  1. My insurance company hates me now. Last Sunday I was heading out to do some errands and as I'm turning onto this street a 2008 caddy CTS turns in front of me from the other direction. I'm not a huge fan of newer American cars but this car was really sweet. So I'm thinking about the sweet caddy and how GM is really getting it's Sh*t together when he slams on his brakes. As soon as I saw the brake lights I put my foot to the floor. Pathy locks up all 4 wheels(nice abs huh?) and I skid for about 25 feet and hit the caddy which hits a saturn which hits a dakota which hits an infinity which hits a mitsubishi. DAMN, I really wasn't all that close to him to begin with. I think that if he was driving a 12 year old truck instead of a brand new(paper tags) Caddy he would have slammed into the cars in front of him. I swear he hit the breaks and stopped like instantly.

So the caddy had a scratch on the bumper, I'm sure underneath that it was a mess but you could hardly tell that it had been in an accident. All the other cars had varing degrees of damage from no noticeable(the saturn) to a crushed trunk(infinity vs dakota). As for the pathy the bumper got pushed in and managed to put a hole in one of the transmission coolers, so I had to have it towed back to the house. The pass side fender is a little bent and the lip under the bumper is a goner. But I think that I can get away with a just a bumper. I'm headed out to the JY today. Hers some pics ....or maybe not I'm having trouble getting the pics to load so for Know I'll just go ahead and say

  2. where did you find a shirt that is actually made in the US?

to expensive, thats why its outsourced.

    Nice by the way

I'm not sure where Josh got his USA made shirts but there is a company called American Apparel,

all their products are made in Los Angeles. Quality product, happy employees, freaky owner. They are a little more expensive but are home grown. http://americanapparel.net/ :wiggle:

  3. Walked out to the Pathy to go to lunch and there was a wad of papers stuffed under the windshield wiper. I open it to discover the gnomes from Progressive had been by and left me a check for a very reasonable amount. I think I'll invest in some other goodies for the pathy and leave the dent as a warning to other Jeeps to back the f*&K off! Thanks to all for the tips and advice.

  4. Get a couple of estimates and then give them the more expensive one.

I really don't have the time to get multiple estimates, but I got one this morning for about $1200 Which will do all things considered. As far as giving the girl a break I feel like I am by not insisting we go through her insurance. As 87pathy pointed out, she hit me and I just want fair compensation.

  5. So I finally heard from the girl that hit me, or I guess I heard from her Mom. They want me to get an estimate first so that they can consider the option of paying out of pocket. I don't think she understands that I have the option of pocketing the insurance company check. Right now I'm trying to figure out how much it will bother me to have to look at this dent every day. I guess it depends on how much the repair quote is for. So I'm off to the body shop tomorrow morning to get an estimate. Clackity-clak, Ill let you know how it goes.

  6. Yeah, the PO of my 88 couldn't understand why the window wouldn't go all the way down....

Hey man thats just a child safety feature!

good point though, I think I'm going to pop the doors this weekend and see what will fit. The other option is to put some 5in round alpines in the doors and seal up the extra space. we'll see how it goes.

  7. I might be wrong on this. But why didn't you take the claim? Because they would have to deal with the claim since they hit you. You could have a shop give you an estimate on the damage and collect the money. Then use the money to get the tail light from the junk yard, then use the rest of the money for other mods. That's what other people have done on other boards. They have actually used the money to get an after market bumper with a tire carrier. Of course it wouldn't cover the entire price, but it helped to get them there.

I don't know what i was thinking yesterday, maybe I got hit in the head. For some reason I was thinking that I would have to make a claim with my insurance but my wife in her infinite wisdom reminded me that it was the other drivers fault and therefore It shouldn't reflect on my insurance. I also noticed that the damage was worse then I thought so I went ahead and reported it this morning. I know it would bug the crap out of me to look at every day.

Ryan where is that JY at, I was looking at the ones in Grandview because its right by my work but a new place especially one that lets you wander sounds great.

oh and heres a pic for you Pezzy

  8. I just got rear ended by a Wrangler. The pathfinder sustained minor damage- broken tail light, minor dent in rear door, and scratched bumper. The Jeep drove away but will need some serious body work. The entire left fender was bent up under itself and wrinkled all the way to the door.

Looks like I'll be in the market for a new taillight, I can't see the point in filing a claim, theres no deductable but comparing the possiblility of my rates changing vs the price of a new taillight, I'll find a tailight at the Junk Yard. GO PATHY

  9. I need some advice regarding the installation of 6x9's in the front doors of my 95 pathy. The rear (stock) speakers are completely shot. I replaced the front speakers a while back with some 5x7 kenwoods that sound pretty decent so I'd like to move these to the back and take some 6x9's (also coincidentally kenwood)out of my non-running BMW and and put those up front. I don't want to put the 6x9 in the roof because they'll stick out too far and I already have a hard time getting things past the speaker hump(?) as it is.

The Question is has anyone done this, does it involve a lot of cutting, and it possible to leave the stock speaker grille intact? I really think this will improve my ability to hear the cowbell.

    Thanks

  10. thanks simon. I did see that post about the part numbers, which actually made me more confused because the part number in the post is different than the part number recomended by summit. Also he only posted one number which I'm assuming is for the rear, Has anybody odered these for the all four corners?

  11. I'm trying to order new procomp es3000 shocks and the Summit site only pulls up rear shocks for the 95. No pro-comp shocks are listed for the front. Whats the deal? I swear I saw them listed for the front on another site. Are the front shocks different from the rear on the wd21? If I get them ordered today I'll be able to install this weekend.

  12. I just installed a dynomax with 2.5in pipes on my 95 on the advice of someone else that was happy with that set up. If I could do it again I would have gone with 2.25 dia pipes or smaller, I definitely noticed less low end power after the new set was installed. On the other hand once I'm on the highway the pathy really seems to have a lot of power in the 60-75mph range. I'm also not thrilled with how loud the muffler is at high RPMs, it's a little embarrassing driving through the neighborhood, but again with smaller pipes it probably would be a little quieter. Also I got totally screwed by my local meineke(sloppy workmanship), so unless you have had experience with the shop be careful. Cost wise it was like $85 for the muffler and cat from summit racing, and 180 for the pipes and labor to install.

  13. I know I have seen a post on this, if not several posts, but I cannot find any of them when I use the search function. New search seems different from old search. anyway The lower window moldings on three of my doors look horrible. They are rusty and peeling off. I'd be interested in knowing what other folks did to remedy this.

  14. I picked up a used alternator today from a JY for about $50. I had it tested when I brought in my 5 day old battery to be charged  . It all checked out. The alternator install was actually pretty easy one I figured out how to get to that bolt thats in the back at the top. The coolest thing was that as I'm lying on the garage floor looking up at the space where the alternator should be I noticed that the exhaust manifold was missing a nut on one of the studs. "EUREKA moment" the nut that holds the positive cable to the alternator is the perfect size and I just happened to have an extra right there. So the alternator is replaced and the pathy is a little bit quieter. I'm going to have the old alternator tested tomorrow just to be sure but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this will do the trick. Thanks again for the help and support.

  15. Both the websites have sound clips, although they all seem to from big ass V8 engines which is definately a different sound than the V6, I just installed a dynomax, I think its a bit deeper in tone than a flowmaster. I'm really happy with it. I tried to get a clip but it sounded like a crotch-rocket through my cameras microphone.

  16. Thanks, I saw that write up and it makes me feel better about the actual labor of swapping out the alternator. I'm a complete spaz there's an advance auto right around the corner I totally forgot to check that. Prices seem to be about the same. I found a junkyard around the corner from work that actually has 2 pathy alternators but no maximas right now. As I really don't want to mess around with a quest alternator, Id rather go bolt on this time around. Assuming the used alt is good to go I think I'm going to go for the $60 one from the JY. The upgrade would be cool but I'm about to lose the spare car we have on friday so I'm going to have to get what I can before then.

thanks as always for the help

p.s. I'm still a little confused about the whole battery having a bad cell. Could I have had the perfect gremlin trifecta? bad f-link, bad battery and bad alternator? dunno

  17. I just found a great deal on the procomp es 3000. It's 118.79 for 4 at JBCCOFFROAD.com and procomp is offering a $35 rebate which makes it 83.79 plus shipping. Assuming I can get the pathy hooked up with a new alternator(see post in garage) this seems like a better deal for me financially. It also seems like perhaps the pro-comps have a slightly softer ride which is cool with me. Thanks for the feed back on the ranchos, there was nothing here that really swayed me one way or the other so I guess it comes down to the $. I probably won't get the shocks until the weather gets better so I guess I'm still open to your recommendations.

    cheers
