  1. Thanks for the excellent information. This will hopefully save me a lot of trouble in the future. I sold an RX8 to get this truck and have a deal with my wife to take my usual car payment and basically build it out. As I get into more engine work, I'll likely be depending on this forum more. I've found some good info and some people that have done almost exactly what I want to do. I'm pretty stoked about it and will keep everyone posted as this progresses.
  2. Yep. When I swapped out the starter day before yesterday, I was removing the heat sheild from the manifold and the stud closest to the firewall on the passenger side dropped right out. I've spent a few hours here since, reading about various gotchas (manual tranny apparently needs to be overfilled somehow for example). I'll need to get an extractor and replace as many studs as I can. I've read about some people using replacement studs from other cars because they're made from a different grade of steel. Is that worth the trouble or should I just get the stock studs?
  3. I just spoke with Steve on the phone - my earlier post was pre-mature. Steve is trying to put together another batch for order right now. He's got a list with a few people on it, but would like to get 2-3 more if possible. If anybody else wants to buy headers, this would be a good time to do it. Plus it would help me get a set.
  4. Thanks for the tips. I checked out Rugged Rocks and gave them a call. I'm hoping to hear back soon. Their site says they are expecting a batch of DT Headers on the 4th, so I may have just lucked out. Is there anything weird about installing headers on these cars? My Sentra for example needed a modified EGR tube.
  5. My exhaust manifold is cracked and wont pass emmissions. I'm looking at headers to replace it. I can find Pacesetter headers in stock at Jegs and other places. I've got a Pacesetter header on my Sentra but it didn't fit right and was a pain to install. Does anybody have experience with these? Does Doug Thorley still make headers for this car and are they worth the extra $300? Other header recommendations?
  6. I've been tracking mine now for a little over three months. I average a little over 18 in the city and got 21.8 on the highway during my last trip. My main reason for doing this is to see if headers/etc on this truck actually improve gas mileage at all. (They did on my Sentra).
  7. That's a tight looking Pathfinder. Nice find at an awesome price. Jared
  8. I like the creative use of rotors in your project.
  9. For future reference (somebody's gonna Google this and find our thread for sure) here is a picture of the amps in the passenger side rear quarter panel. Strangely, the front amp ran the front speakers on my car, the rear amp ran the rear speakers. I have the 8 speaker configuration (two in the doors, two tweeters in the a-pillars, two speakers and tweeters in the ceiling in the back). Both amps were made by Clarion.
  10. I got 18.47 MPG on my last tank, (I actually average about 18-19). I baby mine as well - I usually don't rev past 3.8k. By half tank, I've usually got 160 or so miles on the clock. I have a manual though, which helps. How are your tires wearing? Are they filled properly and whats your alignment like? Also, do you have a crap load of tools in the back? Check the air and fuel filters as well. Those can really affect mileage.
  11. Did you guys wind up going? Any pictures?
  12. ahardb0dy - Did you check on a price at the dealer for the moldings? If so, was it ridiculous? I don't have any junkyards close with Pathfinders (a good thing, and kind of a bad thing at the same time...) I also need a top front window molding. I installed speakers in the rear roof (6.5") yesterday. Took it skiing today. Tried to install new speakers in the front doors and found the speakers are too deep and hit the window (I checked it - I didn't find out by accident). I also took it to the car wash and realized at a horrible time that the doors no longer seal at the top. (Yes - I got a wash too.)
  13. That sounds fun. I'd love to get out and do something like that. The stereo in my Pathfinder crapped out and the new stuff just came yesterday. I'm hoping to get most of it put in this weekend. Post pictures up here when you get back though. I'm definitely interested to see how it is down there.
  14. I'm here... I just got my truck a little while ago and haven't really done a lot of off roading yet. Hopefully when it gets warmer I'll get out more.
  15. Hey All - I bought a 94 Pathfinder last March. Its my first 4x4 and so far has been fairly fun. It replaced an RX8 because of the snow in the winters (we normally get snow, right?) and my backpacking habit. I just wanted to check in with the other folks around here. Jared
  16. I just bought a 94 and am doing a lot of the work you are. Post new pictures when you've got them. I'm curious to see how this turns out.
