  1. www.paragonap.com has alot to offer even stock truck. I just did the october monthly trailride and didn't clunk once. can't say the same for the ram behind me or the FJ 2 cars in front of me though. Im basically stock 92 SE pathy with 31's JGC springs and cranked bars. Even a stock xe would be fine. A stock liberty diesel was there nuff said! Scott
  2. i woudn't use the foam in the frame but for filling holes in body panels then painting over it to seal the foam its worked wonders for many years. to each his own but i'd rather have the foam seal up the rocker panels then let em rust worse and worse from the inside out. I've been very lucky with that (great stuff brand) foam. It doesn't seem to hold moisture much either and its been tested esp in homes. Good luck. Scott
  3. Bleh the altezza lights clear is ok if you put some red led's behind it would be more lexus. sounds like those late 90's lights opposed to the lexus is300 wannabe's Scott ps just add some smoke spraytint it'll be cheaper
  4. i did the monthly trailride at paragon last month only pathy there. Im in northeast NJ. Just got a beach buggy pass for the jersey shore so from sept-may you can go from normandy beach- past seaside to island beach state park somewhere around there its a dover pass only ran 10 bucks for the season. Made the pathy feel like it had 10hp though. scott
  5. i fixed my frame just welded a few pieces of metal with a 110amp welder its not pretty but its good to go and i have zero experience welding its easy to learn as you do saves alot of $$$$. As far as other silly holes use a grinder or dremel use some rustoleum or rust paint and fill in fender holes or rocker holes with that expanding foam from home depot its great and stops the moisture from entering. Under my back seat i cut aluminum flashing (or part of an antifreeze bottle will work too) and sprayed where the hole was under the rear seat with the foam filler put the flashing over it with a weight 24hrs later it was super solid as the foam expands and used rubber undercaoting underneath to seal everything from the bottom. I HIGHLY recommend it as a cheap fix the foam cost 4-5 bucks and i reuse mine after clearing the old foam from th tip with a screwdriver. If you do this USE GLOVES as it doesn't come off your hands. Scott
  6. i just had my truck on the beach for the first time this weekend wow a few extra ponies would have been nice. 1st gear 4 high i didn't have enough to get me up the exit dune and 4 low was digging too much. Yeah the tires were lowered. I was shocked how much power the sand robs. I'll have to peek at the intake box today and take some pics. Scott
  7. I must first admit ive been a diehard toyota guy til i aquired my 92 pathfinder and was very set to purchase a tacoma but the deal on the pathy was too hard to pass up sooo.... Anyway the toyota guys have a mod that i think would be great for all nissans as ive done this mod to a 05 frontier and it was outstanding. the deckplate mod is a marine plate in 3-4in diameter that basically you cut a 3-4in hole in your airbox (prefilter side) and install this deckplate basically allowing our airbox to be used as a full open air intake but when needed for water and offroading can be capped in a matter of minutes. I see everyone looking for cheap free power and this as close as it gets. I don't feel an open air intake has any business on an offroad truck but this setup is a winner. My plan for my pathy is similar but our airbox shape won't allow a 3-4in hole cut (although other year nissans might allow it but was planning on using a plumbing 2.5in cleanout plug with cap and install that on our airbox allowing freer breathing. In lowe's it cost 68cents for the cleanout and 68 cents for the cap so very cheap and if it yields one mpg on the highway i'd say it was worth it. it will certainly give a nice growl. here is a link to the toyota deckplate mod. enjoy! http://www.tacomaterritory.com/forum/showthread.php?t=38 Scott ps why don't we have a cheap tricks section?
  8. my abs light is on all the time i'd guess its my rear sensor on the rear. Im not a fan of abs anyway so whatever. yankin the bulb or electrical tape over the abs light works! Scott
  9. just finished welding someplating on my frame i had big holes in the rear. What can you do the salt will eat em alive. make sure you undercoat em after! I bought a piece of steel from lowe's a 4ft piece cut it with the grinder my buddy welded it with his tiny 110 welder and voila good to go. Goodluck. Scott
  10. I wheeled wtih a group of 20 or so trucks last weekend at www.paragonap.com last weekend and my 92 SE pathy on 31's wtih JGC coils and cranked bars on at tires at 22lbs went everywhere the other trucks went plus some. I wheeled wtih rubicons, new frontiers, new fj cruisers, wranglers, cherokees. even a sole Dodge ram which scraped his diffs all day. I think two determinng factors are tire selection 31 or 32 are good and skill to pick the right line. what are you looking for? If mud is your thing a big v8 and swampers are your thing. Until this jan i was a hard core toyota guy and a tacoma TRD was my plan til this great deal of a path came along. the LSD is great and it flexes pretty well and overall im happy. Don't go crazy on the mods and she'll be fine. Scott
  11. Would sure be nice ot have those extra 20 ponies with an injection mod and ecu mod but unfortunately the ecu's much be quite different. I can't imagine them being interchangable or...... ? how nice would that be get a maxima ecu and enjoy 20hp. That would put new meaning to buying one of those ebay "super chips" people keep asking about. Scott
  12. I went offroading at www.paragonap.com this weekend in pa and the pathy did great but someone there asked me an interesting question regarding the vg30 used in the pathy and the maxima. he said that the the internals of the two engines were the same and the maxima had 170hp and pathy only 150 and the added power was only from a diff ecu and exhaust. doesn't sound right to me but i'll throw the question out there. Sounds like a diff cam was used but i don' t know. Anyone have a solid answer? Scott ps paragon was a great place to offroad i'd highly recommend. i went with a buddy with a new 4dr frontier 265hp lifted 2.5in on 33in bfg at's and my pathy performed flawlessly even when the water went over the headlights. Not one clunk on the rocks not one bump on the diffy. I got quite a few compliments on my driving (thanks to 15+years of atv riding i'd guess and learning how to pick a line) the open diff jeeps and new fjcruisers didn't have anything on the old 210k miles 92path.
  13. i have my radioshack one mounted underneath the radio area under the plastic. It fits quite well there. Its more to the right away from the 4wd part and the mic rests in the change thing in the center console. i don't have one of those huge cobra cb's its maybe 4in wide 7in deep or so. I have the antennae mounted to the spare tire carrier with a modified slightly trunk mount( 2 allen screw) piece. It comes up between the tire carrier and the tire nice and low profile wiht the metal antennae not fiberglass. I tapped into the cigarette lighter power for juice BTW. Scott
  14. its some sort of resistor plug for the trans only neg effect is you may get a check engine light as the trans guy said but i get a flashing power light on the switch on the dash when the truck it turned on then never flashes again. that plug is only trans related so no ill effects will happen with the rest of the truck. It worked for me and im at 208k now thanks to that mod. It got unplugged around 205k. now i have to shift my attention to the salty winters which did a nice number on the frame....... scott
  15. yeah 31 in at's 14-15mpg city 20 highway is best so far. and 33's travel farther then the odo reads so in theory your prolly netting 20+mpg which doesnt sound right..... scott
  16. unplug the gray plug under the hood above the passenger wheelwell you will see it bolted to the fender side. Unplug and try out the trans. I was told this was a resistor limiting pressure in the trans and if unplugged the Power light flashed but it creates more pressure inside a worn out trans giving it more time. Mines unplugged and reverse works and slipping is very limited opposed to the way it was before unplugging. def worth a try so unplug take it for a ride and try reverse. let us know how it goes. Scott ps before i unplugged this the mechanic put a different resistor inline for an added boost of pressure and it helped but i still had slipping now with it unplugged completely it works very well. This guy learned this on an early 90's maxima and 3 yrs later the maxima is still working so..........
  17. where in jersey or philly are you from? im from northern NJ i'll spread the word about your ride. Whats the details on it? Shoot me a message. sorry to hear about the bad news. Ive gotten burned on alast vehicle by aamco so i can feel your pain. scott
  18. i know procomps were on sale the es3000 which are comparible to the rancho 5000 4 shocks and stabilizer for 120$ from 4wheelparts.com ive been debating getting them as my orig adj shocks have to be a bit worn even though they work at 208k. From what ive seen shocks new don't give height but being new and strong will lessen the sag witha load even without a lil. I have JGC v8 springs in the rear and front cranked bars that are starting to resag a lil or settle whatever you wanna call it but it lets the pathfinder sit how the stock 4wd pickup sat. def a plus and very cheap. I bought my springs off ebay real cheap i know new at kragen or similar stores they are 70-80 for the pair. now thats its lifted i want MORE height but a bodylift isn't in store for me . good luck Scott
  19. 208k miles runs like a champ this past weekend straight highway got 20mpg normally 15ish. Its got JGC coils and a trans that slips but im working on that. Scott
  20. i should be getting back my pathy today from the trans shop. The older guy that works there knows a way to adjust the slip out of the pathy trannies. there is a screw on the upper right side to adjust the belt inside and he is putting aresistor inline which fools the tranny into putting more pressure out making the trans operate better. He said its not gonna make it new but will make it how it was 50k miles ago and im at 206k so thats good to me!. Better then a 500$$$ trans that might not be good plus install sincei don't have the room here in cramped NJ. Scott
  21. pressure solonoid? would this be the same for the prob i described the tranny slipping (tach rising like a slipping clutch) and when floored say in first or kickdown to third and it pulls to redline but stays there. I'd love to think its a comptuer function. truck doesn't slip when power button is switched on. or very little it appears as when the throttle is depressed truck downshifts and pulls well. seems that 1st and 3rd in the auto are fine but 2nd and OD aka 4th seem to slip any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Scott ps here's my email if there are lengthy explanations or anything speedbuggy67@netzero.net thanks again.
  22. just got mine at 205k miles but isn't too bad i did quite a few things already but... window struts need to be done i did the rear door already hazzard light and others don't light up cb needs installing nerf bars need installing exhaust leak tick tick tick trans slips a lil gotta put in the non slip fluid guess thats about it but i have a ton of installs to do hella lights lift shocks cb hitch nerfs Scott
  23. I was gonna try some lucas transmission no slip see how that works in my trans with 206k on her but it slips going up hills when you depress the gas at say 70-75 or in 2nd at 25-30. My mechanic put this stuff in it and the shifts got so nice and soft no banging but i know lucas is pretty decent stuff anyone else have luck with it. BTW my reverse is perfect i know thats a tell tale sign of wear. Thanks in advance. Scott
  24. ooh good to know about the power button automatically going on thats a good sign. Maybe ill reset the ecu by disconnecting the battery and letting it stay detached for a while an see if the trans shifts any different. Maybe it is shot and i need a replacement i was hoping i woudn't have to. I just bough the truck cheap but put total 1700 into it including th cost of the truck timing belt brakes etc etc. I guess a good orig used one would be 500ish on ebay or junkyards. I'd hate to install a "new" tranny only to find itdoesn't shift right due to some electrical thing. ill have to figure otu how to do a tranny test. Scott
  25. its weird if i floor the pathy sometimes the power light goes on but most of the time its not on unless switched on is that normal? i remember my old toyota the power button was either on or off. do the pathfinders have a sensor that if you need "power" it automatically kicks it in? If my truck isn't working properly what sensor would be bad the auto ecu or ???? Im getting slipping in the trans like a manual with a worn clutch disc: just not in first but on the highway say at 70 and you give it a little gas and tach jumps up but truck isn't going. 2nd up a hill it will slip too. I'd love to hear the trans was fine just something electrical but with 206k..... Thanks in advance. Scott
