  1. Yes most of the things on the list are things that I can do my self and some of them I would. But others I'd have the shop do as this pathy is in Denver and I'm about 4 hours from there. And from what both my parents and mechanic have said they would not feel comfortable letting me drive it back across the mountains. also I have never replaced a cv boot before and have no idea what what is wrong with the steering rack clamp. The control arms I have done before and they were a big pita and I'd like to not have to do them myself again.
  2. It is sick but there are some problems with it, which is the only reason why i havent pulled thr trigger already. Heres the list from the mechanic: Tires Front Axle Boot Steering rack mounts Spark Plugs Tune Up Front of rad full of dirt Belts( Alt, A/C, PS) Alignment after steering rack is fixed Rear upper and lower control arm bushings Rear Shocks Fuel Filter Oil Pressure Switch Muffler is starting to rot Heat Shield is falling off the resonator F brake at 60% R brake at 75% All total $1500-2000 for parts and labor, Granted theres things on the list that I would do my self, like plugs, tune up, belts, shocks so the total repair bill would be less than the quote but still kinda spendy. So this is why im still kinda leary about it. Hopefully tomorrow I will be able to take a look at it in person and really get a feel for it and look at the service records. If i dont like it then im also looking at this one: http://denver.craigslist.org/ctd/3188561955.html a year newer, less miles, but a little but more up front but looks like it wont need the reapirs that the other one will. I like this one as well but it doesnt have the grill guard, rear tire carrier, and its an automatic. But you cant win them all.
  3. And why is that? I was planning on putting warn hubs on it at some point so missing a wheel cap isny a huge deal to me.
  4. The rover is out of my price range and from what I hear they are money pits. And as for the strut rot I haven't actually seen it in person yet but I had my parents look it over as well as a mechanic and neither of them said there was any so I think I'm good there.
  5. As far as I can tell yes. The salesman was telling me that there was a folder an inch thick of repairs and maintance when it was traded in.
  6. Now im looking at buying a 97 SE 5 speed. I know that it has some issuses, like the control arms need to be replaced, it needs a tune up,and a cv boot needs to be replaced. the mechanic also said that he steering rack mounts need to be fixed. So im aware of these issues and can over look them. But what im really wanting to know from personal experience is, is 150k miles a lot for the VG33. I know that these can last for ever if taken care of properly, and according to the dealer it has. New timing belt water pump, etc.. But my step dad and my mechanic are both leary of the miles it has on it. I told them that 150 for a truck that is 15 years old isnt that bad and with proper maintance these will last a very long time. Here is the pathy in question. http://greenwoodautomotive.com/automobile-online-inventory-denver.html?wHPdoEWqeF=jJYktKPriTRpzMQawECbdBScyZAsfF you may have to actually search for it as im not sure if link is correct but its on there. What are you opinions? Yea, Nea, I was thinking about offering them 3500 and seeing where it goes from there. Thanks
  7. Looks like my old one. Except I got sick of the Chrome bumpers and the finish off and herculined them and put some black steelies on it.
  8. Can't believe I'm doing this but here a link to some used warn hubs in your part of the state. Which I would jump on if I had my pathy, not yet in Sept. But at $100 with studs its a great deal. Even if you need to get the service kit. http://denver.craigslist.org/pts/3046221413.html If he even still has them.
  9. Yeah I know that getting power widows was kinda of a pipe dream. But one can always hope right. Here are the wheels that it has Is there a way to take the finish off and paint them. This is what I would be doing with the bumpers and was wondering if it would be the same process for the wheels and what would be the best type of paint to stick? Anybody have answers to any of the other questions? Please.
  10. Oh and my plans right now for it are grind off the Chrome on the bumpers, and herc them, tint the windows, bug flector, fender flares of some sort, possibly paint the wheels or get some black steelies, roof rack of some sort, k&n if possible, warn hubs, and prob some sort of aftermarket deck.
  11. So I know this has all been covered before, and I knew the answers at one point but have since forgotten. I'm looking at picking up another 98 that is "naked" no roof rack, no flares, basic wheels etc.... So here's my questions and yes I know there's gonna be a lot. Will 31's fit on a non lifted pathy, having to cut the inner fenders isn't a problem to me. The stock 5 spoke Chrome wheels, what is the backspacing on them? What can I paint these wheels with that will stick? Or would something like getting them powder coated be a better option depending on the price? When looking at the AC lift, the website says that you must use a wheel with at least 3.75" back spacing. Why is this? Are the camber alignment bolts something that really should be purchased? ( on my old one I didn't have thre and had no problems) I remember on my old one that i had a K&N intake, do they still make this? I was looking on k&n's website and they didn't list anything other than a replacement drop in filter and AC doesn't have a kit but they do have an adapter but no filter to go with it. Are the cross bars on the roof rack universal? Meaning can I get some from a newer model and have them fit? Or would you suggest on getting thule bars and what not? Has anyone used the universal fender flare kit on one of these? I really want to add flares to it for looks but no one seams to carry the stock flares. Or an aftermarket flare. Does anyone know if any of the bush wacker flares will fit? It has manual widows and locks is it possible to add power widows and locks? Would it even be worth it? Again sorry for all the questions but any answers would be great. And any opinions would be great as well. The only reason that I'm looking at this one and not one that is not naked is the price and mileage. It's got 100k on it, timing belt just done, newer tires, 5 speed, and one owner, well maintained and I will prob pick it up for around 2k and will have close to 2k to spend customizing it.
  12. I its been years since I owned an R50 went from a 98 (totalled) to an 04 (traded) and currently have a subaru forester and its time for something different. I have a line on an other 98 with 100k miles on it and a 5 speed. I have seen it in person or even seen pics of it but i know what they look like and how they run etc... But since its been so long since ive owned one what are some of the main things to look at with the 98 R50. I know that the timing belt has been changed, as well as the current owner will be taking it to a mechanic to look ever and make sure its in the condidtion I think its in. So besides the timing belt what else should I be looking at with this one? P.S. Im getting all giddy inside witht the thought of owning an other pathy. I loved my 98 and was heart broken the day I totalled it. I al ready have plans in my mind as to what i want to do with it, AC lift, warn hubs, etc....
  13. I believe that a flotation tire is a tire that is not measured in metric. As for wheels and tires the tire size kinda determines the wheels size that is needed, also how much buldge you want in you sidewall. What kind of spacer are you talking about? a wheel spacer or a strut spacer? You wont need either to install you lift. It might look kinda funny with stock tires and wheels on it with a lift but you wont have any problems.
  14. 100k on a 5-7 year old truck? that seams to be really high mileage to me but its not my new ride
  15. cool good info, maybe i can make something up to get some tickets
  16. cool let me know what you find out
  17. I know that the SEMA show in vegas is not open to the public, but me and my wife were talking about our vaction this year and the 08 show popped up on tv and she started asking about it. I told her that its not open to the public but she still wanted to go to the show this year. So I guess what im asking is, is there any way that me and her could get into this years show? Anybody have a connection that would be willing to sell us two tickets? Any other ideas on how I could arrange it for us to get in to the show. TIA
  18. nope never been but im thinking that i would like to make at least one trip and then try and get some time off from work and go to GONE. I have many plans for my new one but nothing in action yet, as me and the wife are buying a house and all the extra money is going towards that right now. You need a 3.5 doner? *fingers crossed*
