Well damn. This isn't sounding all that pleasant. I got the axle most the way out without removing the tie-rod end but it's not moving anymore. So removing the tie rod would've needed to be done. This truck is a pain in the ass lol.
-
So update. Had to cut the shock off. The bolt was seized and broke off the top off the shock. I'll have to get a new one. I tried to get the Tie-Rod end off but it will not come off. So needless to say i'm stuck again. I'm about ready to just junk this thing as it's spent the better part of the month in my garage.
-
removing the Tie rod wouldn't do anything anyway. I am in the process of trying to remove the shock. That's being a pain right now because the top bolt keeps spinning. Hold the shock cover or whatever and the bolt/nut still spins.
-
Yeah I didn't have time to wait days to get a response. A regular ratchet will NOT get the bolts off the front differential. If it isn't the axle spinning it's the lack of room with the T-bar in the way. I used an impact gun and got it pretty well. My bolts were old and rusted so I gotta get new ones. But not a big deal.
It's already removed on the hub side. Just gotta get it out. Removing the tie-rod is not an option. Don't have time. Might just try with the shock removed.

What is the easiest way to remove the axle from the front differential?
I can't seem to figure out an easy way to removing the bolts.
-
it's a bit late for advice but good to know for the future lol

I'm just putting a new axle in. I am having trouble getting the old axle off. I can't figure out how exactly to get these bolts off of the axle where it bolts up to the front differential.
After I cut off the hub bolts however the rest of the assembly came off beautifully.

Bump!
Anybody got any tips for removing where the axle bolts onto the Front Differential? It just keeps spinning. And will a 6-sided socket be okay for it? I don't have any of the 12-point or whatever that is.

Got myself a little tube of them from WalMart. No. 420 or something like that. They are alot better than the crappy ones I had before. They wear down kinda fast. But overall they are pretty good. and FINALLY got that automatic locker cover off. Talk about a pain in the ass. The discs don't last very long. But I got through 5 bolts with 3 or 4 discs. So not bad all things considering.
-
they are the cheap ones that came with it.
-
did you ever fix your tension rod
That's been fixed for maybe 2 months or so now. maybe more.
First off, I think you're asking alot of a Dremmel. Have you tried doubling the disks, stacking two on the shaft?
Doesn't seem like a good idea to me. I'm all out of discs anyway. They are junk, i'll just see what else I can find honestly.
-
I'll try these. I just want to get it fixed so I can get it sold. I got one hell of a steering wobble. It feels ungodly unsafe. I'm just trying to drop it and get something else after I get this axle replaced to get my core charge.
My dremel has a LO and HI speed. That's it. I'm not putting much pressure on it at all. It's just ****** cutting discs. I'll try and grab some soon. It's too late now to try and get them.
-
So there's no possible way of getting my hub bolts out. I'm ready to just push this POS across the scale and give up. But I got a dremel so right now I'm trying to grind them off. But I keep breaking these crappy discs.
Any tips for how to grind these damn things off?

what looks crooked? which pic?
The bottom goes in more. The top looks flush, but it just looks out of line with the markers and all

It looks crooked.

The smoke would look better if the paint was a dark color, should have used a light spray of silver on them to blend them in, my opinion .
I don't think it would look good with either. Should've left it stock. Mostly because of how the light looks as a whole. It just looks like the light stops too abruptly

I was thinking more along the lines of the Mary Kay SRX

My pathfinder is getting about 22mpg lately. It's getting even better now because it's sitting in my garage waiting for me to put that axle in and fix my tire lol
-
my auto hubs are pretty awesome. I haven't had a single issue out of them. Although they don't seem to want to be removed to help me replace my axle lol
-
Dude, cut the guy a break. 12 mpg is not normal even with 32s on.
He said he didn't want to regear because it cost too much money. which should've been something he thought about so he wouldn't have this problem.
I know it's not normal and we've offered the solution lol.
-
that's way out of my budget $$$ ...
it's a future mod... and a rear locker.
regarding fuel consumption, with the correct calculations I'm getting 12,9 MPG ... that's still kinda low right?
Then don't complain about poor gas mileage. It's something you should do when you lift and get tires that are that big.
-
regearing means to change the gears in the differential (IIRC). Because you're running bigger tires you need different gears than what were moving your stock 15's. when you do that you'll want to swap in new ones into your front differential. I'd recommend getting gears from a truck that already has 31's. I don't think the 32's would make as much of a difference. But others around here are probably more knowledgable on it.

Negative wire to the negative terminal, positive wire to the positive terminal. And you'll probably want to run an inline fuse just "up-wire" from the pos terminal of the battery.
When i wired the seats in my S10 i ran the negative wire to the body and grounded it. I didn't wanna go through all that noise of running it back through the firewall grommet and all that.
Of course I am getting power straight from my fuse box.

we don't have an autozone here. I'm paying about $24 for it I think. But the whole deal is ridiculous. I have the worst luck. After this junk Nissan put into my suspension I had a hydraulic clutch line blow in the S10 today.
