  1. Well i wasnt thinking of using that trans, I know this engine came stock in certain euro pathfinders/frontiers so i thought maybe use a trans from a frontier or something with a xfer case. and a light intercooled diesel with 170hp and 300ftlbs sounds like it would be sweet in a 2 door pathy. esp since the intercooler on it is top mount, should fit good, maybe put some vent holes in the hood for it. or since subie sti's come with a similar set up, use a subie hood scoop and be set. I mean, im not saying im going to run out and get one now lol, but down the road a little, this could be a option.
  2. So last night I had a dream and my 87 pathy had a diesel in it lol, so today I was playing on the net and found this http://www.ebay.com/itm/NISSAN-NAVARA-FRONTIER-D22-2-5L-TURBO-DIESEL-ENGINE-AWD-TRANS-JDM-YD25-YD25DDTI-/281166567643?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4176d558db&vxp=mtr and wondered, how hard could it be to swap into mine? I tried looking up if anyone has ever put one in a older pathy cause i know it came stock in euro pathfinders. but has anyone ever heard of swaps with this? maybe you could just throw a frontier or xterra trans and xfer case behind it and make it work? whats everyones thoughts?
  3. Lol so whats funny is just by chance i swooped some procomp es1000s from my buddy this weekend (well at least rears, got some bilsteins from another chevy for the front) they were for the rear of his chevy pickup and fit just fine, I was just laughing cause when I first posted on here I had no idea about them and now, im rocking some new shocks on my pathy ha ha
  4. I took them off my 84 yota but they are just some aftermarket alum wheels that i painted. im going to repaint them one of these days when i paint my pathy, which should be within the next month or so. And i just used a 2" center in/center out magnaflow muffler, not sure the model number but I will say, works just like i wanted, Its got a nice rumble at idle and up to about 2k, but then isnt super loud after that. I wanted a little more rumble but I didnt want to draw a lot of attention to me and it seems to be pretty spot on. Ive run a super 40 flowmaster on my last one and it sounded good, but was just pretty loud so I decided to try magnaflow. Its a straight through design so you can see right through it but you would be amazed at how much it quiets it down lol
  5. Ha ha yea, when i was doing it I saw that there was a possibility of that if I wasnt careful and took me a sec to find that sweet spot but if you dont have a jack to go high enough, its another option lol. Oh this weekend I threw on some shocks, I happened to luck out, one buddy had some new pro comp rears that just happened to be the right size for my rear, and another buddy had a set of used bilsteins that still were in good shape that fit my front, so I threw them on and rides pretty decent lol
  6. Yea, i can see this being a much tougher job on the floor. The last trans I swapped was on my yota and i used a engine hoist with a chain through the shifter hole to lift or lower my trans. I should have taken pics of that lol, worked pretty amazing.
  7. ugggghhh i wish i had known they were having a half price day!! my buddy told me aboput it when it was done and now im mad lol, could have grabbed up a bunch of little things i needed lol
  8. I ran some on my last pathy and they didnt last too long, if your going to be driving down gravel roads alot, they will just get work out fast. Ive been debating this same thing right now, Im going to SAS my path in prob a year and am thinging, do i want to drop that much in shocks i cant use later on, but I think i am going to pick up some shocks. A year is a long time and if they are really worn out, its only going to get worse and more wear and tear. Id prob just get a set of the 3000s to get you by till your SAS
  9. lol yea, ive always been one of those guys that has top work in the dirt but my buddy is a mechanic and through him ive become friends with the owner and he lets me use the shop when i need to. I still do plenty of work in the dirt since my driveway is dirt but for big jobs, I go to the shop and throw it on a lift. So now she is driving and running pretty good, sounding pretty good, so next on my list is change the stereo and soem interior things, put my cb in it, and then I can start with my sliders and bumper. going to try and keep things simple on this one since its going to be driven a lot of miles. I should prob start a build thread lol, i just havent yet since i know that itll prob be a slow process, but i prob will, after i start a new photo album that i can post pics proper ha ha
  10. So yesterday I changed my fluids, FD,RD,engine, trans, xfer and welded on a magnaflow. Sounds much better. Oh and did a alignment since this weekend I reindex'd my T bars, wheww i had some mean toe from that lol
  11. Right?? I got it up on the rack and was just thinkin how itll be even bigger if i ever put a doubler on it lol. Oh so last night i changed all my fluids and welded on a magnaflow muffler, sounds much better. Now back in high school when i had my first pathfinder i would have told you it was too quiet and i would rather have my super 40 flowmaster, but now that im trying to keep it low key I really like it.
  12. Was very busy on this 3 day weekend, did clutch, flywheel, slave, plugs, wires, cap rotor, plugs, re index'd my T bars, seafoamed my engine, changed my valvecover gaskets, and added a AFE filter. Got a couple more things on my to do list this week but im trying to get this thing back to glory after its been neglected from the owner I just got it from. https://www.dropbox.com/s/kfg9277gp4rqdgw/IMAG0247.jpg?m https://www.dropbox.com/s/nusjrz9hs1w69xi/IMAG0248.jpg?m https://www.dropbox.com/s/nusjrz9hs1w69xi/IMAG0248.jpg?m https://www.dropbox.com/s/dr1r0aild8v4r6a/IMAG0251.jpg?m
  13. Dang it, I dont get it. I even read the pinned thread on posting pics and Im doing it just like it said lol, maybe the pics are too big?? but here is some links for just some of the weekends stuff. https://www.dropbox.com/s/kfg9277gp4rqdgw/IMAG0247.jpg?m https://www.dropbox.com/s/nusjrz9hs1w69xi/IMAG0248.jpg?m https://www.dropbox.com/s/xcdhzkmwcdhwvu6/IMAG0249.jpg?m https://www.dropbox.com/s/dr1r0aild8v4r6a/IMAG0251.jpg
  14. ok lets see if this works lol, ive been having trouble posting pics so maybe this will work lol
  15. Oh and just a little update, I did my clutch this last weekend, re-index'd my torsion bars so i sit level now (higher than my other two though), did a tune up, pulled my valve covers off too change the gaskets and painted them with my air cleaner lid, seafoamed it, and then tonight im welding up a exhaust with a magnaflow, swapping all my fluids, and maybe a alignment since my front end is sitting prob 4 inches higher than when i first got it (sagging bad). So the smurf is gettin some serious love
  16. Hello! Yea you might see my pathy around your area here and there lol, my buddy lives kind of by Great America and I go up there to visit him and tinker with his giant k20. I will be going yo hollister here and there. plus I still go to clear creek still so I can shoot. But Id be in for helping get a Hollister trip together. Maybe try and set soemthing up in early Oct or something so its far enough awaty people could plan to come??

i kind of dropped the ball on this one lol, i did it but didnt take pics, my hands were so greasy i didnt even really touch my phone. but as far as things went, my first time changing a clutch on a pathy (my others were autos), took me 8 hours from turning it off to firing back up. and of course some chilling in between. but i bet now that ive done it this time, could be way faster the second time

  18. Yea, I call it 4 link with panhard bar, I should have been a little more specific lol. Im not trying to confuse anyone I swear ha ha
  19. I believe that guy builds them and sells them. All in house so he is able to keep the cost down on them. Im just waiting till I get some more $$$ to order mine but my buddy has them and loves them. Ive checked them out and talked to the owner and it was enough that in the next couple months, Im going to drop a few hundo on lights
  20. yea that looks great!! lol and i feel you on the tint thing, my pathy came with ALL the windows tinted, thats including the windshield. and i like tinted windows as much as the next person, but now im always on the look out for cops cause in California you cant have your front door windows or the windsheild tinted and i have both now lol. and maybe some LED lights wuold look sweet on the front. This guy does some really nice lights and they are actually pretty decently priced. http://sidetrackedoffroad.com/
  21. Well a month or two should work. That will give me plenty of time to get a couple small things done and make sure my rig is all tight. I dont like going wheeling and being "that guy" that has something stupid break lol. Like in the past ive gone out and and my battery tray came loose lol. had a couple trucks stopped on the trail so I could strap my battery down. But yea, one of these days I was going to maybe see if there was enough interest to try and set up a trip and get a few pathys out there.
  22. Rear locker, one of the best mods you could do for wheeling.
  23. Ha ha yea, its just a photo editor that I have on my phone to lighten pics up. Im thinking about starting a built thread this time. I know it will prob be awhile before i do ant serious fab but im constantly tinkering on stuff and it would prob help me keep track all the work ive done. I have a day one pic and its not pretty, I picked this pathy up in Oakland, not sure where thats at, watch gangland on tv lol. Im trying to deGhetto this thing and bring it back to off road glory! lol
