  1. There is no autozone near me. Only advanced, napa, and a local one. i got it through them for $70. The core charge on it is higher than the price for the axle assembly though.

  2. could have sworn it was a 7MM, have to check my socket set, when you do try to get them out, try to get the allen part in as far as it will go than smack the ratchet handle with your hand really quick or a hammer, if it still spins try the American sized equivalent to the metric it fits a little tighter in the head of the bolt

your daily driver?? you should still be able to drive it with a torn boot since it's not in 4 wd anyway

Yeah but it makes this annoying sound. I still got my S10. But driving around like this just gets old. And I'm sure it's not too great to keep it up like that in case what's left of the boot flies into my engine bay.

  3. I picked up some allen sockets tonight. It was 6mm (not 7 as stated before). And it started spinning inside the bolt. I will spray them with PB Blaster and see where it takes me. I just want to get this done and over with since the Datsun is my daily.

  4. checker is an auto parts store.

    o'reilleys

    autozone

    napa

or wherever will have them too.

Only one of those we have near me is Napa. And I refuse to use them because I'm tired of inept employees and rude service.

  5. yes they do. it was like 12 bucks for a set at checker

    wtf is checker?

and it took me a while and alot of refreshing but i got the FSM for the 1994 to work finally. Half the pages refuse to load.

this will be a royal pain in the ass though.

  6. t-t-t-t-triple post!

wtf do I use to get the allen bolts off the hub? I tried using an allen wrench and it twisted all of them. They make those in socket form don't they?

  7. Double post: I'll be doing this myself after all lol. I refuse to pay $500 or so for an outer CV Boot replacement, not including parts.

Bad enough they want to kill me on this VSS.

  8. From my experience with OBD I and II often times one problem (even if it is minor) will cause the ECM to throw a slew of other codes. One general rule of thumb with OBD II vics is if the ECM is throwing 5 codes or more, that it is probably a ECM issue. The OBD I system is different, but just clearing the codes will at least get your factory fuel curves back...until the CEL comes back on...at which point you re check them and hopefully have only 1 or 2 codes.

    Wow, I was rambling...again.

I haven't gotten it checked again but it's back on. I know it's the VSS. but an 02 Sensor might be in there as well.

I'll get nissan to check it whenever I take it in for the VSS.

  9. Dear NPORA,

I need to replace the driver's side CV boot on my 1994 Pathfinder. I would search but I haven't slept for a while and am about to pass out. So I was hoping you guys could help me out with how to replace it. What all do I need and is it difficult? I'm just worried about the auto hubs because i've never really messed with bearings and stuff.

Anyone who could help me I would be much obliged.

    Love,

    Toby

    PS: <3 xoxo

  10. Ranger is a different ballpak than a Nissan...

Did they clear the codes along with read them? One thing reading whierd will knock a bunch of ither crap out of whacktrying to compensate the bad reading... I've seen that quite a fiew times on a bunch of different stuff.

I figure some stuff as catastrophic as a crank sensor and a fuel leak would be enough to give the truck problems starting. But it starts just fine. Which is why I think it threw a bunch of other codes cause I kinda have been driving without a speedo for the past few months. Or since I got it. Not to mention the exhaust leak threw up codes for stuff.

And they cleared them. I'm gonna get the VSS replaced by Nissan and then have the codes read again.

  11. Got it fixed AND my codes read.

14 codes. Random codes too. says I have a leaky fuel injector, bad crank sensor, etc etc. Which I find odd because if stuff like that was bad you'd think it wouldn't start. I know the ranger I sold needed a crank sensor and wouldn't start until I replaced the sensor.

So needless to say I got no clue why it's throwing those codes. The only three that DID make sense were an O2 sensor, Exhaust Temp. Sensor, and my VSS.

  12. I read an article about this that its supposed to be some kind of a test for obama to see who he will listen to. I say hell no don't nuke it! It's 50 miles off our coast! I'm in south central Louisiana so as the crow flys my house is only around 160 miles from the spill. Thats too damn close for a nuke of any size. We will have enough damage to the coast without nuclear crap. They have 8 inch balls of tar washing up on the beachs right now in port fourchon. I say we all build small refineries in our back yards (no safety issues there) and go collect some of that tar!

    James

Mind you this was Obama's idea to start relying more on the oil in the gulfs. It's funny to see this blow up in his face and him try and back out of it like he didn't even suggest it.

But if they nuked it, it wouldn't be anything of size enough to damage the mainland. I don't see why a controlled explosion wouldn't do the job just as well. Did they even try to dig the relief well?

  13. I don't remember my stock exhaust having any couplers on it...And it looks like that was cut or something. Maybe someone tried to steal your cat?

At the Y-Pipe? Doubtful. It's right under the transmission. The cat is still there. There's the remains of like a coupler on there. i dunno what the deal is. Either way I just gotta get it fixed quickly for emissions next month. And take it to Nissan to get this damn VSS replaced.

  14. that doesn't look like it would have been hard to find

well it was a small leak. And I imagine there was originally some kind of coupler there that rusted off. Then after visiting the woman while she was at school it got super loud. Finally got the chance to check it out (i parked it after I got back). and found that pleasant gap. I'm gonna see if I can get someone to weld it. it's a pain. I like the truck but thus far it's given me more problems than anything else.

If it wasn't for the 4WD and fact I love the looks of it I'd sell it. Sucks having nothing but RWD cars/trucks

  15. GL4 is getting harder and harder to find. Nissan doesn't even carry it anymore. I don't know why because alot of their vehicles used it into the 90's. and the GL5 has detergents that eat the synchros in the transmissions.

  16. not to get off my own subject but I think I've heard that story already

My bad. Maybe I told you already

Man, another fresh prince of bel air reference.......

Another? First I've seen/made on here. I dunno lol
