  1. whats the military buggy thing? I really want a rear tire carrier, mine didnt come with one stock.but I haven't found any really good options
  2. anybody have experience having larger or auxillary gas tanks put in these trucks? I plan on doing some traveling in baja and thought this may be a good option.
  3. yeah, I probably got about 3/8" clearance in between the bump stop and UCA. I'll back that off a bit more. brand new shocks where put in with the UCAs. I'm still not sure that 1/8" isnt gonna soften up the ride enough for me.
  4. howdy after having lifted my front end, I find that the ride is too stiff for my liking on anything but pavement. I think that I cranked them a little too much causing very little down travel. but still the ride is not great after backing them off a bit. do you think that aftermarket bars(stiffer), utilizing less preload, will improve this? if so which do you prefer? I've only seen calmini and SAW. any others?
  5. i reindexed them two splines. raised it just enough that the front is a little lower than the back, which has some jeep springs in it. the bjs are in good condition.
  6. another thing... I took out all the camber alignment shims from the past alignment, leaving only 1 washer on each bolt. This appeared to be the "starting point" looking @ the FSM. the wheels are still cambered out like crazy. is it acceptable to bolt the UCA spindles directly to the frame? I'm hoping that will be enough to achieve acceptable alignment.
  7. so does everbody with a pathfinder have this problem? I dont remember hearing this issue before. pathy verses hardbody?
  8. just got "done" installing rough country UCA on my hoopty. It appears that the metal sleeve the goes between the bushings and the UCA spindle is cut too long. after everything is torqued up to spec, there are still large gaps between bushing and the stock washers, which your instructed to put back on. I'm talking like an 1/8th inch here. three things could be happening here A. the sleeve is too long B. I'm missing some parts out of the bag, although there is no mention of more spacers/washers C. this is how it is supposed to look? doubtful anyone who has these let me know what up
  9. ok so here we go this is the speed sensors home, as toby said, it is at the rear of the transfer case on the passenger side. it is help in place by a single 10mm bolt.[/img] the bolt came out simply but the sensor itself was a little trickier. I was able to use a small punch on the flange the bolt goes through to get it to spin. I then worked it back and forth and she eventually came out. oh yeah, this is when ATF pours from the hole and lands in your hair... feel free to skip that last step. this is what she looks like... cool! here it is tilted a little to better show the bolt attachment. this is the 21 tooth, got it off a 95 with 31's on it. the only one in the JY. looks like quite a hot item! it also cost me 10.00! from what toby is saying the parts is just the blue geared section, which looks easy to remove and replace with a small c-clip on the end. I haven't installed it yet, as I haven't acquired the tires yet. let you know how it goes peace wilson
  10. toby, your the man! i would appreciate any photos if they're not too much trouble. i love this place!
  11. HUH? do you mean it will have to be glued to the existing shaft or its comes glued to a shaft or what? what kind of glue? anyone actually done this? and do you have to take out the third member to get @ that sucker? i wish the scan gauge was compatible with these trucks.
  12. well, I guess that brings up another question. is the gearing the same for the xe with the smaller tires and the se with 31s?
  13. allright! I've searched the better part of sunday away trying to find a thread. I'm about to upgrade my xe to 31s. I want the speedo and odo to be accurate. I recently saw a thread with pics and part number for the replacement gear that goes in the speed sensor. can you help me find this thread... please? sorry for the revisitation
  14. howdy, just wondering if anyone had used some remote reservoir shocks(fox, procomp, bilstien) on these trucks. seems the ability to custom valve them would be interesting to experiment with. any disadvantages, insight?
  15. update: I've never been able to find the cause of the initial freak out.... it has never happened again. I've attributed it to ghosts.. and something getting wet and since drying out. as for the surging and hesitation I've got that one licked. It would seem that do to the install of headers and dickin around with a warped flange and resulting leak at the mipipe where the o2 sensor attaches has caused my sensor to finally bite it. it had 215,000 on it . it was a good run and I will miss u sir! alas I've installed a new one and she's pulling like a champ again happy trails wilson
  16. well I tried all of the above today to no avail. there is no corrosion @ the ecu connector and any sign of water. It still has the lag @ low rpm starts and then a slow surge while accelerating. it seems to get a tiny bit better when it warms up. but still lacking a little power all around. anything else to know about changing the ecu? or is it plug and play?
  17. we have been gettin an unusual amount of rain here, and puddle crushing IS one of my favorite pastimes... I havent notice any water seapage. it seems to have cleared up for now, drove like a dream to work this morning. and threw a code 55 when I parked it. I guess I'll have to wait and see.
  18. now its throwing 31 ECM. what's that exactly?
  19. it threw out code 55: no malfunction
  20. this morning, I noticed a little hesitation while accelerating at low rpms. then while I was driving home, I gave it some gas and the baddness started. it sputtered and lost all power like it wasn't getting spark or something. all the lights on the dash lit up sporadically. also the clicking noise you would get with a dead battery, in time with the sputtering and lights. so I kinda feathered the pedal keeping it driving till I got down to about 20 mph, then it just stopped and drove fine for another three blocks to my house. it then dies twice in the driveway which is on a steep incline. any idears?

  22. in the FSM front axle section. page FA-16 or 918. There is what is called a needle bearing in the exploded view. inside the knuckle spindle. seems like it would only grind if it was in four wheel. and yes, I have been driving it a looooooooong time with a torn boot.
  23. EUREKA! i think I found it! http://www.autopart.com/TOOLS/TOOLSMAIN/tool/T_4170.htm
