  1. Exactly... Basically, I don't think you'd notice a huge difference between a proper torsion bar for the height of the vehicle and a stock t-bar cranked. I'd just assume that the stock t bar would obviously start to wear and sag at a faster rate than normal due to the increased stress..
  2. The ride will feel a little stiffer (mine did) when you crank the stock t-bars. I'm assuming (no physics expert) that the "torsion" affect is progressive.. it has to work harder to maintain the more aggressive load put on it by raising the vehicle, and as doing such will be pre-loaded to a higher "torsion" rate so will feel stiffer... especially since raising the vehicle means that there will be a little more motion for the torsion bar it would have to twist further to max out the suspension flex further increasing the spring rate throughout the range of motion.
  3. I'll get it home and pull it off. After the first incident the T-Bar was not bent... I've put about 4-5K miles on the rig since it popped out last. I'm pretty confused?? I'll check the adjuster clips.. that may be the issue. It may be time for an upgrade here, as these are the factory t-bars (no real sag though).
  4. Ok... So About 2 years ago, I was on a pretty serious trail, and my t-bar popped out (passanger side) of socket.. I didn't know what it was at the time, but figured it must have hit part of the obsticle that I was trying to overcome and just pulled it out of socket. Well, today, pulled into the local gas station, and there is a large dip that compressed my right front suspension, and the t-bar popped "slipped" enough to drop the suspension about 4". I'm a little confused... this is a pretty dangerous situation, I regularly drive 50-60 mph on the way home at night and a t-bar popping out on a corner would put me in the water or on the beach (neither of which would probably be right side up...) Could this have something to do with my lift? TM 4" Or a loose front end component? I've never heard of this happening before... Thanks!
  5. 100% True.. "purpose built" vehicles are slowly becoming a thing of the past. Now manufacturers are overwheling themselves by trying to produce "do it all" vehicles that only "do it all" in a mediocre fashion. But that is what the consumer wants, because that's what the reviews say they should have.
  6. No OT for me.. I'm salary+plus profit share with option to buy in, and last year we didn't turn a large enough profit (after our remodel expenses) to share anything, lol.. since it's family, I'm kind of ball and chained, I just have to keep telling myself "it'll be worth it!"
  7. I Agree... I'd rather see Nissan develop their own Diesel.. They've always done an excellent job with engine development in the past. The Cummins and The Powerstroke are both great diesels... once again everything boils down to maintainance. I just prefer an inline 6 to a v8 diesel. Hell, I'd love to see Nissan co-develop a titan with CAT or even Deer! I will be looking into a full size truck in the next year or so (crew cab) that will also be my daily driver up here in Alaska. It has to do three things: Haul (dirt, applicances, build-demo waste), Tow 8-10k pounds and Seat at least 5... and I'd really like to do it for less than $50k (Ford/Chevy), and I'm not a big fan of Dodges overall build quality. If Toyota really does throw a Hino (8.0L Inline Six FTW) with a Six Speed in their Tundra, I may have to spring for it and spend a little extra (especially if they offer the flat-black model...mmmm). I DO think that it would be a really bad idea for Nissan to partner up with Chrysler for any other reason lol. I did mistake that for a personal attack, I apologize... My business runs me 7 days a week, 12 hrs a day.. I have a problem taking everything personally at the end of the day and turn into a "rock'em sock'em." I don't know how my Fiance Puts up with it... Waiting on my Gym Equipment to get up here is Killing me lol (my method for aggression dissipation has always been lifting, unfortunatly there is not a fully equiped gym where I'm at).
  8. Thanks.. But it didn't need correction. Different strokes... Bottom line, Full size pickups have one of the largest markets in America... The Titan is a young concept (only 4 years now), and through it's shortcomings Nissan is doing a pretty good job of selling them. A diesel will just broaden the appeal. A cummins would enable an even larger towing capacity for the Titan, would give better gas mileage and hold the resale value a bit better... and "cummins" by now is a household name. I have not purchased a full size yet only because there is nothing out there that overwhelmingly appeals to me... I think that the Titan is the best looking truck on the market, has a great interior, and well, it's a Nissan... all it needs is a better rear axle and a diesel. You thinking that Full Size Pickups are "Gay" isn't going to stop Nissan from producing them, so there is no point in being ignorant and bashing something that doesn't appeal to you.
  9. They more than likely are talking about the possibility of a cummins diesel in the Titan... if they do that, they will upgrade the drivetrain as well... that's a good thing folks. Cummins Titan= Badass. I'd buy one.
  10. My Favorite Recipe Currently: I never have time to cook at home because, well, I run a restaurant (with a hotel attached lol), go figure... This is my favorite crock pot recipe, throw it all in and let the machine do it's magic. 2lbs Of Beef Shoulder or Chuck, you could use a sirloin as well, but I prefer a little fat in my beef when slow cooked. 1/2 cup of Horseradish (prepared/xtra hot!!) 2Tblsp Johnny's Seasoning(Xtra MSG!!) 1Tblsp Black Pepper (The courser the grind the better) 1/2 cup Garlic Cloves (Whole) 1 Whole (large) Yellow/Sweet Onion halved then quartered (or cut into 1/8ths ) 1 cup quartered Button Mushrooms 3-4 Average Size Yukon Gold or Red Potatoes quartered 1/2 Bottle of Cheap Cabernet (or let over stuff from the night before/or week old... doesn't matter much). Throw Everything in the Pot, Let Cook for 8-12 Hours, and enjoy the most tender flavorful beef ever I used to be a prime rib fan, but now this is my favorite way to cook my beef.
  11. Thats funny! The only thing is, everytime I've gone to Canada (Whistler, Victoria, Vancouver BC), They picked me out like I was a suspect in a murder line up.. like I had a freakin stamp on my forehead. . . and then "..blah blah blah, war this, f- america, war that, I love the queen (j/k )... " then I'd by them a beer and all of a sudden I'm invited to the after party
  12. When I lived in WA, I used both Geico and Esurance... Both had their ups and downs, but did a great job when I ran into trouble (a metro bus, and a garage lol). I've heard good and bad things about all insurance companys. Put it this way: They're going to do everything they can to make money and still take care of you well enough that you keep your mouth shut.
  13. Since I'm an Alaskan Now, I can post jokes about both The lower 48 and my neighbors to the east. Lower 48: 1. Only in America......can a pizza get to your house faster than an ambulance. 2. Only in America......are there handicap parking places in front of a skating rink. 3. Only in America......do drugstores make the sick walk all the way to the back of the store to get their prescriptions while healthy people can buy cigarettes at the front. 4. Only in America......do people order double cheese burgers, large fries, and a diet coke. 5. Only in America......do banks leave both doors open and then chain the pens to the counters. 6. Only in America......do we leave cars worth thousands of dollars in the driveway and put our useless junk in the garage. 7. Only in America......do we use answering machines to screen calls and then have call waiting so we won't miss a call from someone we didn't want to talk to in the first place. 8. Only in America......do we buy hot dogs in packages of ten and buns in packages of eight. 9. Only in America.....do we use the word 'politics' to describe the process so well: 'Poli' in Latin meaning 'many' and 'tics' meaning 'bloodsucking creatures'. 10. Only in America......do they have drive-up ATM machines with Braille lettering. 11. Only in America......can a homeless combat veteran live in a cardboard box and a draft dodger live in the White House. (think Clinton) And now: It's Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final, and a man makes his way to his seat right at center ice. He sits down, noticing that the seat next to him is empty. He leans over and asks his neighbor if someone will be sitting there. "No," says the neighbor. "The seat is empty." "This is incredible", said the man. "Who in their right mind would have a seat like this for final game of the Stanley Cup playoffs and not use it?" The neighbor says "Well, actually, the seat belongs to me. I was supposed to come with my wife, but she passed away. This is the first Stanley Cup we haven't been to together since we got married in 1967." "Oh ... I'm sorry to hear that. That's terrible. But couldn't you find someone else, a friend or relative, or even a neighbor to take the seat?" The man shakes his head "No, they're all at the funeral."
  14. From what I hear, Suzuki may be an up-and-comer here in the next few years. Their smaller cars are rated really well in build quality and fun factor. With their huge popularity in bikes, you'd think they'd do something a little more perfomance oriented in the future. If they can move a lot of these trucks, it's a great way for them to make a profit with out any real risk, and like previously mentioned, Nissan sells more trucks, they don't really care who they sell them to I think it could be a win/win. Maybe even get a frontier for less money through suzuki
  15. Nice to see ya made it over here from NWnissans These guys know their stuff... Good luck bro!
  16. The Tundra is a great truck.. I'm just not going to be buying brand new (and if i did I would be paying a substantial premium at the dealer over a new titan), and the first generation Tundra's that will be on the used market more than likely won't have the camshaft problem fixed. On the other hand, the new Tacos are supposedly the best truck for the dollar (with the frontier not far behind in the segment). Nissans are in my comfort zone, and unfortunatly Toyos aren't.
  17. IMO if Toyota brings a hino inline 6, Nissan really won't have a choice but to offer a diesel variant (which could mean they thrown in a rear axle combo as well!) in order to be semi competitive in the market. As far as the bed size goes, i dont' need to load any 8' pieces of plywood anytime soon (the new titan offers a full size bed with crew cab option iirc)... mostly need a bed for things with clearance issues most of the items I end up hauling don't have a huge footprint, just a little height to them..which end up causing clearance issues with any suv.
  18. Look up: "The Secret Life of L. Ron Hubbard" on youtube... theres 5 of them, about 10 minutes long.. This religion is based on a fricken psycho.
  19. I've always been curious about how the pathy would do as a baja vehicle. If you were to convert to 2wd, do you think it woudl be possible if you removed the front differential, to maybe retro fit a long arm setup from another similar ifs truck? Maybe you could lengthen the upper mounts to be the same width as the lowers, mount them where the lowers exist... mock up a cage frame where the diff was, and mount some long arms.. then you'd just have to fab mounts for the coilovers (which you could do just like with a sas kit), and redo the steering Hoop dreams lol
  20. I agree.. one of the reasons i'm going to wait till the end of the year. Cab space is a pretty big issue with me, that's why I'm having a hard time... I think the crew cab frontier would be just a little to small for me and my family, we're good size people lol. The titan has a ton of room, and well, the xterra does too..but no truck bed. On the other hand, personal experience has always proved that Full size trucks will need more maintinance, regardless of brand due to higher stress on parts.
  21. I understand that the titan had a few issues in the past, but I can't find anything on '07 titan's having issues, and from what I'm reading the '08's have just about everything worked out. They do run a d44ish clone axle, but also run a 9" ring gear.. heavy duty enough for me. The only real issue that worries me is the brake recall issue.
  22. This is why axles break: Up here there's a lot of rocky terrain, but it's usually a bit slippery, which aids the process of breaking axles. Don't worry I'm going to keep it... Just going to solve the problem with a d44. There is nothing wrong with the driveline, just a lot of stress on those CV's because of the amount of lift (3" body, 4" suspension), and big tires... it's always an internal issue on the joints themselves (internal ball bearings in the inner cv). And believe me every time they break, it's pretty much my fault (last time it popped, I was reversing in 4-lo, and turning right, which is about as extreme of an angle you can get.. shouldn't have broken though wasn't doing anything extreme) It's just time for me to dedicate the pathy to fun duty only. I didn't purchase it as a daily driver, before I moved to Alaska, I was always a car guy... since I've moved up here, the Pathy has become my number one trusty vehicle. I will be purchasing a new rig mainly because we will need something a little more versitile that can tow/and or haul(that's why I'm kinda leaning towards a pickup) for daily use. If I choose the xterra, I'll also have to consider that I'll have to purchase a small trailor to haul stuff with (atvs, snowmachines, lawn equipment, tree limbs, Mulch, Lumber).
  23. I'm not going to be able to run the Wd21 forever as a daily at the rate it's eating CV axles out of the Front Passanger side, so I'm begining to look at a new rig (would be purchasing after Summer, my busy season). I wake up every morning biased to one of the three but can't decide which. Here's what I'm looking into. 06-07 Xterra "Off Road". Pros: Love the look, great v6, crappy gas mileage so I'll feel right at home, outstanding out of the box offroad capability and aftermarket support (if I for some reason have to get rid of the pathy). Good Towing Capacity. Stock Rear Locker and Hill decent. Cheapest of the group. Cons: Really hard to find a 6-speed tranny (used), rear leafs, may become my favorite wheeler and start sucking up my money. 06-07 Frontier Crew Cab. Pros: Decent Towing Capacity, it's a pick up, decent interior room, pretty easy to come by, decent out of box off road and sour condition capability. Cons: Even though it's a pickup, you won't really have enough bed room to do anything useful. Pretty expensive (just a couple thousand less than a well equipped titan). Also hard to find 6-speed. 06-07 Titan Crew Cab. Pros: Big v8 Power, tons of torque, similar gas mileage to my ageing pathy. TONS of interior space with the crew cab option. 9000lb towing capacity (my Father In Law is purchasing a family Boat, and I'm not pulling it with the Company Courtesy Van). Decent Offroad capability. Locking Rear Differential. Look GREAT with a small lift and 35s Cons: Previous models have had issues with the rear diff, It is a big truck. Nissan will be offering a diesel in the next couple of years. .................................................................. Now with that stated, which would you guys go with and why?
