Looks like he has not posted for a while, but I sent him a message asking a couple different questions about this subject. We'll see if he gets back to me about it and if he can provide any additional info or not.

Yeah, that year range ('84-'88 in the US) had a flat top fender well, those flares are rounded top. 89 they changed back to a rounder top again (more like the 79-83's). The flares themselves look like Bushwacker Cut Out Fender Flares But they don't really match that year's flares That is a domestic bed shown in the picture, but the shape of the fender wells were the same

:contract: LOL as soon as I read this post I realized that I had read that in your prior post... go ahead smack me

In order to know which ones you would need to buy, we would have to know what year HiLux they were for... HiLux was the name of Toyota trucks pretty much everywhere in the world other than the US. 1978 was the last year it appeared on the truckssold in the US market. However it did remain the internal Toyota name for them until the 95.5's came out... when they adopted the new name, "Tacoma"

 You just had to remind us... didn't you :sniff:

Yeah I agree.. more and more of them are going that way around here too. :sniff: Most of them blame theft, insurance and fines as the main factor in making them "closed yards". Theft… yeah a lot of small, easy to pocket parts do get stolen. And now day's that can quickly add up to a lot of lost money for the yards Insurance... Sorry but if your dumb enough to walk out in front of a forklift in a wrecking yard, or stand/crawl under a poorly balanced vehicle.. You deserve it! Fines... having worked with controlled chemicals I completely understand this one. Customer goes out to get an alternator and finds that one of the radiator hoses is making it difficult to get too. Customer cuts the radiator hose and spills antifreeze all over the ground. EPA official walks by a few minutes later and sees it. Who gets the huge fine? Not the customer.. Its the wrecking yard that has to pay it.

^^^What he said^^^ But only the part I quoted

lol So true... But I figure that if someone doesn’t like me simply because my opinion is different than theirs... Well then, they never were or ever really could have been, my friend anyway
-
 I'm not the only one who thinks that??? I have said that since its introduction It's the model that IMO should have followed the WD21's
-
For the record... I drive an '88 (WD21) but I like the looks of the 2005 best!

You know your right... I thought about that when I made the poll. But, as opinionated as people have been in the past polls, some would have complained about the poll not meaning anything with the addition of such an option. To everyone… It's a no win, I tossed it out... vote if you like, don't if not. No ones making anyone vote or comment. ***No matter what the options are, someone is not going to like them***
-
This is solely about the overall looks of the three current Pathfinder Body styles. Since the WD21(87-95) 2dr and 4drs are the same body style it all aspects other than number of doors, I have grouped them together.

 New POLL! sly

Yeah that's kind of what I was thinking. The shot of the rear is a bit further away.. so it looks cleaner, but the front one is obviously not a clean split... more like a trail would have done. I would have expected them to be nice clean (and likely re-bonded) cuts if it was a mod to make them fit properly.
-
If you look closely at these two images, you can see that the flares are split front and rear... Front Flare: Notice Rear Flare: ...that could be due to trail damage, but they could also be that way as part of the a modification to make them fit.

NICE!!! The truck and items on top appear to be the same, tires are different though. In the first picture it has what looks like BFG AT's.

One would thing... but then, maybe they just don't care

I was in need of a vehicle and decided that I wanted a 4X4 SUV... it HAD to be 4WD and since I already had an '83 Toyota 4X4, the extra room that an SUV offered was a plus. I was originally looking for a Toyota 4Runner, but those tend to cost more. Then one day, while shopping I ran across a black '89 Pathfinder (4X4, Auto). I did not like it's looks as much as that of Toyota's, but it did seem a little appealing to me. Although not liking the auto tranny I decided to test drive it anyway. That was the guy's plan, it drove great... but while out on the test I pulled off and checked the oil.. thickest oil I have ever seen in an engine! Oh and if you got on it REAL hard from a stop the tranny slipped a little. When I returned he had the paperwork waiting for me... I told him how great the truck was and how smoothly it drove… then I told that him that after seeing the oil I would never buy a thing from him, laughed, tossed him the keys and left. Skip forward a few days in my search... ran across a Burgundy '88 with a 5spd. Problem with it was high mileage. Decided to drive it anyway.. which it drove great. Made an extra stop to make sure the 4WD worked.. no problems there. Also checked the oil Figured this was probably the one I wanted, but with the high mileage the price was still a little high. Got back to the lot and began battling with the salesman.. Finally two day's later we came to an agreement... went back the next day and wanted to test drive it again before buying. The salesman I dealt with was not there so I was dealing with the owner of the lot... he reluctantly let me drive it again Got back ready to buy it and the lot owner said “no way.. not for that price!”. He wanted $1000 bucks more than the price I agreed to. Said that the truck was on consignment from a new car lot and he could not sell it for any less We argued back and forth about it. He was a major jerk and it ending in myself telling him to "go *@%# himself" and I walked out. Next day the salesman I called me back. Asked me what happened and I told him... couple hours later he called back and said he talked to the owner and the new car lot and they agreed to my price. Now it was my time to make a move... I told him after the treatment I got the price would now have to drop by another $500 or no deal. Two day's later I got the call... bought it that day discounted another $500 Since then I have "almost" regretted buying it... but the problems I had early on are over now and I am happy with it Ok about the question... it was purely price... that was the reason I bought it.

From what I recall the Chicken Tax was an attempt to drive up sales of domestic autos, not by increasing quality and value, but by driving up the prices of imports instead. There was an extra tax added to 2 door imports… iirc because they became classified as “sport models” or such. I may be wrong here, and if so someone will speak up
-
Yep, read that long ago.. there is a bunch of good info for those who don't already know.
-
LOL yeah it's all just a matter of opinion.. everyone should take the poll as they see fit.
-
I gave several "possible" divisions on that poll... But I must ask, how can you consider Who cares... it's a truck! Not good, but not bad either. as being votes on the ugly side. One is "who cares" and the other is “not good & not bad"? Those sound very neutral to me.
-
That should be a fun one!
-
Well, this poll could be simplified without making a new one. As it is the first two are on the “Pretty” end of the spectrum and the last two are on the “Ugly” side.. which leaves the 3 thru 5 as neutrals So the vote count would be… ...............20 ............24  ...............4 Even if you consider # 5 as ugly ................20 .............20  ................8 Or if you toss out those votes cast for the middle road (1&2) ......20  (6&7) ......4 That still say’s that the results are not in favor of Pathfinders being an ugly ducking. What does all this mean? That most people on this board like the looks (or that many voted that way just to irritate V6) But really, it says nothing at all. Why? Because everybody has their own opinion, and thats all that really matters. ***This post is IMO of course sly***
