Hey Ballin - I'm just up the road in Ahwatukee if ya wanna get together and shoot the $*#t, sometime. you can come check out my pathy to see if it makes the same noises etc if ya want as well.

Sounds good to me and your pathys setup is what im wanting to do so seeing it in person will give me a good idea of what im shooting for. Im in the Gilbert/Queencreek area not way down south queen creek. But we will def have to meet up.

That's a tight looking Pathfinder. Nice find at an awesome price. :)

I have video of me playing in the wash outs flexing woody out and playing in snow and mud but it wont let me transfer the video from my phone to the computer.

  2. I would use seafoam. I did a lot of searching on it and a lot of people liked it and seemed to work for them. The only negative was from the guys that haven't used it before. I ran it in my oil for 40 miles and it broke down alot of carbon in my engine. I didn't want to run it for 200 miles with that stuff floating around. But that's up to you. The longer its in there the more it will break down I guess but i plan on doing it in stages and if you run it through your vac line that goes into your intake your gonna want to replace the spark plugs after a couple miles becuase it will foul them. There is a couple of vids on youtube of how to use seafoam but went you watch them run it through there vac line they drown the engine with the last little bit to where it kills the engine. I wouldn't recommend doing that from what I read it will hyperlock your engine. And don't feel bad about asking questions this is what these forums are for. And when it comes to the oil I'm not sure what to run. It currently has 5/30 in but I am also getting some light noise from the lifters not sure if I should swap to 10/30 and ill prob run some Lucas in it too but someone will chime in.

I still get confused on weight to run in my engine with the AZ temps.

  3. X2 on the seafoam I ran it in my ka24 and it had a stuck lifter. I ran half in my engine oil and the other half through the vac line off my brake booster. I let it suck it out real slow and let it run for 15mins. In that 15 the stuck lifter stopped. The engine runs SOOOO much better then it did before. Better throttle responce and accle. I would try that first. O and do it at night if you live in a naborhood becuase your going to make a lot of smoke.

  4. It's a must for you guys to take pics. I was up in Heber last weekend and was playing around on some trails. Woke up Sunday and there was snow. Luckly we had 4x4 and they let us come back to the vally while my parents had to stay another night up there. That was my first time driving in snow and ice. It was crazy and kinda scary at sometimes. But the pathy did great. Wish I was going with you guys I need some propper skills on driving offroad.

  5. Thanks man!!!! This sight is awsome it doesn't take no time for to get answers. And as far as lifters chattering my next oil change I will add some of the Lucas oil to see if that might help. It has 5w30 now what do you guys recommend for my truck in the AZ? The same or 10w30?

  6. Hey guys I have two questions well let's make that three.

1st is when I start the pathy up I now get a little chime sound that beeps a couple of times then goes away. It's coming from the left side of the steering column. What the Hell is it?

2nd I noticed that when I start my truck at night and let it warm up before I hop in it and leave from work that there is a puddle of water under my tail pipe. I checked my oil and there is no water and my coolant hasn't went down either. I know some vehicles do this but my truck is the only one at work that I have noticed doing it.

3rd I also noticed when I start it up after sitting awhile that I get some chatter then goes away after a sec of running. Anything to worry about? Woody runs great and shifts great so I Just figured I would ask. Prob the lifters chattering until it builds up pressure?

O and I got my Windows tinted yesterday and we are heading up north to go camping with my parents so hopfully I can find some light trails to play in and get some pics up for you guys to see.

  7. Check the CV boots. Generally when you ride on the bump stops too much it puts those front CV's at too much an angle and 17 the year old rubber gives.

If your going to get some UCA's try and find some that correct the ball joint angle when you lift the front a little. like the Rough country or Super lift style UCA's. Otherwise, you'll be doing Ball joints more then you'd like. New bushing all around is a good place to start.

    Loving it.

Its not the cv boot its the upper balljoint boot. And i am going to lift it and i have read the 4x4parts pathfinder arms are junk and i have read good things about the rough country. So when i buy my arms just get the hardbody arms from 4x4parts? and any mods i have to do to run them? I wonder why they dont just sell those for both trucks!!!!

    And

    Thanks :aok:

My sources say the most optimal position to be in is to crank the torsion bars until the upper bump stops are about 1/2" away from the UCAs.

    Thats what i have :aok:

  8. So after an 1 1/2hrs i reindexed the t-bars again and now they are tucked up in the crossmember and now the upper arms sit just above the bumps. Gonna order up some low pro bump stops and call it a day for the front for now. Im really wanting to buy all new bushings and balljoints among other things when i do the susp lift. I think i managed to rip a upper balljoint boot when i was playing around in the dirt. Found some fresh grease slung on the arm

  9. Yeah im going to drop him down a bit and im gonna order some ultra low bumpstops should i go ahead and get them for the lower arms also? Have them for droop and compressed? And how do you loosen the sway bar? You meen just unbolt it all together right?

  10. So i reindexed my t-bars and he now sits up higer. It went really easy they have been pulled before. Explains why one anchor was further tucked up then the other. Somone went a little to far on one side. But the good news was they greased the splines so i literally slid the anchors off by hand no beating at all. I had the front sitting up a bit higher then the rear 1 1/2 to be exact and i really liked the hight so i was thinkin i could just get rear springs to lift it up a bit but after driving it and playing in the dirt i relized my upper arms where riding the bump stops. Well the local autozone doesnt carry low profile bump stops so i guess i have to lower it a bit then get the alighnment done so i can drive it to work.

    Ok pics :D

Kinda tucked up in there but im wondering if i lower it to ride off the bumps if the anchors will hang out so maybe i need to index them a spline back. I thought i did 2 but i might have done 3.

While i was down there i found this tucked up in the linkages of the transfer case.

  11. The previous owner didn't like the carrier so he took it off and it never had a light come on about it so they might have unplugged the switch? Idk ill have to look into it more.

And thanks for the compliments all the waiting I did payed off but I did get fustrated becuase I couldn't find one that was in decent shape. My girlfriend was getting pissy with me becuase I was getting so bummed out lol

  12. Me and some guys from work went out to dinner and as we where getting back in the pathy my buddy that lives with me racked his elbow on the tire carrier hard!!!!!! I couldn't help but laugh. He talks @!*% about woody and my other nissans lol that's woody getting him back. But on another note woody got some kroil on his t-bars so hopfully they will come off smooth this weekend.

  13. I have read this thread and it is a great write up and cant wait to do mine this weekend. But after talking to a buddy and looking under my pathy i dont see how the anchors come off the t-bar. I trust you guys and im not doubting anyone but it looks to me the t-bars are to far into the anchors to have enuff room to slide off and turn. And this can all be done with out dropping the crossmember? Just want to make sure before this weekend

    Thanks for the writeup :aok:

    Ryan

  14. Thanks and im gonna reindex the torsion bars then get it aligned this weekend and hopefully that will fix it. And my dad told me the tire size and i asked him again and he said they are 32x1150x15 idk ill have a look when i go over there this weekend and find out for sure.

  15. Man. That's a beauty right there. Smart move on picking one up in Cali to avoid the Rust. Very nice. I've read some reviews on those tires as well and they had great things to say about them. Even in the 4x4 Petersons Rag they mentioned they are cheap, and work great in many environments. I'm Looking forward to seeing the progress on this since you've got some amazing work already behind you from working on the Hardbody's.

About the temp gauge. There is some threads here on the subject somewhere, but basically it comes down to this. Universal temp sensors are obviously cheaper then OEM. I believe some of them have different operating temps. I can't recall the numbers but I do recall reading that some aftermarket ones were opening up on the cooler side then the factory ones. Someone may chime in with an actual link, but as usual, its somewhere in this Vast library of Pathfinder information. Finding it has always been the hardest part. A word to the wise, start making folders for bookmarks that are like the FSM. Anything that you find here that's super useful, book it and park it in the appropriate folder for reference later for when someone else asks the question, you'll be able to refer to it quickly.

Beautiful ride man. You're gonna love it.

Thanks man And i couldnt find anything bad about these tires also. The only thing is they are noizy but for my first 4x4 i like the sound of them lol

Awesome truck brother, really looks like it was well maintained!!

I have always been a sucker for black!

First thing I would check is the thermostat. Mine did the same thing as yours, and after changing out the thermostat my gauge reads like normal now...and the heat works sooner as well.

    VERY cool truck...

    88Pathoffroad covered the re-index... http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=17038

His write up helped me a TON... I should have taken more pictures of the tbar fix, but either way... http://www.torymoore.com/pathfinder/calminifront.html

Enjoy your truck man, these things are tried and true!!!

Thanks man i love black and it will receive the full chrome package but still look good i have some stuff that i want to do to it that i never seen done on them one is im making custom tail lights should be pretty cool i think you guys will like them. And i may just buy a thermastat for it and pop it in. I havent looked to see where it is or if it will be a pain to install but that might be my problem. Either that or what Dowser was saying not sure if they are easy task to do or not but i guess it needs to be done. And i have seen those links before i have the one where you did the body lift saved. :aok:

Nice. Its a combo of my current Pathfinder with the rims I had on my first truck, a Chevy Luv. Looks good man.

Thanks man i love this truck :aok:

  16. I'm not sure on the trip guage but it is nice to have and the front tires where badly wore out on the outside of the tires. I'm guessing from the saggy torsion bars but I want to reindex them and get it alligned this weekend. And I don't mind I picked him up for $2500 but when you add gas and plain tickets and rental car I think its still a good deal. And I payed $600 for the tires mounted and balanced

  17. Nice truck, welcome to the forums.

    What's up with that Hardbody?

Thanks And the hardbody was my daily but it started to get a raddle in the front of engine im thinking timing chain but it just sits in the drivway now. Im in the process of building a 4dr nissan hardbody and after i build the cab the blue hardbody is getting used towards the 4dr. I have pics of them both in my thread i started in the new guy section :aok: Any info you want on it just ask

  18. Check that front end and make sure nothing is loose or out of whack. It could cause some of the height issues. It does look like someone at sometime had the torsion bars out(my guess is trans or rear main). Reindex them and you should be golden. Remember, our rigs came with a slight rake to them. After lifting my rig, I slowly put the front down a bit and the rake is back. Helps to not stress out the front end so much, and made aligning it a ton eaiser.

Thanks for all the positive comments guys!!! And i dont think there is anything loose under it, it drives and handles great with no movement in the steering wheel but i will look. Do you think i should reindex the pas one more splines then the driver?

  19. 2nd is the temp guage. The highest it goes is in the pic i searched it here on the forum but i never came up with a awnser to my problem. I know it cant run this cool.

I plan on installing a tranny cooler and filter with a temp guage but i had to get tires for it first. Next will be ac recharged and tint then prob a body lift and some spacers to get those wheels out a bit till i get my new wheels. My Dad is putting baja claws on his jeep so im getting his 33x11.50x15 BFG MT's till then i need a susp lift and bodylift. I love this pathy its a blast to drive i cant wait to do get the new tires dirty and do some trail riding.
