  1. Lots of WIN going on with my beater Pathy: That "temporary" grille is the wiper cowl off of a '76 280z that I parted out. Speaking of s30 parts, here is my new radiator overflow tank. That's the windshield washer tank off of the same 280z. I took off the pump and plugged the hole in the bottom with some left-over p-tex (meltable, sandable plastic) I had from my old snowboarding-repair stash. Simple bracket with some random metal, boom. Way sweeter than the capless, Trader Joes cleaner bottle. Getting there...
  2. Doin Work. Made a bit of progress. 2 out of 3 obstacles removed. It's a work in progress. Right side cleaned up. I actually did rock this overflow bottle for awhile. It worked fine. Here is my new washer fluid bottle. Old Nalgene, it's actually pretty leak free. This is just tied down with some twist ties to some random bracket. Anything that fits an empty cavity, can withstand a little bit of heat, and can be drilled out to fit the pumps seems to work. How do I fill it? Not super elegant, but not a PITA because I don't live somewhere that the roads are always salted. I don't use a lot of washer fluid, so I just undo the twist-tie and open-er-up. Surprisingly, this setup is pretty leak free. It's way better than my busted OEM washer tank.
  3. Bought the torx bit (Lowes or home depot have them, t45 or t50 can't remember). Replaced spiral cable AKA clock spring with one from a wrecking yard. CLOCK SPRING FROM WRECKING YARD, 1996 PATHY: 3.25 turns lock to lock CLOCK SPRING FROM MY RIDE, 1996 PATHY: 4.5 turns lock to lock The clock spring on my pathy (the one I removed) does not spin freely around and around. There is a clear end point to rotations in each directions. Replaced anyway: airbag light still flashing and horn still does not work... I'm concerned the new clock spring does will not turn enough with the wheel and end up breaking. GRRRR. Thoughts?
  4. Yeah, you can get a new one for $160. That's pretty cheap, bolts right up.
  5. Excellent pictures! Thanks for sharing. CO resident 2000-2005 (miss the mountains, not the traffic)
  6. Well, be jealous after my I replace my AC condensor and I stop driving around town with no bumper and one headlight...
  7. Got a steering column (minus airbag) from a local scrapper for $55. Hopefully the spiral cable/clock spring works (if not, they have three more). So, uh, anyone need a steering column (j/k)?
  8. Yeah, so things I need to make a sweet bumper that more or less exposes the front tires with no impediments : - Snorkel, it looks like (any other cheap way to move that crap below the airbox? What's that plug for? It's before the air filter...) - Real overflow tank - relocate battery (to where?) and put washer fluid in its place hrm... In related news, my new Eastwood MIG and Eastwood Plasma Cutter just arrived. Hell yeah.
  9. Looks like that 2nd pic you posted, TheExBrit, was the banger. Much appreciated.
  10. Well, Courtesy Parts has a new spiral cable for $256. Yikes. Can't find a scrapped r50 around Charlotte to save my life. For future searchers, T50 Tamper Proof Torx Bit looks like $4. (EDIT) $12.44 after shipping
  11. Woah! Rad. More details. Did you make custom fittings for the lines?
  12. All you serious 4x4 dudes with crazy bumpers: Where are you relocating the coolant expansion tank? And the windshield washer tank for that matter? My coolant tank is shot and I'm in the process of building a new bumper so I figure it's time to move that sucker and see if there is something else to use beside the OEM one. THX
  13. Cleaning my Pathy, had fuse box cover (the one under the steering wheel) off and on the floorboard. Tossed damp rag with some gunk-be-gone solution on the floor (cup holders were nasty). OOOPS! Disolved some of the ink on the sticker. Crap. Can anyone snap a pic of this real quick so I can print it out and stick it in the glove box? THX
  14. Is it possible this is the "clock spring" located somewhere behind the airbag? I saw the thread about removing the steering wheel but there's no part number for this sucker. Any ideas? Other things to check? Related or separate issues? (Fuses OK.) 1996 5spd 4x4 Thanks.
  15. Do you think the factory bumper mounts are as good as (Class 3 able) as the factory tow hitch mounting points? Imma build a rear bumper with hitch for my r50 but wasn't sure if I could make them the same unit.
  16. We did the screw in + 4-5' hose + fuel filter on Titans all the time. Great place to tuck the filter is right behind the tail light, then just ziptie the breather hose along the body/frame. Make sure to leave a loop to account for putting the rig on the lift and or axle droop.
  17. Anyone have a part # on this? I'm looking at the diagram scratching my head: http://www.courtesyparts.com/pathfinder-parts-r50-1996-2004/genuine-nissan-parts/steering/488-steering-column/-c-4700_4701_4815_4819.html I have a blinking AirBag light and no horn...
