  1. what do you mean its slipping? does it rev overly high for what gear its in or what? Im just kind of interested. My tranny is acting up when it shifts from first to second and I was wondering if that stuff my help.
  2. it sickens me to see people get away with crap like that. do they often get caught and sentanced?
  3. I know they can do it, and some people run them like that as a daily driver... hell i've seen one or two around here with 39's or bigger once or twice. But i'm still baffled as to how you'd power the thing. Its too common to see those for it to be a 350 swap.... i dont think it would fit anyway.... well within a reasonable amount of time, money, and practicality.
  4. it is possible that the theives are very smart, and know the inner most workings of the alarm systems, recorded their VIN number and had a key cut at a deal or through a friend, and likewise the alarm remote programmed to the proper frequency. Its the kind of stuff you see in movies but it does happen. Its been happening where i live too (vancouver canada.) People will take down you VIN number, and licence plate number, take the info to a dealer get a key cut and just drive off with your car after you park it at your workplace. Its not terribly difficult to do, especially if you have an insider working at a dealership, because they are supposed to ask for ID and vehicle insurance papers and stuff. Is there no law enforcment that will follow you to the meeting spot and arrest the individuals?
  5. maybe it doesn't turn? jeeze, seriously though, i've always wondered what they have to do to those to make them turn... or even move. Surely they dont have little V6's in em. I guess will really low gearing it would work.. but even then.
  6. i beleive that the problem you are referring to is the Overdrive lock out tihng. Its talked about in a few places on this forums i think. All it is, is the tranny thinking it should stay in OD as long as it can, than instead of dropping into 3'rd gear, it drops all the way to second and revs like mad. Try taking Overdrive off while going up the hill and it should go into third and give you a little more power to work with, without having to drop all the way down to second. Some people have installed some kind of manual Lock up switch in their cab for situations just like that... although im not too educated on the whole thing, perhaps someone could help me out here? at least thats what i think the problems is. Give it a shot, otherwise there may be something wrong with your tranny computer, or a solinoid
  7. thats a really hard question to answer, the problem is, that there are so many variables that you;d have to check yourself. like the sensors and stuff. Once you use the process of elimination on the easy Do it yourself kind of things, you'd have to take it into a shop, look around for a shop that deals with imports mostly, and see if they are familiar with your tranny and its unique problems. get them to look for service bullitens from Nissan. Worst case scenario is that you have to pay the nissans dealership up to 4000 dollars to install a new or refurbished transmission, and hope it lasts. An alternative would be to get a qualified tranny shop, to do a 5 speed swap. it might cost more, or less im not sure, but you'd never have to deal with the ATX quirkyness again. You could also sell the vehicle and hope the people looking to buy don't notice the hard shifting and whatnot. But, I'd hate you for it.
  8. The pathy i just bought this past week, doesn't seem to like to start to well. It usually takes a few good seconds before it kicks up. you think a tuneup would fix it? or maybe its cause of the 166+ thousand miles taking effect. Any thoughts?
  9. this is a really "out there" suggestion, but if you think its just some mold or bacteria related kind of thing (from the swamps), buy a can of lysol dysinfectant and empty the whole thing into the vent system while its going. Im not sure if it will work for you problem, but i read that people have to do it to their 98 - 00 neons due to condensation in the AC/heater system and then bacteria growing in there. Fixes the problem right up and makes the vehicle smell all purdy too! worth a shot anyway.
  10. same here, it has 268,000 on it. seems to run pretty good. Although i've noticed that shifting from first to second (ATX) gives you quite a kick in the pants at lower rpm's. I hope the tranny's gonna be ok. Seems to get better after a little bit of driving though.
  11. I heard that if you put a teaspoon of acetone into your fuel it helps the fule burn more cleanly and gives you better milage. Some crap about lessening the surface tension of the fuel and allowing to burn cleaner and move faster. acetone is about 150+ octane I believe. anyone else heard anything about this? i heard from someone who heard (so the saying goes) that they are going to start adding it to production fuel as an adative to help burn gas cleaner. True? yes? no?
  12. thanks for the input guys. I'm gonna go for, i've been cleared for my loan and I'm gonna see if i can get him to budge on the price a bit, hopefully so that im only paying 7500 after all the taxes and whatnot.
  13. sweet, one more resource to add to the list.
  14. i can't tell what im supposed to be looking at? what is that?
  15. http://members.cox.net/mwojcinski11/NissanTrialStairs.wmv It says nissans on it but I only saw mostly toyota's.. ohwell its still cool. enjoy! I feel sorry for the dude that rolled his cruiser end over end... and then side over side.
  16. yup! busted soime nice holes in his grill too. He didn't care much though cause he's rebuilding the whole truck right now. I dunno if you where talking to me 88, but we actually did use sticks to begin with, and we'd been through that spot about 2 or 3 times already.... i guess we just hit some ruts that where really deep, that we musta missed before. Im just glad he never sucked wome water into the engine on that one.
  17. It wasn't technically me that was stuck, i was just a passenger... sorry its not a pathy, but I still think you'd get a kick out of it. A little roost to get things moving! Its deep than it looks... bad angle. You can see the water line where the mud stopped... the inside of the cab was half full of water! Didn't take a WHOLE lot to pull us out, but i had pics so it was convenient.
  18. I for one havn't tried one of those products, but all i hear about them is that they are a joke and yada yada yada.... im guess about 90% of those people are saying that because they heard it from elsewhere, and the rest is the people that actually have scientific proof and reasoning that it wont work. As for my opinion, I'd be most interested to see someone actually buy and isntall one then dyno it before and after. even if its a small gain, its still a gain. It looks to me though that all it will do is restrict air flow, however i could be wrong.
  19. thats not that bad really. One of my good friends was telling me a story about when he was in his friend's van cruising around Surrey (near vancouver canada), and these brown skin east indian types pull up beside the van in some kind of overpriced sports car, and start laughing histarically at the van for no reason. The driver thinks nothing of it and continues to drive normally. the guys in the car slow down, and then speed up so as to drive right beside the van again... this time they are swearing and yelling at the people in the van for no reason at all. the van speeds up and shortly there after the car does also.... this time with a guy hanging out the window with a freaking Machette!! trying to chop away at the side paneling on the van. The driver, initially scared, realizes the humor in all of this and continues driving his beater of a van at a normal rate. what are these people actually thinking??? why would anyone attack for no good reason like this? The world is falling apart, you are right, and every day it seems more and more like the bad people, gangsters, thugs, and criminals are idolized by our western culture.. its retarded. Also i'd like to add, that just recently there have been a rash of a group of TEN YEAR OLDS!!!!!!!!! stabbing and robbing people in the area... One lady survived by saying that she knew these kids and was going to tell their mom's... the children immediatly fled and covered their faces. TEN FREAKING YEARS OLD!!! and they are dressing like rappers, and stabbing people!!! WTF?!
  20. never owned MTR's personally, but two of my friends have em on their old jimmy's and they are a GREAT tire. They Last a really long time, great on the road with minimal road noise, and stay straight as an arrow at highway speeds. The traction on those things seems really good aswell. especially in mud. additionally they look bad arse! MT/R's all the way.
  21. its nice... but really makes me think the DCX concept engies are smoking more crack than they should. The daytona was a CAR. not once, but twice. Apparently they are coming out with a new charger called the 4 door 2006 Dodge Charger Daytona Hemi R/T... wtf is with these guys? its not even a real hemispherical piston engine, its just a catch phrase now!. sheesh.
  22. i personally dont think it would be worth 100 bucks. I'm new to pathy's in general, but for what it is you could spend 30 bucks and do the same thing yourself. Anyone had any problems with water and dirt getting on the filter? I would think it would be a problem.
  23. thanks for the input, I'm lookin forward to buying this thing so i can take it offroad with my buddies back home. Not to mention the reliability of these things. From what i can tell it seems like things don't often go wrong, but if they do, its only 1 of a handfull of common problems. Albeit some are mighty expensive to fix, but knowing that when it is, it will be reliable again for quite some time is a really great thing! Lookin forward to spending some more time around here. Thanks!
