  1. As to the doors not opening while turning the keys. It's probably the knob that is being jammed or ubstructed; since the knob did not make it all the way up, it's almost like if the knob was being puched back down, because of the tension. I have noticed that the margin of puch, is very small on the knob, there really is no inbetween. Therefore it is my conclusion that the knobs are very sensitive. I would assume that any amount of obstruction would keep the knob from staying atop because of the tension, probably from the door lock motor. Basicly, if the knob does not make it all the way up to its full open position, it will come back down. I too have experienced the car wash problem; the other nite I took my rig to the wash and the first thing that comes out of the guys mouth is "we are not responsible for frozen lock's". Now I tell the guy "yeah whatever" and dont really put much mind to the issue. Couple hours later after a 2 hour park, I go to open the door and to my shock, the locks are frozen. Now keep in mind, the temps where at around 0. So that was ignorant of me to believe that my Pathy was immune to this issue. Oh well, after 10 minutes of turning the lock w/ the key I finally got it open, and oh yea, some lock freeze lube also helped. Once the rig got warmed up, no prob. Good luck.....................
  2. Thats a hot rig............Those boyz are doing there thing
  3. Outstanding story! Yet as I sit here and read it, but I cant help but wonder what the expression on peoples faces would of been if there had been a team of Pathy's just going around rescueing them? Can anybody else picture that? I mean what do you think the local Nissan Dealers sales would be that week? Here they come to save the day, mighty Path's are on their way..... I would not mind doing that with some of you guys all day. In this area at least, we'd probably would make the news................
  4. I hate Jeeps! My last Jeep was a 1993 JCLimited, I got so frustrated w/ it and all the repairs that I riped the plates off it and parked the SOB till I sold it. I hate Jeep Sorry if i'm out of line, my apoligies to all offended, but I hate Jeep.................and their commercial, it has to be the most annoying of all time <_<
  5. 23 Today, 24 next month...............
  6. Well, lets start with the basics. Have you checked your tranny fluid? Have you had a tranny fluid service done in past history? If you havent or cannot recall the last, I would defenetly go that route before taking it to the tranny shop............Sometimes it can be the simplest of things...........
  7. I agree, it is a pain! But I did manage to use the Nissan tool for the #6. I actually felt more comfortable using the tool, than using my own. When I did try to use my own, the elbow socket connection kept coming off when pulling the plug out, and there Craftmans, pulling it out was my biggest issue. All those connections would just not hold togheter. The biggest thing is getting your hand in there to manuever. I have big hands, but managed to get it somewhat in there, just enough to manever the tool into the plug. That vac hose is also a real pain also, (trying not to touch it to much) Being real careful not to pull it off...............
  8. That depends on the shop you deal with's labor rate or they may even have a flat rate for such a task, I would say a half hour labor cost. Also you might have some other options. On some Pathfinders you get access to the Computer and can read codes off it and it allows for you to follow some steps and be able to reset the computer. On my 95 I have this access, not sure about your 97, would have to have someone else answer that one. One more way to do this is by removing the Battery cables for about a half hour, after that reinstall them and start her up. This will clear or reset the computer, once you start her up you will notice she may idle a little different then before probably rev a little higher till she adjusts. You will have to drive her a short while to get the comp to make the tranny shifting adjustments, almost like a re programming. So there it is, but dont always put all your chips on this sollution, it could be disapointing. But it could also mean the answer. Sometimes, with so many Systems dependant on the computer, things can start to bug out, thats when you might have to help her along by bringing her back to default. Hope this Helps.............oh one more thing, I do remember the reaction my Pathy had after the ecu reset, the Check engine light came on for the first 15 seconds on initial start up (first time ever) but quickly went away................
  9. I spend 30$ a week for about at around 1.70 a gallon, I use plus. 300 miles a wk.
  10. Oh yeah, by the way these are not the only things that can be causing this. There may be other factors involved. U-joints, gears, etc...........
  11. First, get your tranny oil service done. Two, reset or have your Computer reset. What you are describing is a very common thing. It happens! And it will most commonly happen within the first 5-10 minutes of vehicle operation, also climate plays a factor. If these suggestions are of no help, then if you cant live with it, Hello Nissan or tranny shop. I wouldnt worry about it to much though. I have seen this in almost all automatic Vehicles. Even the 03's. Had a buddy return his rig back after a few days. He thought he needed a new tranny so soon, Dealer says have a seat in the waiting room. An hour later wallah, reset the computer all set sir.........Hope this helps take care........"Also they reffered to it as slamming gears".
  12. My Factory Alarm, uses the horn and the marker light's. It arms 30 seconds after I close the door with the vehicle off. And will flash the light's and a chime will confirm activation. Upon entry a chime will go off for about 10 seconds and end when I insert the keys and turn the ignition. Also I have the alarm set to IMPACT. But it is not very sensitive to sound, I never tested the impact (tapping around the vehicle). I do remember though once I had the truck parked outside in front and a car passed by with a very loud muffler. That did set it off. Hope this helps..........
  13. Nick, I definetly think your speedo is off Dont take this the wrong way, I am not laughing at your situation. It's just that I can picture you passing all these people doing 90, thinking your doing 70, thats all At 65-70 on my manny i'm at between 2700-3000 rpm's. So what he says sounds about right, even though it's an Auto. Take care...........
  14. Jim, the man does exellent work. I would recomend his work to anyone. Thanks again, Eric.........
  15. No problem, glad to hear it was just the fluid.
  16. I would take a 4 door or a 2 door, it dont matter. I love Nissan!
  17. Wow this sounds just like a question I aswered not to long ago. Not sure if it was you or not but here goes. First thing is you have to get those brakes checked. Because I have dealt with this problem before on the Bus fleet maintanence I managed, here are some suggestions. First when that brake light comes on its eighter the parking break sensor or its preasure related. You could be loosing hydraulic brake preasure. Possibly a leak. Now in dealing with the abs light It could eighter be a ABS sensor or the ABS motor itself. You say it happens when you turn at times, have you checked the Brake fluid level. Never had this problem on my pathy though. Good luck............
  18. Hey steve, not bad huh.
