  1. I would still change the fluid, go to a shop that has the flush machine and have them do it. Use either AMSOIL or Nissanmatic S (or J).

Remember my thermostat thread? lol Your water pump failed due to the fan clutch being locked all the time before you replaced the fan. I had to replace the fan clutch otherwise the water pump would have been toasted like yours was. For me the temp is also slightly below the half now but it used to go past the 1/2 way point. I took it to the shop, they flushed the system and replaced the thermostat and hoses yet it was still going past the 1/2 mark. I took it back and they replaced the radiator too and refilled it again. Finally, it was good. Right now I am on a 180 degree thermostat and the gauge also looks like its a bit off but its still below the 1/2 point. Now this is important, make sure your fan's temp sensor works. BTW, where is that bleeder screw? What's wrong with just opening the radiator cap when the thermostat opens?
  3. lol those clutch packs or fibrous disks inside the transmission still wear out no matter what you do but you can always prolong their lifetime by providing proper cooling, correct fluid, filters, etc
  4. Check the service manual for yours here http://rapidshare.com/users/BZTM6R password is pdftown.com
  5. Bump! Where does the filter go? While I'm waiting for my ATF to get here, I took a quick look at mynismo. They have some pretty good stuff on there including those NGK plugs!
  6. Actually its RE4R01A Get the RE4R01A and see this http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=11862
  7. i don't see any adverse effects from it though can anything go bad if it shows a tad higher?
  8. Pics of your lift! Wasn't there a 1000 kb limit according to the pinned post on the first page? Oh well...
  9. !!! That gauge must have some variation! I tested the temperature with a multimeter where the coolant temp sensor is and its reading around 160 F at that point on the gauge. I guess its running perfect now.
  10. Great write-up! Maybe I should do this, I fixed the problem with a wire hanger...
  11. This might be kind of late but I did get rear ended by a Ford Explorer doing 40 mph off a ramp driven by some college student texting on a cellphone... WTF lol Good thing it was when I just took my foot of the brake, I got launched 100 feet forward, quite a speed boost that was! lol Anyway basically my tire carrier got bent into something other than a tire carrier and there was very light damage to the tailgate. I got another tire carrier for $10 down at the yard, no problem. These trucks are very strong! Still drove like it did before too.
  12. Before you guys ask for photos, there is something wrong with the attachment system here... It always says 147.82k of 150k used before you can even upload anything leaving only room for a 2.18k picture. Is anyone else getting this problem or is it just me?
  13. Good to know everything worked out Any idea why the half moon retaining key broke off? I have a 1994 engine in my 1991 as well and no problems with it so far Maybe you don't even need #6 lol
  14. could it be a bad alignment caused by steering wheel slop?
  15. Check the switch again, maybe it was a little off on install
  16. Its the switch, replace it or pull it apart and clean it
  17. Yes that seems like a very good possibility Can it also be a bad steering gear?
  18. I know, it cost me about $180 total...lol I probably spent more money on the truck this week than I did in 2 years lol Still cheaper than buying a whole transmission though 35 lbs of shipping is typical for me, lol...I remember the time I ordered brake parts... UPS must not like me very much these days Also, What the hell is this and where do I install it?
  19. checked that, the same pressure all around and its still doing this crazy thing
  20. I'm going to order 16 bottles of Nissanmatic J from that site and go to a shop that has the flush machine
  21. Yes I looked in the manual and it only says to use DEXRON type but I remember there was a TSB somewhere that the Nissanmatic C should be used to prevent rough shifting when cold. I read somewhere else that Nissanmatic J should work too and here is where to get it: http://www.mynismo.com/products/?id=3912 EDIT: Buy Nissanmatic D instead, J which is now S is for new models, 01 and up.
  22. I'm about to change the ATF but I remember Nissan recommended something to use to fix the rough shifting before warmed up. It was a Nissanmatic or something I can't recall. Anyone remember or know what Nissan recommends for the transmission?
  23. i have fairly new tires, less than 1500 miles on them
