  1. Okay, its cool, but no way would I pay $8500 for that. A fool and his money are soon parted.
  2. I was just reading about the JDM engines and that is a pretty good idea if I could find one in my area, especially for the price you found. The average mileage on those engines is 35,000 because Japan makes owners do bi annual inspections to license them and its cheaper to buy new, so they dismantle the old cars for parts. Nice...
  3. I wasn't aware that this version needs as many mods as the 3.5. That is the kind of info I am looking for here. Thanks. And, yes the 3.0 in MrJIm 1 was bored over when it was rebuilt back in 2002. It was a good engine before and it had a whole lot more power after the $4500 rebuild. The point was that I am not against the 3.0 generally. Just doing things like cold air intake and the right exhaust can make a big difference.
  4. I may consider a rebuild, but if I could find a strong clean low mile motor it would be less expensive and quicker. I am planning far more than just a motor in this, so I don't want to spend a fortune on the engine alone. The 3.5 has to have some mods done to swap and I was always really happy with my 3.0 ltr that was in the orginal MrJim Pathy.
  5. I found a 2000 Maxima with the 3.0 ltr engine. They had both the 3.0 and the 3.5 options that year. This is an interesting version of the 3.0 ltr that is rated at 223 HP, a vast improvement from our stock 153 hp 3.0 ltr engines that came stock with the Pathys. It ends with a K in engine code for a word that literally means IMPROVED in Japanese. Here is the write up on Wiki. Let me know what you guys think about this as a possible engine choice? An improved version of the VQ30DE is known by the designation VQ30DE-K. The K designation stands for the Japanese word kaizen which translates to "improvement". The engine was used in the 2000–2001 Nissan Maxima and adds a true dual-runner intake manifold for better high-end performance compared to some earlier Japanese and Middle-East market versions of this engine (2000-2001 Infiniti I30 models added an additional fenderwell intake, boosting power to 227 bhp). The VQ30DEK produces 226 PS (166 kW; 223 hp). The 1995–1999 US spec VQ30DE was equipped with only a single runner intake manifold
  6. I had just worked 24 hours straight when I was trying to post that photo. I was too tired to mess with it too much. I just woke up after a day of catching up on my sleep. I will get the photo straightened out so it can be seen. I was tempted to pick up a 2 door to replicate a sweet bobbed Pathy that was posted on the NPORA Facebook page, but this one was too good of a deal and it is just like my original, so maybe I will do a 2 door later. Actually I have found another WD21 that is in good shape with exception of those darned automatic issues and I can buy that for $350. I was gonna grab it for the motor and then scrap the body which would have paid me back. Now, I am thinking that I could even pick that one for project 2. It could be fun to have a backup rig for girlfriends or friends to join me on trail runs with. That one is a blue 4 door. I like the suggestions. Keep them coming. I have some interesting ideas myself, but help me expand my options by suggesting things on your own wish lists.
  7. If you can't see my link it is because you aren't a Facebook friend. I will add you if you want. Its nothing special yet. It is pretty stock clean rig same color as my old one. Thanks for positive vibes everyone!
  8. Hello Everyone! Well. It is time for me to give you all an update to let you know all of the great things in the works for me. For those who do not know me, I am MrJim and I created NPORA many years ago. My beloved 94 Pathfinder was my boy and it was stolen last year while I was preparing to do a engine swap. It vanished without a trace and was never seen or heard of again. I can only think that they somehow scrapped it at one of the area recyclers that have a reputation for taking rigs with little or no paperwork. Otherwise, my rig was so unique I know someone would have seen it somewhere by now. It was stolen last June. Also, I had been on disability from injuries I had in 2009 and my income was painfully low since then as I was on Disability through Social Security. Plus I was dealing with chronic pain and lots of health issues that whole time. Last July, I reached the point where I was ready and able to return to work and get off of disability. My health is great after a lot of hard work and effort. I was able to get the same job as a computer engineer that I used to have a different company for a great income again. Between learning to streamline my lifestyle so much to survive living on social security and no longer having greedy or destructive women in my life, I am rocking my bank account with few bills to pay. This week, I found a 1995 Pathfinder that is the same color as my stolen Pathy (MrJim) and I bought it. It needs refurbishing and some engine work, but I have the good health and the deep pockets to build this one out to be something pretty unique. I am really excited about it. I could have bought something newer, but this is in honor of my original MrJim Pathy. I will build this one as MrJim II and I am going to look at ways to make it stand out from the rest as I build it. I am pumped and you can all bet that I will be hitting the trails regularly again once it is ready. Life is not good, its Awesome!! I am inviting everyone to offer input for ideas and suggestions for my most personal new build. For starters, this one needs engine work and I am debating whether to fix this 3.0 up, or do a swap with something different. It has a 5 spd and I like that. It has a good clutch, but I will be pupping a fresh one in it obviously while messing with the engine. Next, I am gonna do some front winch bumper shopping, sliders, a winch of course, maybe a beefier rear bumper, maybe a snorkel, a lift for sure, the perfect set of tires for it, lighting, roof rack, and so on. I was strapped for cash so often when I was working on the orginal MrJim. This one ought to be much more fun to build and much quicker too. Here is the stock basic rig that I just bought. Remember its meager beginnings now. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10152709784132301&set=a.55427457300.78083.605882300&type=1
  9. I know it is a rolling barn, but it's nice and will be ready to flip to someone else in as month or so. It's s decent rig for now. Plus I do like your idea of making them look rusty, or it could say graffiti or the words law enforcement, police, etc I'm on my Samsung Galaxy phone so I don't know how to upload photos on this app. Imagine charcoal color with a small lower section of lighter gray at the bottom. Long with all options except sunroof. We were planning a camping trip in August and you couldn't ask for a better rig to sleep in. Huge in back. It is no Pathfinder for sure, but it will do in a pinch
  10. I tried really hard to find a Pathfinder to buy this last week that I liked. I sold my Miata and the money was burning a hole through my pocket, so I had to buy something fast. I looked at a lifted 95 XE in Lynnwood, but the engine was ticking, the interior looked and smelled like it spent most of its life under water. It was just too much to overlook. I had my eyes on another in Bellevue, but apparently others did too. I went to the local car auction yesterday and there were no Pathfinders. I looked for a decent rig to flip for cash and ended up buying a 1999 Suburban. Its pretty nice, but it had tons of trail scratched down the sides. I got my serious polish out and did one fender to see that it nearly completely wiped it smooth again. I was amazed. I went and bought an actual buffer to make the job easier, but this should be good advise to you all. Wax your rigs good before you hit the trails. It really deflects so much would be trail scratches. I used to think it would be a good invention to make a removable clear skin to stick to the sides of your 4x4 before you went onto trails to protect from scratches and then you would just peel off afterwards.
  11. No news. I spoke to the Police again and they said that no one has reported seeing it abandoned or trying to be salvaged, etc. yet. I advised them that the winch was locked in by the welded bumper, that it has emblem on both sides saying "size matters", that there is a single straight crack down the very center of the windshield, the NPORA stickers, lights, etc. He made sure everything was in the report and he told me the older Pathfinders have always been high on the stolen car reports. I will lookup the VIN to add some of it here. I wonder if anyone still knows the VIN from the Infinity we bought in Eugene, OR for the engine that was stolen also. I would like to give the cops that info. Thanks to everyone for keeping an eye on Craigslist and the streets for any signs of it. Sorry to hear about the others who have lost their rigs this way too.
  12. You guys are funny. No, the ex has been someone elses tormenter for several years now. We were together over 20 yrs and have not had one conversation since that 4 yr nasty divorce ended in 2009. And I couldn't be happier. And I could handle losing my pathy to a crashing avilanche, or sliding off an icy mountain top at 4400 ft, but to lose it to some sorry thieves who think they are just so clever to steal from hard working people, that is just too much. It does make me want to hunt them down and male them suffer. If that happens, I'd love to video it and post it here, but something tells me that one mmight go viral... We will see. In the meantime, everyone please keep their eyes open and watching for my pathy in parts or whole. Thanks everyone!
  13. Well my awesome F250 caught fire less than a year ago and since the insurance agent misunderstood when I had asked to put comprehensive only back on it a month earlier, like my other cars that I didnt drive daily, it had no coverage. I was so sick over that literally. It had a rebuilt 460, straight body, excellent wheels and tires, and perfect interior that I had spent 2 years building up myself and it had a nice stereo system too. Such a loss. Then the Fire dept took 45 mins to show up on the middle of an I-5 interstate overpass right in the center of everett wa. There was no excuse for it. I ended up having to take $450 for scrap metal from it. Then my camper was broken into on the ranch where I live and nasty crack whores stunk it up with bloody tampons in the bathroom and kitchen sinks as they apparently lived in it for days unnoticed. It was parked beside my Pathfinder at the time, so I locked down everything in and around my Pathfinder when that happened and it was also sitting in plain view of neighbors on all sides. It was those very neighbors 6 months later who watched the guys break into it in broad daylight, break the steering loose, and hook up the tow bar to their older grey pickup and tow it right out of there in plain view. The neighbors said the thieves were so obvious and doing this in the middle of the day that they just assumed I mudt have sold the Pathfinder to them. Two of those neighbors are in charge of our stupid neighborhood watch too. Nobody wrote down any tag numbers or make any phone calls to check it out in the 2 hours that they were doing this. Again, I had no insurance on it, because it was parked in such a high visibility spot and the cops had vowed to increase patrols. Plus, I just couldnt afford to insure everything at the time. I had 2 out of 3 vehicles insured and of course they took that one. The kicker is that they also drilled out the locks on the storage building there and they also loaded up both trucks with thousands of dollars of antiques and collectibles. Awesome neighborhood watch, don't you think? I believe it is actually friends of a family member because they knew exactly who to be concerned about watching them and who not to. Plus, our family business was burglarized 60 miles away during the same time frame and that is way too coincidental. I am furious about all of it and I have gotten some new info this past few weeks that could lead me to them. If I find my Pathfinder at someones house, I am gonna hook it up to tow it home, but before I leave I am gonna torch every car, building, and outhouse around it and them dare them to call the police to try to explain why I was there to begin with. That would feel really good... Hell hath no fury like me when I hunt this scum down myself. God help them. (But only a little)
  14. Yeah I agree that security measures can be side stepped. We had also talked about security cameras just months before this happened. It had a tow bar on the front that had a busted lock down latch, but it was still usablelobviously. They backed a Grey truck up in broad day light in full view of neighbors, hooked up the tow bar, and took off. Talks of it being someone close to family that knew details helping them to do it easier.
  15. I havent moved on about the Pathfinder by any means, but I'm trying not to let it ruin every day. I had a new engine sitting inside the back door and it was also full of new parts like new clutch, new radiator, timing belt, nice DVD stereo, rear locker, etc. All in boxes. It was parked in a place where it was supposed to be pretty secure too. Plus, it was locked, wheels had locks on them and the front ARB bumper was welded to the frame - securing the m8000 Warm winch, so I had taken precautionary steps to keep it safe. I am very upset about it and I hope the cops find tge responsible parties before I do for their sake. I am furious at whoever is responsible. I am absolutely not over it. All I have been able to determine so far is that the thieves where at least two white guys driving a grey older pickup, and that they left the property heading north. I know a few more things that the police told me, but I think it's best not too discuss those publicly just yet.
  16. Yeah, I love my Miata. I did a 500 mile cross country race with 26 other Miatas from a local club and I came in #2, by just a hair at the end of tge day. My buddy Steve was my co-pilot and it took him a few hours to feel comfortable with my all out driving, but by the end of the day we were doing 60mph 180s, and one very sweet reverse 180 that was flawless. I had a blast and I got to drive like I did when i was a kid again growing up in Georgia. My 1990 with smaller 1.6 ltr rebuilt engine could drive right up to any of the newer 99+ models with 1.8 ltr engines. So much fun...
  17. hey everyone, there's nothing new to report on the Pathfinder yet. I really appreciate those of you who have posted on Facebook and you have kept an eye out for me. It's such a unique Pathfinder then I can't see how they could hide it for long. The ARB bumper is welded to the frame locking the eight thousand pound Warn winch in place. the wheels and tires are locked in place with locks on each hub. sorry for any typos or capitalization errors. I am speaking this into my phone in my convertible at 60 miles an hour
  18. Hi everyone, No news yet. I found out that there was a black pickup that backed up to a garage and the guy started loading up parts until the owner walked out and surprised him just a couple months ago and this was 2 driveways down the road. The guy jumped in his truck and took off, but since he hadn't actually got the parts into his truck and since the truck was registered out on the Peninsula, the cops said there wasn't much they could do about it. I called and had them add the info to my police report, but I am pretty sure the cops are going to do little to resolve this. They prefer to spend their time writing tickets. There is a neighborhood watch meeting on Sunday and the police are invited, but the neighbors said that police didn't come to the last meeting that they were asked to be at, so who knows if they will come this weekend. The building that the Pathfinder was parked at had its front door commercial locks drilled out and a bunch of antiques and collectibles were taken at the same time. A camper of mine was broken into and burglarized at the same location about 6 months ago and a bloody tampon was left in the sink. Nasty... The who camper stank so bad that I could barely get it aired out. Of course it was ransacked too. It looked like someone had been living in it for days/weeks? I am sure that was drug related, but the Pathfinder and burglary this time was so ballsy and they got away clean, so I think it was someone who knew what they were doing. I feel like it had to be someone who knew the family since the thieves did this in broad daylight in full view of the surrounding homes owned by people we don't really associate with. Its like they knew that none of those people would even think twice about it, because they wouldn't know who should be and who shouldn't be hanging out there. My mind is blown at how they did this in the middle of the day with people watching. I tried to post an ad on Craigslist several times, but a-holes keep flagging and deleting my ads. These guys would have had to break into it, since the doors were locked. The wheels have locks on them, so it will have my tires and wheels on it, no matter what. I had added it back to my insurance a few weeks back for fire/theft, along with my Trooper, but after talking to one of the neighbors who said it was taken a week or so before Memorial Day, I made a decision to not file an insurance claim. I think it may have been gone already when I added them back to my policy and so I felt like it was a good moral decision to just cancel the policy and hope for the best that I get my truck back. So, there is no insurance, except for all of you to help keep an eye out for it on the trails or online as a parts truck. Whatever happens, I am thankful to have had the last 5 years that NPORA gave back to me with my Pathfinder.
  19. Yes, nothing would make me happier than to find my Pathy again. Too many people know it. I know someone will help me find it. Spread the word. Thanking you all in advance. MrJim
  20. MY PATHFINDER WAS STOLEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I came home on Sunday and went to get something from my Pathfinder (which had been parked on side of family farm) and it was GONE. It was not insured, because I was in the middle of repairs. I had new Engine, Clutch, Radiator, Thermostat, etc. etc. etc. all in boxes inside locked vehicle awaiting to be installed. I spoke to a few neighbors and one told me that she saw some guys about a week before Memorial Day working on the Pathfinder all day in the middle of a sunny day and they TOWED it out of the lot with an older gray pickup. She said she thought we had just sold it or something. They stole in on a sunny day in full view of several neighbors with people outside washing their cars, watering their lawns, etc. watching them. Not insured, no recourse, except to put the word out in my offroad club. My Warn Winch in my ARB bumper, etc. I am so upset.... It was stolen from 1125 Orchard Ave, Snohomish, WA 98290. I had every reason to think that it was safe and sound parked a block down the road on our property. It was deep on the lot even, Not even remotely close to the street. It took insane gawl to break into the locked vehicle in broad daylight in full view of all neighbors and then to use an 80s-90s older pickup to tow it out using the stolen chains and tow lines from inside. It had full light rack with lights, my m8000 Warn Winch, ARB Bumper, 33" Wild Country Mud Tires, 15x8 Alloy Wheels (with security locks), in dash DVD player, and all of the components listed on my personal page here. Plus, there was a 120k Infinity Engine in the rear plus many new parts in boxes that were to be installed with new engine. None of which was insured... HELP ME FIND THOSE RESPONSIBLE and HELP ME FIND MY PATHY!!!!!!
  21. Thankful for my friends....

  22. Hey All, I wanted to thank you again for your amazing support and I wanted to let everyone know that I am doing great and that I am at total peace with everything now. I know that my mom lived her life preparing for the day that she would be called home to the next world and I know that she was looking forward to it with great excitement and anticipation. All of this has allowed me to see things much clearer since her death and of course I will always be sad that I cannot pick up the phone and hear her fun laugh, I know in the deepest parts of me that she is a place of joy and wonder now. I am reading a book called Proof of Heaven that is amazing and I recommend it to everyone. We are all connected and our biggest misconception in this life is thinking that we are alone. We are never alone and when we die it just frees us from this physical plane to experience a level of living that we can only begin to understand from where we are now. Knowing this, how can I be anything but overjoyed for my mom now? This family that I have in NPORA has always been something amazing to me. I have friendships around the world with people I have never seen face to face and yet I feel their presence in my life all of the time. I appreciate each and every one of you and I hope that my words serve a bigger purpose for some of you in your lives too. Life is Good! Jim
  23. Thank you everyone. I am doing better. I know that nothing was left unsaid and that she was prepared in every way for that day. We were very close and that is why I didn't know what gieving was until this week. I appreciate the kind words and support. She is remembered being funny and happy.
  24. Thank you everyone. I know she is in a better place.
  25. Thank you. I appreciate it. She is one of those people who you can't help but smile and even laugh when you think about her. She had a great sense of humor right through to the last day. We were always playing practical jokes on one another and she was just as bad as any of us kids were about it. She was hiding a remote control fart machine under peoples chairs at the retirement home where she lived and would press the button during dinner to get a laugh out of everyone. She was 84. The memories of my mom are all good ones. The cruel reality that I will never be able to pick up the phone and hear her voice again is still very painful and fresh. She touched many lives.
