  1. I don't think the tires would have the clearance I want with just the body lift. I haven't even driven it yet with these tires on it. The suspension lift is due to arrive Friday and once that is installed it will be a whole new story.
  2. Funny! My plan is to be busy as heck between wheeling my new Pathfinder against my buddy's newly lifted 4Runner, boating in my Cabin Cruiser I bought in December, and sailing the sailboat I bought around the same time. Plus, I got 3 Sea Kayaks in the last couple months for the summer too. Now you can see why I am rushing to finish this project as quickly as I can.
  3. I have been spending a lot of cash for the last 2 weeks on the Pathfinder project and I reached a point yesterday where I had to be careful until I got paid this week or I might be in a spot. Then out of the blue today, my housekeeper showed up with cash for my Cabrio that she has been wanting for the last month or so. She sold her Explorer and showed up with cash. Score. Selling a car that you didn't even have up for sale has only happened to me a couple of times. She was super happy about getting the car and I cared so little for it that I haven't even driven it in months. smile emoticon Now, I can buy my winch and get the mount made for it.
  4. Now that I know what worked and didn't work, they should work for everyone. Thanks guys for being so vocal about it that it helped me figure out that there was a problem and led to the solution.
  5. thanks for the update. "I figured you would be good at this stuff"? I posted a link that I could open on any computer and others could too. I did not realize there was an issue with non Facebook people until you guys spoke up. It is not that I didn't know what I was doing, it is simply that a few people did not have Facebook. I think that the changes I made in last post will let you see them, but I have to wait for you to let me know since I am a FB member and can see all public posts. Also, I wouldn't say that page is not affiliated with NPORA. It was created by NPORA members and has over 1000 NPORA members on it. Jim
  6. That is a good clue. I guess I need to link to the actual public post and not just to my page for those who don't have Facebook. Try these. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10152763979707301&set=pcb.10152763980127301&type=1&theater https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10152762005652301&set=pcb.10152762005942301&type=1&theater https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10152764101237301&set=pcb.10152764101557301&type=1&theater
  7. Oh good... I am glad it is working for some at least. I was not understanding why that was happening. I have been careful to make my Pathfinder posts all open to the public on Facebook so anyone with a Facebook account should be able to see them. Of course, I have added and will add NPORA members as friends as they make the requests too.
  8. Thanks for letting me know. I don't know why that link won't work for you guys. I just listed the link to the NPORA Facebook page where I have shared all of my photos too as well. Here is that one again. https://www.facebook.com/groups/NPORA/
  9. I do work in IT. I am on a different computer and I just clicked on it. It opened up to my Facebook page. ??? Not sure why you are seeing broken link. The same posts are on the NPORA Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/groups/NPORA/ I need to take the time to learn how to post photos here again. I have so much going on lately between work, my boats, and the Pathfinder project, its hard to sit down and learn something new, I will work on that.
  10. Okay the body lift is installed along with 35" tires, hood light bar, lights, etc. I had to trim my radiator shroud to keep fan from hitting after body shifted up 3". Look here for latest images and updates - https://www.facebook.com/anacortesjim
  11. I was stripping any useable parts from the 95 before it went to scrap yard as backups, plus I needed a few of them right now. I couldn't get the fuel tank in time, but bought one yesterday from a guy in Granite Falls who was parting his out, plus the brush guard. I have been working on the Pathfinder every single day and in the next 10 days it will be 100% done. I did look for a Pathfinder setup the way I wanted it, but I like this better anyway, because I am building this one myself. I can take pride in knowing I made it what it is this way...
  12. I am always looking for this. I saw a Pathfinder yesterday near Granite Falls that I thought could have been it at first, but it was missing the small scar on its right rear quarter panel above the wheel well that I would recognize. I look for its parts too. All I can think is that they happened to get it accepted at a metal scrap yard or something, or it would have turned up somewhere by now.
  13. I picked up a needed fuel tank today from a craigslist donor Pathfinder and also I bought a push guard from the same rig. They are laying on piles of other parts that I stripped of my 95 before it went to scrap yard today. Now I just have to wrap things up on the 88 model. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10152753179447301&set=a.55427457300.78083.605882300&type=1&theater
  14. I got the last off the donor Pathfinder that I could get today and it finally left for the recycler about 9am. The lift kit and a few other things arrived last night, so I will get back to work on the 2 door after work today. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10152752302897301&set=pcb.10152752309577301&type=1&theater
  15. I have been getting heck about having the donor rig from my landlord (sister in law) and so I made arrangements to send it to NW Recycling at 8am tomorrow. In the meantime, I was trying to get everything of interest from the donor before its gone. The one thing I needed, that I didn't get to yet was the fuel tank. The tank in the 2 door has a slow, but wet leak and I want to swap out the tanks. I lost several hours today when my stupid air compressor started popping its relay every 4 - 5 minutes. I checked the oil, I changed the oil. I checked everything I could think of and it just kept tripping its relay after pumping for just a few minutes. I started to work with hand tools again and since it was the exhaust, you can imagine how tough it was to remove those bolts. They were difficult enough to inspire me to get serious about finding a way to get the air compressor working. I took it apart and looked it over. I decided that the breaker/relay on the compressor could be bad, so I bypassed it and it worked fine. I knew that there was a chance that it was really overheating and that if I took the relay/breaker out of the loop, it could cause a catastrophic failure. The thing is, at that point I didn't care anymore. I wanted it to either work or blow up. It worked.... Today I did remove the entire exhaust system from the donor and I took both front doors apart to get the power mirrors, power door locks, power windows, the door glass, and I took the back door apart too. I got the door lock from that door, the rear window release, the rear window itself, and its struts. I got the tail lights, the fan blower, the door panels, the radiator, the fan clutch (the 2 door has a frozen fan clutch, so it makes the fan loud by running constantly). I took the dash from the donor, the battery, the radiator shroud, and I pulled the front wheel to look at the hubs. I wanted the front hubs and rotors, even the brake pads are in very good shape, but I just ran out of time. I tried to get the door locks, because the key doesn't fit the door locks on the 2 door, but they were impossible to get loose. I have pulled locks dozens of times, but these were crazy stuck in place. I only had a limited amount of time, so I had to pick my battles. I can see that the 2 door I am keeping has had a colorful life. The original air conditioning was replaced by a certified AC shop. They put a foil business sticker in engine compartment to advertise their company, but I thought it was interesting that they installed new AC hoses, along side of the original ones. ?? That was weird and then there is the power steering lines. Someone replaced just the high pressure line and if you ever messed with those you know that the high and low pressure lines are secured to each other and its hard to separate them. They just unhooked the high pressure line and ran the new one right along side it and it looked like a mess. So, I wanted to pull these from the donor so I could clean things up on the 2 door. I have enough extra parts to last a lifetime. I guess I also wanted to pull the limited slip differential rear axle too, but I just don't have time to get it. Such a waste to get melted down at the recycler. I realized today that I think I can actually go ahead and use the 3" body lift I had bought for my Suburban. Even the rear bumper brackets seem like they will work. I will have to wait for the Pathfinder kit that I bought to raise the front bumper though. Still, that means I can start moving forward on the lift tomorrow. If I can get hold of the recyclers before they come, I may push them to later in the day and take the day off from work so I can pull that fuel tank. Needless to say, I am pooped tonight, but this is going to be one sweet Pathfinder when it's done. And it will be done in a really short time.
  16. I bought front and rear covers from EBay, as well as a ton more for this Pathfinder this past week. Here are the links of this past week's auctions... http://www.ebay.com/itm/221201202939?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT http://www.ebay.com/itm/311346099712?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT http://www.ebay.com/itm/251347320037?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT http://www.ebay.com/itm/200696767106?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT http://www.ebay.com/itm/201330776849?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT http://www.ebay.com/itm/141445818094?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT http://www.ebay.com/itm/321740511088?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT http://www.ebay.com/itm/351387629815?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT http://www.ebay.com/itm/361193325679?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT http://www.ebay.com/itm/400656381099?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT http://www.ebay.com/itm/321534308476?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT http://www.ebay.com/itm/250787581493?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT http://www.ebay.com/itm/121629297807?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT http://www.ebay.com/itm/281684113084?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT http://www.ebay.com/itm/261862691155?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT http://www.ebay.com/itm/121297229989?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT http://www.ebay.com/itm/381029351452?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT https://www.amazon.com/gp/css/order-history/ref=ya_orders_css It has been an expensive week, but I am going to get this Pathfinder ready in record time. Not included in these links were the hundreds of dollars spent at Harbor Freight and other retail stores for parts and accessories, plus I bought the 35" Wild Country Tires/Wheels from Craigslist and I got some great stuff yesterday at Garage Sales in the Mill Creek area. I am starting to see my vision coming into reality on the Pathfinder. I am for sure buying the Superlift Suspension Lift I found in in another state on Craigslist. The guy has accepted my offer and he is determining the shipping cost so I can Western Union him the cash and get it on it's way.. More as it comes.... Jim
  17. My headlight covers arrived today and they look good. I am trying to buy a Suspension lift from another state on CL and I think the guy thinks I am a spammer. Everything was fine until I told him I was in a different state and that I could send him a payment in whatever form he wished. I said Paypal was the easiest for me, but that I could send it overnight money order, wire transfer, western union, etc. and that he would choose. When he stopped replying, I called and he did not answer. I left him a message telling who I was and that he could check out the NPORA site. Still nothing... Dumb spammers ruin it for everyone... The big thing I am waiting for is the body lift I ordered, so I can put the 35" tires on. I am also bidding on a 12000 lb cap low profile winch on Ebay auction that ends in less than 2 hours with me as high bidder so far.
  18. Another $200 spent today on this project. I bought some reverse lights and some front lights. The rest was on tools. I decided to get some air tools to make things go a little faster and easier. Although, my arms have really gotten a workout with all of the rusty and frozen long fine threaded bolts.
  19. Links to Pathfinder photos http://www.facebook.com/groups/NPORA/permalink/10153156609225129/ http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10152736786937301&set=a.55427457300.78083.605882300&type=1 I bought some stuff yesterday on line that are on their way to me for this project. I ordered a nice looking roof basket rack, front steering stabilizer for the bigger tires, 3" Body Lift, train horn, radio kit, headlight covers, tail light covers, and unique hood mount light bar.
  20. the JDM motors are great, but I bought new 2 dr on 5/2/15 witg strong engine already.
  21. I am a little behind in my updates here. I bought a blue 2 door Pathfinder on Saturday and I am going to pull the best parts off the gold one to help make the 2 door as good as it can be. I am going to strip the r emaining parts off the gold 95 to have as backups. The new 2 door blue Pathy starts right up and runs strong. The motor is not the original and it only has a small leak from valve cover gaskets. I already bought new gaskets to install. It has lots of power and sounds good. The gold one has limited slip differential and the blue one doesn't. I will pull the axles for later. Its cheaper to lock standard axles than it is to lock LSD axles, so I may or may not opt to put them. I will save that for later. I may even go as far as pulling the whole drivetrain. I bought a cherry picker engine lift on Saturday too and it might be a good learning experience. I will decide that a little later too. Stuff like alternator, power steering pump, ac compressor, shocks, power windows, door locks, tail lights, bumper lights, etc. will be pulled for my own private inventory. So, here is what has been done so far on the new blue 2 door Pathy. I bought it Saturday and got home about 6 pm. The blue Pathy had a bad squeal when rev'd over 2000 RPMs and that was first on my list. I got it on ramps and crawled under to check it out. I could not believe what I was seeing. First, the belt was slipping because it was old and stretched beyond its limits. What shocked me was that they had installed a brand new alternator very recently and when they could not seem to tighten it enough to stop the squeal, them torqued the tensioner bolt of the alternator to the point that they first bent that bolt in the middle and finally they broke the head off that bolt too. So, it was doing nothing. Next, I noticed the lock bolt that holds the alternator in the tightened position was going through the holes at an angle, because it was not the correct bolt. It was about 1/3 the diameter of the hole. That was bad, but then I saw the nut they had on the other end of that bolt. It was screwed on the bolt at a 30% angle, because it was the wrong size nut and not even the same thread type. Wow... I have to say that I really like having a donor rig sitting beside the one I am working on, so every time I see something weird like that, I just pull the whole mechanism from the donor and move the whole thing over. I installed correct parts on the 2 door and the donor Pathy even had brand spanking new belts, so I moved them over too. The front end of both rigs had damage, but between the two I was able to piece together one complete front (headlights, mounts, corner lamps, bumper, grill, and license bracket) and after some light sanding and new paint, the new front end on the 2 door looked pretty good. The rear bumper was trashed on the 2 door and the other Pathy had a nice one. I had a time remove both bumpers. Rusted and seized nuts and bolts led to several snapping off. The big bolts on one side of the 2 door could not be removed, because the bracket that connects both bolts snapped off and since they were not standard bolt heads, there was nothing to grab onto to hold the bolt in place while I removed the nuts. What a pain... I found one work around after another without doing a rigged crappy job. I cleaned up the area around and under the rear bumper before installing the new pieced together version. I also sanded and painted that bumper before installing it. It looked good too. While I was working on the rear bumper, I noticed the smell of gasoline an upon closer inspection I could see seepage from the tank. I can't see from where exactly, but it looks like I will be pulled the fuel tank from the 95 too. I love having a donor rig... Went to bed at about 2am. Sunday, I focused on the interiors. The seats in the 2 door were not ripped, but they smelled awful. They were pretty worn too. The rear seats were not as bad, but the base had some small stains and had to come out anyway to access carpet, so I opted to pull those. I was going to leave the rear seat backs, but then I noticed that they did not have head rests on them like the 95 did, so I pulled them too. The carpet was so bad. I mean bad. I had never seen such nastiness. It was supposed to be gray, but they were black, brown, and smelled like vomit, wet dog, and a 2 year old yeast infection. Nice... Needless to say, the carpet was headed to the trash. I removed the same parts from the 95 in preparation for the swap. The seats and the carpet were in good shape on the 95 gold Pathfinder. They could use a light cleaning, so I will do that and then scotch guard them afterwards. I couldn't believe how many coins I found under seats, then under the carpet, and down in every nook and cranny under the carpet. I have a couple of pounds of coins literally. I had one surprise when I grabbed something with my finger down in a hole that felt like a cocoon and it popped. Tons of spiders went everywhere. My worst nightmare. Give me a rattlesnake any day over spiders. That was in the 2 door in all of that nasty carpet. There are lots of photos on my Facebook and I made them viewable to the world, so you should be able to see them. They are also on the NPORA Facebook page. I cleaned everything out to prep for new interior. I noticed that the 95 had under seat duct work for the heating and cooling system. I decided to install those in the 88 too. The shift boots were thrashed on the 88 and someone had a ridiculous shift knob installed too. It is interesting to see how many things that can be Jerry rigged in the life span of a 27 year old vehicle. Speaking of that, there was a new set of power steering lines installed, but they left the old ones in place with just the ends disconnected. Also, the AC lines were professionally replaced, but again they left the old ones routed in place. There is a bunch of heavy wiring installed for lighting and for rear amplifier and speakers. I will reuse some of that as I start to look at those systems. Today (Monday) I bought 4 Wild Country 35" Boggers on decent looking 10" deep alloy wheels. I got a great deal on them too. I could see I would be needing a better quality floor jack to install tires and the body lift, so picked up a 3 ton floor jack with 18" max height. I can make that work. Plus, I have my trusty High Lift jack. I used that one to install the lift on my original Pathy about 14 years ago. It is still like new. Just for kicks, I wanted to see what would happen if I tried to install the 35s without the lift. They actually bolted on with about 1/4" clearance on bottom edges of the fenders. That surprised me. I figure a 3" body lift should make everything fit nicely. Things are coming along great. It won't be long before I will be out on the trails again. More updates to come...
  22. That would be a done deal if it's still available. I sent them a PM message. Thanks for pointing that out to me.
  23. No, not that one. That one has a blown transmission and the engine has valve clatter.
  24. I am moving forward on the Pathfinder. I may end up buying a second one too. I have my eye on a 2 dr in the area that I am going to try to see today.
