Well I'd say that's better than 1500. They wanna give you as little as possible, so why not try and get a bit more instead of letting them screw you? You're forgetting that if the truck isn't totalled they replace all the parts that got messed up. Sentimental value means nothing to an insurance company. If you inform them of upgrades and their value, that would be accounted for in the total value of your vehicle. I'd assume that most companies would charge you a little more each month but also would replace those upgrades as long as all repairs = less than the (new) total value.

Yikes, x2 on the uninsured motorist coverage. I assume most people who don't know how to drive very well also don't have insurance, at least around here.. That's a bad combination and an easy way for you to lose everything just cause someone else sucks. If you want the insurance company to replace your aftermarket parts, I'm pretty sure they'll wanna know what everything is worth before you ever get in an accident. Then in a possible total loss situation yours will be worth more than just an average pathy of the same year and harder for them to just say it's totaled. I used to have a 1976 Monte Carlo in mint condition, all original. In 2010 I was in a head on collision with a girl who had no insurance, no license and no working brain cells either, cause she started to cross and then stopped in the middle of an intersection for me to hit her. Anyways, since there were no upgrades to the car it carried the same value to them as any beat up 76 Monte Carlo and wasn't worth it in their eyes to fix. Luckily I did have uninsured motorist coverage so insurance kept $1000 of the total, I got to keep my car(which needs lots of body work now) and I bought my first pathy with the rest of the check.

Wow, that is quite reasonable. Hmmmm.....
-
How much was "reasonable"?
-
Lol. Imagine a wd21 pathy with a 4.2l turbodiesel, that would be fun.. but I'd still wanna sas it before doing anything that needs that much power, and the patrol already has a solid front axle.... Sooo I guess I'd still stick with the patrol.
-
A much bigger one than you could fit in the pathy too.
-
Ya of course not, but pathy or patrol?
-
So, I was just wondering what everybody else thinks of the Nissan Patrol compared to our pathfinders? I would really love a turbo diesel pathy, but I was thinking that if I was going through the trouble of getting that imported it might be better to just bring a Patrol haha. Not that I'm planning on doin it or anything, this is all purely hypothetical. So, if money wasn't an issue, and you wanted to have/build an all around, very capable offroad rig for as many environments as possible, which would you choose? Any Pathfinder vs. any Patrol. Personally, I think I'd go with a Patrol (GR I think but still not sure on that). sorry.... We could share npora tho haha

Exactly what I needed to know, thanks everyone for all the replies!

I hope that fixes it, that sounded nasty.

to that ^ I cleaned out the back of my truck and found out 3 of the screws holding the carpet down are rusted in place..
-
I doubt that could be more dangerous than just leaving it as is, so I think that's my plan. So I guess I'll order the OME coils and try to find a panhard rod at a u pull it this weekend as long as the weather's good.. Maybe I can find some jgc coils for the wd21 while I'm there.
-
I've never ridden in another r50 so I don't have a comparison, but I guess it is kinda stiff in the back. I think phantom01 had a good idea about getting a new panhard rod and trying OME springs(I'll replace the link bushings too, if necessary). I had thought about going with OME before but, for some reason I don't remember, I chose AC? Probably cause of the extra 1/4", but looking at it now maybe it'd be better so go with 1.75" instead of 2" of lift since the front will stay stock for a bit.
-
Wow, that is alarming to say the least.. Not too surprising tho I guess, keeping in mind who I got it from. Looks are not important at this point, just safety. Yes I do plan on lifting it as soon as $ allows. I want to go with the AC 2" lift. It won't be driven like that for very long, just until she can find a job and we get her first check.
-
I drove around on mine with just the rear lifted for 2 weeks until i got around to getting the front done. Did it feel unsafe at all?
-
Yup, the first pic is the driver side and second pic is the passenger side. I know it's been in at least 2 accidents and I need to get a new panhard rod cause it's welded together. The whole axle is shifted toward the passenger side, I think partially from the panhard rod not being welded back together straight and partially from those springs that look like they wanna die. Anyone agree? Or have a better idea?
-
Ok, I think you guys are right about the death wobble, but don't these also look like they need to be replaced? left And right
-
So let's say I replace those bushings and it seems to drive ok again.. That would be great, but I still need new coils in the back too. I'll try and get a picture of them tomorrow but they look really bad, like they're ready to pop out of place at any moment. Would it be safe to lift the rear and leave the front at stock height? I'd rather not have to buy 2 sets of rear coils(and I don't have the $ for the whole lift right now) but I need to make sure it would be safe for street use cause my girlfriend wants to start driving her truck.
-
Yes, I too like your pathy and am (im)patiently awaiting more pictures
-
Ok thanks, I know what you're talking about now, just wanted to make sure. I'm guessing pretty much all the bushings need to be replaced as most parts on the truck seem to be original at 155,000 miles.
-
Rear sway bar link bushings right?
-
For a month or so my (girlfriend's) r50 has been sitting in the yard due to the fact that I desperately need new springs in the back. I recently replaced the struts (with stock height Gabriel brand struts from autozone) and the front feels much better, but now the rear seems way more out of control and quite dangerous. So my question is: do you guys think it would be safe to run the 2" rear lift coils from AC with stock height suspension in the front? I know it might look goofy for awhile, but I don't have enough $ to do everything at once.
-
^ I want that ^

The 92 is just over 130,000 and the 98 is somewhere around 155,000 both still runnin strong
