I may be fed up with my pathfinder. But I would like to see a Nissan SUV/Truck climb this hill here lol.

Either way. This place is pretty cool. Just making a thread cause I'm in need of killing time. lol

  2. why are you calling them? Just take the part to them in person and tell them it doesn't fit, hard to duck you if you are standing in front of them

Already did. They said "well call in tomorrow for our boss" and he seems to never be there. I've been in the store multiple times about it.

It's not a huge worry considering I'm selling the truck anyway. But I'd at least like t have it in somewhat decent mechanical condition to sell.

  3. just an update. They ducked my phone call again. They'll answer, put me on hold, and then hang up.

I'm just going to buy another one and cut my losses. I'm pulling the tags this week I think and just going to get something else. I can't see the point of paying insurance when this thing is just sitting in my garage.

  4. Doesn't matter if it looked like it lined up, the fact is IT DOESN'T so return it and get one that fits

Called them today. They put me on hold, then hung up. They've been pretty weird lately. They didn't even tell me about the core charge. And their prices have been changing randomly. I'll order the part at one price, when it gets there they charge me more. I dunno though. I might just have to eat my money as said before.

  5. I would return it and get one that fits, you should not have to modify a part that is supposed to fit, if the store is a chain auto parts store and you don't like them for what ever reason maybe you can return it at another location, or if you have to go to the same store try going at a different time maybe you will get a different employee who can or will help you better.

It's not a chain store. It's a local store. Everything looked like it matched right up when they were side by side.

  6. Just an FYI i bet that the diameter of the CV's arent the same...i'd check to see if it even fits through the spindle...

I'll look at it again. It lined up perfectly. I hate to have to go back into this place because they kinda suck. But I'll have to see what I can do.

  7. That's fine, this is an exchange. Whether or not you've turned in your core should have no bearing on it being the right part. That's what you've paid for.

I turned it in because the $100 core charge had been very tempting. Money is nice.

But I don't wanna go through all of it. I'll just see if I can use the dremel to bring it out a tiny bit. I don't need alot. But just a tiny bit. It's a pain.

As for the axle thing. The WD21's ONLY CV Axles are on the front. In back is a solid rear axle.

  8. Where did you get this CV axle? Can you not return it, and get the right one for your vehicle?

An auto parts store. I turned in my core cause it looked like everything would bolt right up and the holes seemed to line up when I checked them against each other.

  9. So the problems never end on this POS truck.

When I removed my old axle and lined it up with the new one the holes looked similar. Lined up and I figured they'd be fine. Well they aren't. And I'm so ready to drag it across the scale and crush it. But I'm trying to see if I can get it fixed and enjoy driving it. Because when it's not broken, it's genuinely enjoyable to drive.

So needless to say will it hurt to drill the holes out a little bit more to get it to actually bolt up?

btw it's a CV Axle on the left front.

  10. Neon's are weak

I'd beg to differ. 150hp out of their DOHC I4's isn't far off from the WD21's V6.

Not to mention more reliable than this POS pathfinder I've had. I wouldn't mind another one but it seems one thing after another is going wrong with it so I'm avoiding them altogether.

  11. neon  I don't care how fast it is. its still a neon

Yet it was considered the "japanese car killer" in it's time lol. It performed better than all the imports when it came out.

The neon hasn't had any problems yet. In the street car or the race car. As opposed to my Pathfinder lol.

  12. glad to hear you got it out. Putting in the new one isn't much easier though lol. Regular wheel bearing grease will work fine. just try to keep the end of the shaft clean before you slide it into the back of the hub.

I wiped most of everything down and knocked off some rust lol. The axle is still in the box wrapped in plastic. I'm going to hopefully put it in tomorrow. I think the hardest part was removing the old one. Now it's just reassembling which won't be near as bad.

Needless to say I can't wait to get this damn thing out and my Neon in to mock up placement for my SRT4 Turbo

  13. Advanced Auto Parts wants like $75 for them. Then they need a $100 core charge fee. I didn't know about that when I bought mine and JUST got mine out after a month of working at it.

Any questions just come around here. People are usually helpful

  14. So I didn't need to remove the spindle entirely. I removed the shock, and the spindle from the UCA. The tie-rod nut as well, although I didn't get the tie rod end off itself. My boot is a little messed up but I'm going to mend it with silicon. It's just a pin sized hole.

All in all this has been a complete nightmare. But now that it's out I am extremely thankful and will finish putting the axle in tomorrow night when I get home. I need to get my core charge back and get some lithium grease for it. Or grease. Whichever Nissan sells me.

    Edit:

  15. So the tie rod end is DEFINITELY not coming off. So plan B: remove the spindle. I removed the spindle from the UCA and tried from there but i'm hitting the shock mount. I gotta remove it from the LCA I believe now. But it'll be a little bit until I get around to that because trying to slide the axle out it slipped out of my one hand and smashed my other hand between the axle and the spindle. So needless to say I got a nice bit of swelling in my hand. typing probably isn't the best but I got ice on it.
