  1. mjotrainbrain volunteered to manage the Truck of the Month section 14 months ago and has done a great job handling it. Tonight I'm happy to announce that in addition to the TOTM section he has decided to become a full forum-wide Moderator as a member of the Mod Team! Please join me in welcoming him to his new position.

  2. Edit: you must be on an incline and a very steep incline reduces eruption. Yeah, if my cooling system isn’t already low then it starts going everywhere when I start the engine and then again when the thermostat opens up. I just let it go all over the place and it’ll eventually calm down. If you park on as steep of an incline as you possibly can then it’ll reduce the eruption a bunch. I didn’t see any bubbles until mine was all the way warmed up and the thermostat had opened. I did have bubbling in the coolant reservoir AFTER I shut off the engine though. I did not have: -Boiling over -Uncontrollable overheating(replace missing coolant and all returned to normal) -White smoke at the tailpipe -Oil in coolant -Noticeable coolant in oil -Misfires -Noticeably cleaner than the others spark plug -External coolant leaks from head/block mating areas -Sweet smell in exhaust I did have: -Many gallons of unexplainable disappearing coolant -Bubbling coolant reservoir(only after shutting engine off— then eventually while engine was running also) -Almost completely clogged radiator -White film on spring of radiator cap -Clean #6 piston surface -Greenish yellow goop on oil cap -Swollen radiator hoses

  4. The perspective from the angled parking spaces adds to the effect, but I saw this silver R50 at Wal Mart, then had to snap a quick pic of the height difference. It’s amazing how much bigger lift/wheels/tires can make the whole truck appear. It was a pretty clean looking R50 btw. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  6. Onroad manners are fine without the swaybar. Marginally more prone to understeer but nothing drastic. Removing the front sway bar is what causes dangerous changes in handling. Many vehicles do not have a factory rear sway bar but very few have no front sway bar. I'm also running polyurethane bushes front and rear which really helped roadholding too. Not cheap though.

  7. Yeah, the R50 LSD is good, but if there's no weight on one rear wheel or it's on an exceptionally slippery surface then it won't work as the breakaway torque is lower than that needed to push the vehicle forward. The LSD in my R50 makes some pretty bad clunks & other noises sometimes. I've given up worrying as it hasn't got any worse in the 25,000 km I've owned it. I figure it's the differential as I've replaced every single bush in the rear end, the shocks, and have no sway bar.
