safts in the front, those hubs, the grease in them looked like melted chocolate.
  3. Man I sure have tried to ground the #3 pin but for some reason the light doesn't blink for me so I am going to build a longer wire and connect it directly to the battery neg then try the #3 pin.
  4. Side bar topic here....I had my wheels balanced...noticed my rear pads are super thin...could that cause the brake light issue ? I didn't know if there was a sensor on the caliper or wheel somehow.
  5. Damn....that didn't work. It made a lot of sense though. Chit.
  6. BTW I got the 4x4 Neutral sensor swapped today....it didn't fix the light problem.
  7. Just to be clear, this isn't my friend...I was just working with Billy at Courtesy Nissan and he was kind enough to go grab one of his buddies from the shop to take a look at the truck while I was there. Yes the accessory belts were too big for the pullys.
  8. yeah I am starting to think the master tech needs a refresher.
  9. P1....I bought the sensor on a guess it was the right thing to replace. Due to the condition of it. I will go snap a photo and show you. It's beat on pretty good. And I didn't discuss this particular problem with the tech bc the two sensors are so low in cost I felt I should just give it a try. What I returned to the dealership was all the belts, including timing belt and a few other things that were not right. I bought an "E" timing belt kit and all the belts are wrong. They are too big and don't fit properly in the pulleys. It was making all kinds of noise. I gotta say this has been some fun...(Sarcasm) and more of a comedy of errors.
  10. Ok, so this is what he said when he came out to help me diagnose a few things. He said, b/c my truck didn't have the black cover on the one side of the engine it meant that I had a "I" that was upgraded at the factory with a fuel injection system. He also said, Nissan calls it an "E" but its really an updated "I". My plate on in the engine bay also stats "E" but parts don't match up. That would explain why my Timing belt was Square vs round..... I don't know what the part is called. I could snap a photo if that would help. That all said, this is my theory on what we are dealing with here. I personally think that the timing belt has been changed in the last 50K or so miles...and that whomever did it, replaced the timing belt pullys with older "I" square ones and didn't get the rounded "E" ones b.c they didn't know the difference. This could also explain why my timing may be a tad off. Good theory?
  11. Hey boys, quick update. I sure do love Courtesy Nissan in Dallas...they took back all my parts with no questions asked. We called a Master Tech out and he said something that may shock all of you. I have a VG30I engine with a Fuel Injected system making it a VG30E "like" engine. LOL They didn't make many of these but that is what I have. Anyone shocked? So that has been the reason why some of the parts are a little off. While I was there, I picked up some odds and ends that I was looking for . New Bolts for fan, new fan, 4x4 neurtal switch thingie majigger. I cannot swap it out I need a special wrench with a lot of offset. I gotta buddy to help me there. The master tech told me that the Brake Light and ABS light are tied together...and that I need a new sensor....300 bucks...I think I will wait on that one.
  12. I will look again, but I did quickly look...looks like a bunch of stuff on the passenger side of tranny...or are you talking about transfer case...oh wait, read it again...ok, I didn't look there yet.
  13. Another update...I just jacked the front up to add anti seize to the 4x4 hub bolts...before I took the tire off...it was spinning freely so I know it wasn't engaged in 4x4
  14. Ok update guys I got it all back together and started it up...it sounds so much better. ...the timing belt is still whinning a tad but no more screeching. So I had the neg off the batter while I was changing the belts and ALT. I figured it may clear the ECM...nope, all the lights are back on. Yes AdamZan...this is a new tranny and my 4x4 has worked for the 3 or so weeks that I have had it...this morning out of the blue its on.
  15. The light came on this morning before I even left the ranch...i did some tests, put into 4 wh then out then back to 4l and back to 2h...light never went out but got dimmer. When in 4x4 it is brighter. When i dropped off my deer at the processor they have a big gravel lot, I turned my wheels all the way tot he right and gunned it, the fronts did not spin. Yup, I have issues. Right now I am stock with this new alternator. I was panicking getting it off as my wife was holding it from the top and was about to drop it on my face...pardon the joke,
  16. Guys...this was on the back of the alt...but I dont' remember where. It looks loke it was looped to itself based on the marks Posted by Samsung Galaxy S3
  17. Thanks guys yes I have a new alternator...but a tad confused. E is "earth" or ground right? Well in haste I have some extra part that was looped to itself and I don't remeber where it was. Not sure if it was E or Bat along with the red bat line. There is also a plug there which is obvious where it goes then another black line that I "think" goes into E also.
  18. got home, (Thank the Lord) ran up to Autozone, they cannot test ODB1, but they did test my alt and it was only providing 12 volts...new problem, belts I got from Nissan are the wrong belts...so I am swapping them out.
  19. Yessir....I am 1.5 hours from home now... Can a bad alt make noise? Posted by Samsung Galaxy S3
  20. Ok guys....new light.....go in to go home and my 4x4 light is now on Posted by Samsung Galaxy S3
