  1. Well given that they will be exchanging parts I guess you can still see it that way lol. Little bit of lesbian sister action lol.
  2. The rear will absolutely be cut off. I need to keep it a 4 seater though but I need to come up with a plan. Maybe winging this isn't the best approach but it's what I plan on doing. My only issue is that it rains up here so I need to make sure it's sealed from the outside elements. I'm not a fan of being cold and wet while wheeling lol. Any and all ideas are very much welcome. Just bring pics like you did so I can see what you're talking about
  3. Got the 95 backed into the shop. She's in pre-op awaiting surgery. As soon as I finish getting things cleaned up and organized in the shop she's going to start coming apart.
  4. Here is the 1995 XE (130,000) that I just picked up. She need allot of work but I think I can save her. If I can save her, her frame will be the base of an all out buggy style rig. How much of the body I will use if any is still up in the air. She will be street legal here in NY if all goes as planned.
  5. So it's time for it to begin. This is a tail of two sisters. Both have lived a long tough life. The younger sister suffers from cancer and was given 6 months to live by her previous owner. Her new owner plans on fighting the cancer and giving her a 2nd shot at life. The older sister has had a rough life. She was abused by multiple owners and put down to die. She was brought back to life and given a pretty rough new life. She's basically ready to get a make over and relax while looking good for the remainder of her life. This will be a long slow process but I'm looking forward to these two builds. God willing nothing will get in the way of my plans. For the first time in my life I finally have the tools to undertake a project like this. So with a little luck and support these two builds will become a finished product for you all to enjoy. Most of you know what my 91 SE (235,000) looks like but here are the before pictures. And no I didn't feel the need to clean her up for her before pics. I wanted you all to see what she looks like on her worse days. My plans for her have changed. As of right now she's getting custom interior and more than likely the dash and a few things out of her sister. New paint, roof rack, wheels, and Calmini steering will also be in the plan.
  6. Picked up a 95 Pathfinder today for parts. It's a rust bucket with 130,000 miles on the engine and trans. If the frame is salvageable You'll be seeing a full fledged rock crawler in the near future. Stay tuned for pics and video.

  7. It balances out pretty much. Most people aren't changing gear sets over and over again. So when you compare the cost of buying a different rear end and making it fit with the extra cost of gears you might be worse off changing the axle unless you're able to do the work yourself and find a good axle that don't need any work. Locker option isn't that big of a deal for me. Anything other than a selectable locker brings with it a load of "compromise". However gear options I see as a possible problem. Again it really depends on what you plan on doing with your rig. Are you trying to do some serious wheeling or are you just getting rid of the IFS?
  8. Unless you plan on doing some major hardcore wheeling I don't see any good reason to change the rear end unless you just want to and like spending money. Sounded like you were on a budget though. That's why I'm bring it up.
  9. Why do you need the rear end? And make sure you're getting a front axle with the diff on the driver side. I believe the Toyota front end has a passenger side diff.
  10. Let me know. Like I said I'm very interested. The more work I can do on my own the better for me. Just because I want that experience and pride to know I did all the work myself.
  11. I just want the completed pan. Don't need any other parts. I'll only need the measurements for the links and their mounting location on the axles. Let me know when you feel confident enough to let someone buy it. If it needs mods I can handle that. I won't be putting it on my rig anytime soon but I don't want to miss out on the chance to get one ether.
  12. lol Apply for a patent on the design so they can't rob you. However you should sell some drawings of the design to people like me that can build it ourselves. I've been wanting to do something like this but can't seem to figure out how to use that stupid link calculator that's floating around pirate4x4.
  13. All bolted to the floor and ready to go. Basically Finished. I'll be ordering in some tubing next week to give it a try once I get paid for this job I'm starting tomorrow. I plan on added some springs to it so it will retract on it's own plus I'll be doing some work to the base to make mounts for more die sets.

Looks nice.. I just did a respray of my bonnet (did a bit of a write-up on my facebook page and pics) not a bad job for my first ever spray painting attempt with a proper gun! Though I've got to finish the write up just like I have to finish the cut & polish to get a full shine, hehe.

It's definitely something that you should practice if only with thinners, but get used to the guns if you've not used them before.

yeah I plan on practicing on a few non automotive projects first.

  14. Thank you very much. Nice clear picture! And yeah I don't plan on driving it. However I'm trying to cover my ass just in case. If anything and I mean anything goes wrong with my other car I need something to use while I address those problems. My other car runs great but you never know. I'm just trying to cover my ass because bad luck hit's hard when it does. Plus because I plan on building a custom dash, I need to know what needs to be lets there for the truck to run properly while I figure out what I need and what I don't need. I have a ton to figure out with that project alone. I might ditch the AC given that I live in Syracuse now and just build my own heater system to minimize what's under the dash. I also need to figure out if I can run after market gauges and ditch the whole stock setup or if I need to build the dash around the stock gauge cluster. That's why I'm worried about what needs to be in place for the truck to run and driver. This might take awhile.
  15. I need to see some pics of the dash removed. Please post them up if you have them. I'm getting ready to build my cage but I plan on building a custom dash too. I need to see what I'm dealing with so I can get the job done as fast as possible. Also do I need all the gauges or any of the rest of that crap on the dash to drive the truck? Could I just get the steering column mounted, move the wiring out of my way and drive it if need be?
  16. Sorry . Not trying to spam the sight. I just want my logo on all my images just in case they show up in a google image search or something.
  17. Ok as many of you know I recently bought a JD2 tubing bender. I bought the manual bender because it was way cheaper but I had the intention on converting it down the road to air over hydraulic. Well the road was really damn short because I decided to do it right away lol. I know Swag Off Road sells a mount for the Harbor Freight ram but it has a major flaw in the design do to it's pivot point. The mount creates side load on the ram and will blow out the seal and from what I read can make retracting the mount pretty hard. Now due to the size of the HF ram creating a center pivot point takes quite a bit more effort but it should be done if you want to use this type of ram on your tubing bender. Here is what I'm working on and the progress so far. My mount will use the factory mounts on the ram rather than clamping down on the tube like the Swag mount does. I Should have this finished up tomorrow night. I'll post more pics then. For those that don't mind listening to me ramble on and on you can check out my youtube videos of this build. Hopefully that will answer any question you have.
