  1. quick question, when i lock the hubs and engage 4x4, i hear clicking from the wheel that has the broken CV. when i drive straight its constant clicking only when i am applying the gas pedal. it gets faster when i give it more gas and stops when i let off the pedal. also if i am going slow and turn to either the right or left, it starts clicking (which is a different louder sound than the previous). this is only in 4wd and is only on the side of the car with the broken CV boot. is it CV thats making this noise? thanks!
  2. i have some silicone spray, but where exactly do i spray it?
  3. i would LOVE to do a sub frame drop, however i'm not too familiar with it and dont know all the parts i need. are the CV axles that 4x4parts sells OEM or are they aftermarket?
  4. now i don't know whose advice to take! i think i will buy the boots just to hold me over, then buy new axles in about a month after a few more paychecks!
  5. i have heard nothing. it seems to have been like that for a while now too. i will probably just replace the boot and see how that works out
  6. after about 9 hours of me and my dad struggling to get everything done, we finally did. i am very happy with the way it came out! got the 2" ac lift, kyb struts and bilsteins in the rear. manual hubs were also installed. also got 32" mickey thompson baja ATZs and 16x8 rock crawlers with 4.25 BS. i had to trim just very little. i took off the splash guards, but kept on the passengers side just to cover the thing that holds my wiper fluid. with those removed will it cause any problems? let me know what you guys think! if you look below, i noticed my CV boot was torn when we were doing the struts. how bad is this and do i have to buy a whole new axle or just the boot?
  7. i know the rear is fairly easy for the AC lift, i am just unsure of which way the springs go, and which way they're supposed to face. there are no markings on the springs. we did the front already, but now the back needs to be done! my car is undrivable until then! any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! -Rob
  8. i am not sure for the rancho shocks, but for your 1998 , the KYB struts are 335016 for the left, and 335015 for the right. for 1999.5-2002 pathfinders i believe it is 335031 for the left and 335030 for the right.
  9. x2^....go to ebay and type in "pathfinder clear corners" and a bunch come up for your year
  10. i just ordered new wheels and tires online. the wheels i had chosen were 16x8 with 3.75 backspacing. 4wheelparts just called me and said that this was an "unusual" backspacing, and it is custom order and would take 4-6 weeks. since i needed my tires and wheels ASAP, the only other option was 4.25 backspacing on the same wheel. i have heard this will not clear the strut, because you shouldn't go over 4". if it hits the strut is my only other option wheel spacers? are wheel spacers for the rear also? thanks Rob
  11. if i am doing my lift in three weeks, is this something i should consider? what exactly do they do and how much?
  12. ahhhh i want his pathy so bad! i wish i had the b@lls to try to fit 33's!
  13. i am not expecting to wheel A LOT, just here and there whenever i want. im going to go with your advice and see if i want the spacers after the lift. i will post pics. thanks!
  14. i am planning on going from 30" to 32" tires with the AC lift, but if i got the spacers i would try to fit 33" tires. maybe not though. so basically strut spacers with the lift springs and manual hubs are not a good idea because of the CVs?
  15. if i install the lift springs, 1" spacers in the front, and manual hubs all at the same time, i will be okay? what about the CV angle with the additional inch?
  16. for extra clearance, i am interested in getting 1" spacers up front and in the rear, but have a few questions and concerns. i know nx4 makes strut spacers, but would i have to get custom spacers for the rear? or would i be able to use these rubber spacers... Here ... I think thats what they are? Anyone know anything about these? Also, would doing this IN ADDITION to the AC lift give too much stress on the CV's even if i have manual hubs installed? im looking for all the clearance i can get, without doing a sfd, and i would love to be able to fit 33's. any help would be appreciated!
  17. hey i can give you part numbers, but the shocks are at my dads so it will be a few days until i go there if your interested
  18. just wondering if 2.5in backspacing on a 16x8 wheel is too low. i like a wide stance but i dont want it to stick out TOO much. what would be my better bet? 16x8 with 2.5in backspacing or 4in backspacing? i cannot find ANY 16x8 black steel wheels with 3.75 backspacing out there. any advice would be appreciated thanks !
  19. i was thinking about cutting the heat shield off... but is that bad? will there be any problems if i cut the heat shield off?
  20. it seems that my exhaust is starting to die on me. first off, the muffler rattles like crazy, im thinking its the heat shield? and also there are noises coming from around my catalytic converter that sound like pieces clunking around inside. it almost sounds like when you stick a card in bicycle spokes. i could be wrong though. question is, should i start rebuilding my exhaust? im in the middle of saving for a lift. so its either deal with the exhaust sounds or wait to get lifted. how much are mufflers, exhaust systems, etc and which ones are good? i have heard of flowmaster, magnaflow...anything else? i have a 1999.5 pathfinder
