  1. To answer the question on how much cutting I had to do, it was very minimal. I ended up taking the wheel well guards out that cover the coolant and washer fluid tanks. I trimmed them to just cover the bottles and put them back. I lost about 1/2 to 1" of inside metal/plastic on the corners to clear the tires. Took about 20 minutes to trim it to fit. Did nothing to the rear. It was basically just cutting away stuff that stuck out for no reason and did no harm to structure or cosmetics. I love the new ride, much softer even with the stiffer lift parts. Plus folks look and mumble something like, "what the #&^$%@", how did you do that.
  2. Well, I got the pic posted. I must apologize for the size. I messed up big time. Need to go back to computer for moron's class.
  3. Well, I tried to download a photo. Geez, it sucks to be old and computer illiterate. Guess I need copius instructions.
  4. Got the A/C lift which was quite a bit over 2 inches and fit Goodyear AT 33's on the rig. Only had to trim a little out of the wheel wells and nothing that took away from the outside. The rims are 15" steel with a 4" offset. The tires are only 9.5 wide but I ended up with a lift of 5" over stock. Since I don't rock crawl this ought to be a fun rig in the desert and other trails we go on.. The ride even improved. It is not as harsh as after the lift. I got the Bilstein shocks and Rancho Struts. I appreciate all the info you folks provided on my previous inquiries. Just thought I would post a shot of the R-50 so any one could see it is possible.
  5. Thanks much for the info you all provided. I got the lift from 4X4.com, supposed to be a 2" lift but it really did raise it over 3". I know it will settle some so I will be adding some strut spacers. That, and proper rims with bigger tires will get me up to a pretty decent height. The 30" tires I had got real small after the lift. I must have 6" of space left over so figured I should use some of it. Yes, I shall be careful not to get tires too big. Don't want to bottom them out and rip up all the plastic. Too bas Nissan made such a great off-road rig so much of a grocery getter with all the foo-foo junk. Oh well, everything is a trade off it seems.
  6. Hello all. I have a 2003 Pathfinder that I did a 3" lift on. I have the stock alloy type 16" rims that will only allow a 30" tire or the strut tower will rub. I would like to go 31" or 32" but need new rims that are offset so the Strut tower does not rub the tires. Being an old fart and new to the 4X4 world I need serious help so I do not make some major blunder. Also, will other vehicle rims ie; Toyota, Ford whatever, fit the Nissan. I have 6 lug nut rims. Thanks in advance for any help.
  7. Sorry for the new topic entry. I am new and had problems trying to respond. System kept telling me there was an error and kept erasing my response. Any way, my apologies to all for mentioning the stupid thing in the first place. Guess I am better off just getting mt Pathfinder dirty in the desert. That is way more fun.
  8. I am not selling the stupid things and do not care if any one buys them. I thought it was junk also but my mileage did get better. I have no idea why other than the stupid little device. The salesman at the 4x4 store lost a $250.00 sale by telling me about it. My apologies for upsetting you all.
  9. Just a general note for anyone that is interested. I was going to buy a K&N, or similar, cold air intake system but the guy at the 4x4 store told me about the Toronado unit. I had seen them and figured they were basic over priced junk. Well, I bought one of them off EBAY based on the recommendation and, honest to God, I got 3mpg better mileage on the road. I just got back from Vegas and my mileage jumped from 17 on the road to just over 20mpg. My in town mileage went from 13-14 to a tad over 16mpg. They are on Ebay for around $48.00 or so and at the current $3.00 plus a gallon rate it will not take much to recover the cost. I am going to put one on the wife's 4x4 Surburban. It needs all the help it can get.
  10. Thanks for the various comments regarding the after market filter systems. I figured they would not do all that much and I heard that dusty off road use was kinda hard on the "cone-type" filters. I do a lot of desert running along with the Gorman area that is super dusty. Guess I will stick to the stock unit.
  11. I recently bought a 2003 Pathfinder and have since done a 3" lift, new shocks, struts, tires etc. I have been considering a new air filter system such as K&N or similar. Will this improve the performance, gas mileage or any thing? And, which brand seems to be better? So many choices and so little info. It's tough being an old fart. Bob
