  1. Any add sounds good so that they can sell their product. Gain up to 60 hp...i would think twice before buying such chip.
  2. Yeah i have that too, but only if you put your hand on the shift knob than you can feel a slight vibration. I mean you cant see it vibrating or hear it. I guess its normal coz its been like that since i bought my truck.
  3. They both are good motors in their own way. I have a 2003 Maxima with VQ35 and my Pathy with VG33.Well my maxima is all abt performance with little mods here and there.Maxima has been pretty solid but its little bit on the high maintenance side like for changing spark plugs the upper intake gotta come off, and nissan went little cheap on the valve covers which is plastic and seem to crack and the oil will fill up the spark plug holes.I am also a member of the maxima forum and the VQ35 is notorious for burning oil.The 01-04 Pathys are known for rear main seal which is a expensive repair. From 99.5-00 are sluggish when it comes to acceleration...oh and the valve cover gasket on both sides are known to leak.
  4. Hey guys it might sound like one of those questions, but just wanna get things cleared. I just did my cooling system flush at the Nissan dealer. After the flush i noticed that the coolant level in the recovery tank(overflow tank)is just a hair above the minimum. I went back inside and asked the technician who serviced the truck about the coolant level and he said that is the amount should be in the recovery tank and not to top up anything, so i believed him. When i got home i read in the owners manual that the coolant level in recovery tank should be at the Max when its cold. So i would like to know if i should top it up to the max or leave it where it is as suggested by the technician at Nissan. I also read in the haynes repair manual that the coolant level should be just around or above the Min mark when cold. Thanks in advance.
  5. Yup i have the same ticking at start ups after sitting all night or after work ,but its not doing it all the time. Some start ups are quite and nice and if it does tick than it only last for 2-3 seconds. I use castrol GTX high mileage 10w30 but try to use 5w30 for winter and i have 127,000 kms on it. I also spoke to the service advisor at Nissan and he said its very common with R50'S as they get older and there is no need for any concern unless the ticking does not fade away.Oh by the way its the lifters that ticks at start ups.
  6. I have a triple pillar pod gauges in my summer car, 03 Maxima with a VQ35 and one of the gauge is a analog oil pressure gauge. I got all my kit from glowshiftgauges.com and they come with all the instructions needed for installation.
  7. All R50's are known for that, mine too will only rattle in "D" when iam stopped but goes away in neutral. I end up ripping them all off and problem solved.
  8. Master cylinder could be on its way out. Internal leak can cause loss of pressure....just my wild guess
  9. Its the beast of the Pathys...awesome
  10. I feel the same way . Here in Toronto the winter can be brutal at times and love the fact of throwing into 4x4 in the Pathy without stepping out in the mess.
  11. Well done and thanks for the pictures and the write up.
  12. Wow, nice pictures and great scenery.
  13. Hi guys, i have been getting some mixed information regarding lift and its downsides. Iam interested in 2" lift but heard that it causes premature failure of the cv joint due to the angle of axle after the lift which starts to shred the cv boots. How common is this with a 2" of lift. Is there any way around it apart from manual locking hubs. Iam here in Toronto and the winter can be brutal at times and i like the fact of the pathfinder that you can activate the 4x4 from inside on those snowy days than stepping outside to lock the hubs. thanks.
  14. Awesome, seems like lots of fun.
  15. Looks great man. Are those tires 265/75 R15 ?
  16. Thanks, did you just added front 2" spacers and how abt the rear. Is 4.5" back space ok.
  17. Hello to all. Iam really new to the forum and amazed with responds and inputs from everyone here.I have 2000 xe and currently am interested in some after market rims. My stock rims are 16x7 and the oem tires are 245/70r16. The rims iam interested in are 17x9 with 4.5" back space and the tires for these rims i wanna go with are 265/70r17. The total diameter of the tire is around 31.7". I would like to know if iam gonna have any rubbing issues with these set up or i must lift my truck to install these rims and tires? Iam also not too aware of the back space of 4.5", is this good or bad?
