  1. I think Heep fit quite nicely.
  2. I've just got a cheap Eastwood 110v MIG welder. That with a bottle, cart, gloves and a helmet was all of ~$600. One of the 4x4 magazines said Eastwood had the best welder under $300 (a few years ago). I've used some big, nice ones before, and this sucker will do anything I need it to. Good products.
  3. Thanks, man. Roof rack came with the rig. It's not made for the r50; I think it's off a Jeep (Cherokee?) and it's just bolted in a couple spots to the r50's luggage rails. Point being, find a cheap one and tie on! Yeah, that would be easy. Another thing I want to do is made add some secondary curves to the sides of the main hoop. Something to better protect the headlights.
  4. Finally got the front bumper completed with a skid plate. Still have enough airflow going through there with the found scrap-metal perforated piece. Sweet Gorilla Tape antennae, huh? No armor underneath yet. Also, doin work this weekend: Pathy swallowing up some 12' material. Mods/Fixes update (just a list to help me keep track) TO DO - diy snorkle - HVAC module assembly - Quest Alternator - working lights on the roof-rack (plus some rear lighting) - hitch - 2" AC lift COMPLETE MODS - manual hubs - scrap metal bumpers - 31x10.5x15 BFGs on 15x8 Steelies with fake beadlocks ( title="">thread) - 35% / 5% tint - dark blue hood from pull-a-part (thanks forum) - radiator expansion tank relocation - washer fluid reservoir now a Nalgene bottle ( title="">thread for those two) - scrap metal bumper FIXES/MAINTENANCE - bootleg CV boot - both belt pulleys - new steering rack - new sparkplugs - fluids front to back, diffs and t-case likely had never been changed - alignment - new radiator - new AC condensor - lots of electrical nonsense with the turn signals - ditto above with the horn (bypass)
  5. Finally got the front armor done. Nothing underneath yet.
  6. Yeah, you definitely don't go in from the back. Can't remember exactly but it's from the top or through the front, around the trim piece.
  7. I have this one from Eastwood (great company). It's $340 http://www.eastwood.com/mig-welder-110vac-135a-output.html Got it with the plasma cutter and cart and some other goodies. I was like you a few years ago. Wanted to learn, took some classes at a local artists studio, now it's all I ever want to do in my free time.
  8. Earning it there in that photo.
  9. (last one) Or this 720 for $1900. Same guy I got my wheels from actually. http://charlotte.craigslist.org/cto/3866150692.html
  10. Another old school Nissan truck http://charlotte.craigslist.org/cto/3818208277.html
  11. What about another pathfinder? http://columbia.craigslist.org/cto/3902863172.html (tons under $2K) Or...I'll trade you mine. My pathy is already a beater...problem solved!
  12. How does one decide weather or not to run a pre-cleaner like New4x4r? Any of you with the "typical" snorkle top worry about water getting in there and soaking the stock filter when it's raining? Very curious.

    New cars

Wifey has '13 Veloster 6MT. Fun to drive, functional, good for road trips. Very economical. Out the door for 19K on the nose (base). 35-40mpgs easy.
  14. 'El Cheapo Manny Hubs Installed. Several days of rust penetrator did the trick. Old hub slid right off.
  15. All I came up with was his reference here but no post:
  16. Thanks DW. Yeah, weird. I buttoned it back up and got some of the WD 40 penetrating stuff and will soak it multiple times until the weekend. Hope Saturday I can tackle this again. FWIW, the pass dust cap had a small crack in it. Maybe that was enough. I swear If I can't get it off after soaking I'm going to cut it off with an angle grinder...
  17. Total abject failure this evening. Home from work early, decide to tackle this...two hours later, still didn't have the first hub off. Decide to pop the dust cap off the 2nd side and noticed quite the difference. PASS SIDE DRIVER'S SIDE (my headache) I could not get the driver's side off at all. It's stuck (rusted) to the axle something fierce. Ideas? Does it look like my passenger side install will go smoothly? So frustrated.
