  1. About the color, it is right that it looks a bit like an indian festival... but this was not the inspiration. Years ago when I first bought my terrano (late 2006), I was thinking to gradually bring it up to standard using the local mechanics. Mistake. I then decided to do repairs myself. As you all have noticed when you buy a white car, the white engine bay make it easy to work inside. when you have a black car the light you have to have to see anything inside maybe develop some comfortable heat during a winter sunday, but certainly become a nightmare in the tropics. This is when I started to paint the bay silver. The first job i did was on the heads and I painted the covers plus some protection and other in the color I found on the shelf at the time. The choice was between blue ford and this red. The yellow came after when I got new nissan upper arms, already rusty. When I did the block, i used silver (like the heads aluminum) not to add a fourth color. The advise I would give if anybody was tempted, make you choice at once. Silver is the one which will make the work in the engine bay much easier. Other than that I generally like to be unnoticed, low profile, invisible... I missed this time. . Philippe.
  2. Luckily they did the same mistake with the seat and the wheel... Ph.
  3. Finally guys she is back home after the engine rebuild. The engine runs beautifully and it is a lot of fun to drive. You all suppliers and specially Rob "Alkorahil" thank you for your help, without you it wouldn't be possible to do such a repair. You guys in the US who have access to overnight delivery do not know how lucky you are. Here it takes weeks to get the parts in hand. I took these pics in the yard this afternoon so that you can enjoy. Philippe.
  4. Getting back my terrano soon.

    Merry Christmas

The lights were already up so I decided a three days job: empty, clean and paint the pool. Merry christmas from the tropics to you all guys.
  6. This message couldn't be sent to Precise1: Happy birthday to you. Thank you for all the time you spend on this site and the valuable info you give. I wish you the best for the coming year.

  7. In re connecting the harness, I realized that One ( or more ) dog chewed it... So I patiently did some electrical, style forensic scenario. There are some years one should stay in bed. Philippe.
  8. Looked at them all. Very informative. Thank you. Philippe.
  9. Got the same problem for my Terrano, it is not a straight bolt on, I'll have to modify when I have time. But it will look nice on the man's car. Philippe.
  10. Fed the mosquitoes all week end. Steering in, front suspension in, exhaust in, front diff connected. Thanks Rob for all these little parts which make my Terry look like a two years old car. Bosal definitely should have a quality control !! It was an interesting week end. Philippe.
  11. Sunday I re installed my front diff. Wow the guy is heavy. After a very dry season, we have heavy rain and mosquitos by the billion. Imagine being on your back fighting with the diff and these little vampires eating you alive. Life in the tropics. . Philippe.
  12. Remember the cost: breaking these rules may result in a zombie attack. He said it! Philippe.
  13. I am very interested in factory settings and the front train, but I can't help with the lift. No experience here. I am sure you will find literature here to get to the end of your project. Winter time is a good time for reading. Good luck in your project. Philippe.
  14. Anyone can live in the third world. The third world is not limited to a country with a colorful flag ... it is a frame of mind!

  15. I also changed pistons, seals and dust protectors. The previous dust protectors were not (i guess) seated properly and this is what happened. The only one to blame is me, I changed them three years ago. Hope this time will be a better job. Philippe.
  16. This week end: re installed the wheels, drop the car from blocks prepared the engine for installation, pushed the car in position, hooked up the engine and sunday afternoon caught me. Get to talk to Rob as I need more seals. Next time I work on it the engine should be inside. Philippe.
  17. Is it still cold or have you found the solution? It would be interesting to see the front. This looks like you have it now on stands and wheels hanging. Is it the case? Then this situation seems to be normal. 5523Pathfinder gave you a link, you should remove the adjustment bolt (the one you show on the vid), jack up your lower link, remove the "anchor arm" (nissan terminology) and re install according to the given procedure. If somebody has interfered with your front suspension before, you could check the position for the torsion bars, one for left, one for right. They must not be mixed. For identification one end of the bar has a R the other has a L, the mark has to be installed at the rear. No need to say more. There is no reason that you could not get it right. Even if this come too late, it would be interesting that you tell us the outcome. Philippe.
  18. These bolts and nuts are not of an easy access but if you have to cut, you can get nissan parts right here http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/topic/18653-genuine-nissan-parts/page-30 When re installing, use anti seize it works perfectly. Let us know. Philippe.
  19. Last week I was re installing mine after so many months so I did not remember first the procedure. Everything was clean like new but the front splines did want to enter the front socket (arm) more than a third of the depth. I battled for a while until I decided of being intelligent and read the shop manual. They tell you to jack up (well before you secure the car and release the tensioner) the the lower arm until the rubber stops the move. At this point the socket lines up with the bar and a kid would push it in, This mean a lot of tensions inside, not only the torsion you can release with the adjuster but also flexion of the bar. Doing this could put everything in a position where the BFH mentionned above will produce the final and expected effect like magic. Good luck. Philippe
  20. It seems that Cory got popular in a short time... maybe he hit the target . Ph.
  21. I don't plan to do it but one side has abnormal play and I expect this mirror to fall one day. Better to know what I'll have to deal with now. I think it was mounted originally with convex glass and this what I'll replace with. No flat at all. Thanks for the help. Philippe.
