You will have trouble finding a Pathfinder with the LSD installed. I had to get my LSD from an Xterra. They use the same diff's and gears, axels etc. I also upgraded to the 4:66 gears (common on the Xterra) from the 4:33 standard Pathfinder. Makes a big difference but you have to swap out the front diff also.

My 03 outlets only work when the key is on. I imagine yours are the same.

Usually if it pulls it is the alignment unless it does it when braking, then it's the brakes. The shake could be bushings, bent rim, out of round tire or need to be balanced. If you have over size tires they are some times a real pain to balance right. I had to have one tire balanced 3 times before they got it right. I also once had a tire that got "out of round" and it had to be replaced. The more experienced folks on the forum will need better details to diagnose the problem. Is the shake in the front or rear, what speeds does it come on and can you speed up to make it go away or does it get worse the faster you go? Do you hear a clunk when getting on and off the accelerator? That could be U-joints, CV's etc. You can try looking at the front tires to see if they look straight....not tilted in or out. Measure the distances from the front tires at the top and also the bottom....are the distances the same? Also place a level against the outside of each front tire to check if they are plumb vertically. Some time it is hard to tell by just looking. That's about all I can offer but, it does sound like alignment problems. The front can get out or alignment real fast if you off-road a lot. I got a lifetime alignment done just for that reason. Just pull in and they fix as often as you need it done. I have had 4 alignments this year, usually after going over some nasty, knock your fillings out type of trails that I felt like my spleen was coming out of my nose. The trails out here get so abused you never know from week to week what to expect. A nice calm ride this week is an out of body experience next week. Guess that is what makes it so fun. Ya just never know.

Mine are AT's for 2 reasons. 1) I almost never run in mud in So Calif., unless some dork runs over a fire hydrant, and 2) they are quieter on the road. I know a lot of you folks are in snow and heavy rain country so the MT's would most likely be the better choice. And, of course, in the off-roading world it seems everything is some kind of a trade off. My steel rims are just basic black from 4wheel parts. I think a lot of the folks paid around $60 or so for their steel rims. I could be wrong. My 03 had a lot of excess rubber/plastic that extended into the wheel well from the mounting points. I cleaned up about an extra 1" all around plus you can heat the splash guards in the front to push them up and out of the way. I used some heavy duty zip-ties, drilled a few holes and pulled the guards about 2" deeper. It is very hard to rub the tires now unless you really stuff them bad on a obstacle and all it does is shine up the rubber. It does not happen enough to pose any real problem for me. I think the older rigs have a bit more departure angle than the new stuff. Much less cosmetic plastic sticking down. I know I gained an extra 9" in the rear by having a bumper made to follow the original outline but eliminate all the junk sticking down like air dams. I had to keep the original profile for the front due to the radiator being mounted so low and the power steering line/tranny lines being so exposed. I sure wish they would make a newer 4x4 without all the added plastic crap. Kinda defeats the whole 4x4 purpose.

Lift--------Yes! Yes! Yes! 32's..........I am running 32x11.5x15 on my 03. You can actually save money by getting new steel 15" rims and tires instead of just 16" tires. They did rub but with a good eye and a sharp knife you can trim enough plastic to make it work quite well. There is an excess of plastic/rubber in the wheel wells that is not really needed. They will still rub when you stuff them really deep but that will happen anyway you go and is not that big a deal. With the AC lift you can actually run 33x9.50x15 but the skinner tread is not good for sandy conditions. Performance.......expect really crappy gas mileage (13-14 City & 18? Highway) due to the larger tires. I did not notice any measurable power loss with my 3.5 but your engine might be different as I believe it is a tad smaller. Your 4-wheel low will not be as low as it was before the larger tires. I solved that problem by switching from the stock 4.33 gears to the 4.66 from an Xterra. Not sure if those gears are available for your rig but think they are. Strut spacers for the front are also a real bonus since the Pathy's tend to be nose heavy. I would not go over 1" due to CV joint angle potential problems. Warn hubs will solve that and are a cheap, very effective addition. The Warn's will also help the MPG by reducing added drag of the front axels always being engaged. Brakes......Get the best quality you can find, which is a good idea anyway. Exhaust.....still rinning the OEM so can't help you there.

manual locking hubs...need your opinions
RWC5S2 replied to laxman0324's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
Guess I errored in the description. It is the circular piece that engages the hub gears when you twist it. -
New rear bumper in the works...plus many other mods
RWC5S2 replied to arcano's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
Nice looking setup. I am amazed you found room under the hood for the air supply. My 03 might have room for a toothbrush with all the junk required for emission control. -
manual locking hubs...need your opinions
RWC5S2 replied to laxman0324's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
The hubs are very easy to do. If I can do it any one with an IQ above a house plant will have no trouble. I did not notice any significant MPG increase but that is most likely due to the bigger tires.....32x11.5x15. You do need to be watchful when putting the ring gear in. It will go in from either side but the wrong side will cause the axel to not engage fully. I made that mistake when I took them off to switch out the front diff. -
question about washers for the 1" spacers
RWC5S2 replied to FUELER's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
Yes, I know. I meant I only engauge the front drive while in the dirt. I got the hubs so I could disconnect the front drive when on the street and reduce the CV wear. -
question about washers for the 1" spacers
RWC5S2 replied to FUELER's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
I have the AC lift plus the 1" spacers. I have not had any problems with the CV's so far. I do have Warn hubs so the front wheels only turn if I am in the dirt. I was out last weekend doing some moderate wheeling and observed no odd noises or any other problems. -
Very nice set-up. Figures it's in Australia.
-
With the spacers installed I figured I would need an alignment so got a lifetime one done. They did not need to change the camber bolts but I had the longer ones from the AC lift. Maybe I got lucky? The tires are wearing great and no pulling or drifting.

I cheated and paid a shop to put them in. Came out fine.

Extra Driving Lights. Wiring into fog light circuit?
RWC5S2 replied to irich's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
I exchanged the OEM fog light for a pair of off-road lights when I got a new bumper. They do go off when the brights are switched on which is a bummer. I am going to wire in a new set of lights to run seperate. Hope I can get the wires through the firewall. It is not user friendly. -
Here is my 03 Pathy with the AC lift, 1" strut spacer, armor, custon rear bumper and front, 32x11.50x15 A/T's and cheap lights, which will be replaced soon.

Geez, if I had one of those I would most likely wet myself. Maybe ignorance is bliss. I try to subscribe to the "red-neck" theory. If some one says "Boy, I wouldn't do that if I was you" I figure they are right. They do look kinda cool though.

I have had 2 "tire shop" types tell me those are the only acceptable way to go if you must use a spacer. Of course, they wanted something like $200 a pop for each. They said the slip on style just causes there to be less thread showing so the lug nuts never get snugged up properly and it is easy to break them off.

I went with Bilstiens and love them. Good ride on the road but still a firm ride in the dirt. They show this model # on them...F4-BE5-6216-TO.

WOO HOO! UPS just delivered the spacers and they are awesome. Tyler, thanks for a job well done.

Hi Tyler. I will be out of town until Sunday. I shall render payment upon my return. Thanks again for getting them done.

I was running BFG 33x9.50x15 AT's with my AC lift. Had to trim just a little bit of extra plastic. Out here in So Calif I kept running into problems with loose sand so I just changed to 32x11.50x15 and have no problems with them fitting well.

I installed the camber bolts with my A/C lift just to make sure the tires alighned right. Mine needed them.
-
Very nice job. I guess I really do need to take that welding class. Amazing how it flows right into the OEM design.
-
I must put you in for Sainthood consideration after going thru all this mumbo jumbo. Major thanks to you for doing it.

Hey Tyler. How goes the battle. If it makes a difference I can buy my own hardware, just need the proper size info so I get the correct length bolts, etc. The spacers look most excellent. My Pathy is anxious to get her "nose job".
