yea, cause ive talked about wanting more power and my buddies are like, throw a chevy 5.3 in it, now i know its a awesome engine and i want to build one up one day but NOT for my nissan. I want to build this thing all nissan so that way when its done and i got wheeling and show up the other guys, i wont hear any of that excuse BS like "oh that thing isnt really even a nissan anymore" so if/when i do a engine swap, it will be a nissan engine lol. and yes, i actually was looking into a titan engine the other day too. cause ive seen a few lately that were pretty cheap. cheap enough to grab my attention ha ha. also ive seen some of the v8s out of the older infinities that didnt look bad either. those would be sweet too. but damn, the thought of a turbo diesel in my pathy just touches me in all the right places ha ha

difference between 88 and 90 pathy (headers)
calibeater replied to calibeater's topic in 86.5-89 WD21 Pathfinders
hmm, well here is the deal lol, i do have a cali model but i just smogged it. these headers wouldnt pass smog anyways but im thinkin that in 2 years when it comes time to smog again, it might just be a full wheeler and ill just green sticker it. id like to pull all my smog stuff off and just run it but we will see what i end up doing lol. but thats for letting me know what was the deal! -

difference between 88 and 90 pathy (headers)
calibeater replied to calibeater's topic in 86.5-89 WD21 Pathfinders
so i think your right, i found something on another forum that said "the emissions hookups for the 90+ and the 86-89 headers are different" but he could not say what the difference is. im still looking but not finding the exact difference. cause if its nothing too major, i could figure something out for it. -

difference between 88 and 90 pathy (headers)
calibeater replied to calibeater's topic in 86.5-89 WD21 Pathfinders
here is a link to some on fleabay that i was thinkin about. cause if i have to pull my stock manifolds off, i want to put headers back on. and i just dont have the money for some doug thorneys http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pickup-PaceSetter-Shorty-Header-70-1198-/141020001110?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Year%3A1990|Model%3APathfinder&hash=item20d5727356&vxp=mtr -
so mine is a 88 4x4 5 speed v6 and i just want to get some cheapy headers since my manifolds are messed up and i have a exhaust leak, but all the pacesetters say for 90+ with all the same options. So I called and asked why they wouldnt fit, they couldnt really give me an answer other than something was different. Does anyone know what i would have to do to make some pacesetters for a 90 fit my 88? thanks

Ha ha yes think away! I mean, yea this could all be in vain but at the same time, could be such a sweet rig. my pathy is prob just going to stay how it is now, since i started this thread, some things have changed and im going to be putting my money elsewhere for awhile, but one day, i think think this would be bad ass! plus my pathy is running and driving great now so i think ill just enjoy it for awhile till something breaks lol
-
lol well "if" i ended up trying to do a swap like this, id prob see if i could use a newer pathy or frontier trans since they came in those vehicles. But in the end, i think it would be easiest to just call up advanced adapters and see if they could make me something to use my pathys trans i have now, the 5 speed. they say they can make just about anything work together, so if i went that route, i might just have to challenge them ha ha. and if (when lol) you get a cummins, you wont regret it. mine had a programmer/intake/exhaust and whew, loved that torque. esp on the freeway. you would be cruising, someone gets in front of you all slow, and you just lean into the throttle some, no down shift or anything and next thing you know, you went from 60-90 pretty quick. Im just sad i dont have mine anymore. think bout it every day.
-
Yea, i used to have a 24v cummins and that was the best truck ive ever owned. and i think a 4bt could be sweet but yea, thats so much weight and would throw your weight balance off. i mean, ive rebuilt a C7 before and do all my own work on my vehicles, so i know i could work on that diesel. Now a chevy v8 would be bad ass and ive seen people do it before, but i kind of want to stick to nissan. so ive seen those nissan v8s out of the q45s go pretty cheap, so one of those would be pretty bad ass. and i think if you get the right one, they are 6 bolt mains so they would hold good power. But a little turbo diesel would be cooler i think lol. esp if you had a doubler. Ive been watching lots of videos on youtube of the YD25 and it keeps making me want one more ha ha. you just have to look under terrano or navara and they will start popping up.

Oh, here is a cut away of one of those diesels so you get the idea. I looked it up and guys can get like 220hp and over 350ftlbs from them pretty easy. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/8c/YD25DDTi.jpg
-
Yea, a 4bt would be amazing!!! But, they are also about as heavy as a BBC i believe. 700lbs. One of the reasons I thought that engine would be cool was not only is it a small light weight diesel, but also that thing revs to 5k!! can you imagine how sweet that would be?? Now I will say, finding parts would be a B!&^@ here in the US, you wold have to order parts from South America, Australia, and Europe, but one of these days when I get to start this new job, i might just try to do this swap lol. Dare to be different lol. If not, i might just fold and do a different swap and just keep it gas, ive thought bout a VG30DE too, I think those are 230-240hp and 200ft lbs and bolt to the trans, and i think maybe even the motor mounts, so we will just see what the next few months brings
-
Well i wasnt thinking of using that trans, I know this engine came stock in certain euro pathfinders/frontiers so i thought maybe use a trans from a frontier or something with a xfer case. and a light intercooled diesel with 170hp and 300ftlbs sounds like it would be sweet in a 2 door pathy. esp since the intercooler on it is top mount, should fit good, maybe put some vent holes in the hood for it. or since subie sti's come with a similar set up, use a subie hood scoop and be set. I mean, im not saying im going to run out and get one now lol, but down the road a little, this could be a option.
-
So last night I had a dream and my 87 pathy had a diesel in it lol, so today I was playing on the net and found this http://www.ebay.com/itm/NISSAN-NAVARA-FRONTIER-D22-2-5L-TURBO-DIESEL-ENGINE-AWD-TRANS-JDM-YD25-YD25DDTI-/281166567643?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4176d558db&vxp=mtr and wondered, how hard could it be to swap into mine? I tried looking up if anyone has ever put one in a older pathy cause i know it came stock in euro pathfinders. but has anyone ever heard of swaps with this? maybe you could just throw a frontier or xterra trans and xfer case behind it and make it work? whats everyones thoughts?

Lol so whats funny is just by chance i swooped some procomp es1000s from my buddy this weekend (well at least rears, got some bilsteins from another chevy for the front) they were for the rear of his chevy pickup and fit just fine, I was just laughing cause when I first posted on here I had no idea about them and now, im rocking some new shocks on my pathy ha ha
-
ugggghhh i wish i had known they were having a half price day!! my buddy told me aboput it when it was done and now im mad lol, could have grabbed up a bunch of little things i needed lol
-
I ran some on my last pathy and they didnt last too long, if your going to be driving down gravel roads alot, they will just get work out fast. Ive been debating this same thing right now, Im going to SAS my path in prob a year and am thinging, do i want to drop that much in shocks i cant use later on, but I think i am going to pick up some shocks. A year is a long time and if they are really worn out, its only going to get worse and more wear and tear. Id prob just get a set of the 3000s to get you by till your SAS

So yesterday I changed my fluids, FD,RD,engine, trans, xfer and welded on a magnaflow. Sounds much better. Oh and did a alignment since this weekend I reindex'd my T bars, wheww i had some mean toe from that lol
-
lol yes updates please!

Was very busy on this 3 day weekend, did clutch, flywheel, slave, plugs, wires, cap rotor, plugs, re index'd my T bars, seafoamed my engine, changed my valvecover gaskets, and added a AFE filter. Got a couple more things on my to do list this week but im trying to get this thing back to glory after its been neglected from the owner I just got it from. https://www.dropbox.com/s/kfg9277gp4rqdgw/IMAG0247.jpg?m https://www.dropbox.com/s/nusjrz9hs1w69xi/IMAG0248.jpg?m https://www.dropbox.com/s/nusjrz9hs1w69xi/IMAG0248.jpg?m https://www.dropbox.com/s/dr1r0aild8v4r6a/IMAG0251.jpg?m

time for clutch change and all new fluids!!
-
feel free to picture stages of the clutch change. I can see myself in the same boat very soon.
-
i kind of dropped the ball on this one lol, i did it but didnt take pics, my hands were so greasy i didnt even really touch my phone. but as far as things went, my first time changing a clutch on a pathy (my others were autos), took me 8 hours from turning it off to firing back up. and of course some chilling in between. but i bet now that ive done it this time, could be way faster the second time

How many others have confidence in the Pathy
calibeater replied to unccpathfinder's topic in General Forums
Yea, I call it 4 link with panhard bar, I should have been a little more specific lol. Im not trying to confuse anyone I swear ha ha -
I believe that guy builds them and sells them. All in house so he is able to keep the cost down on them. Im just waiting till I get some more $$$ to order mine but my buddy has them and loves them. Ive checked them out and talked to the owner and it was enough that in the next couple months, Im going to drop a few hundo on lights
-
yea that looks great!! lol and i feel you on the tint thing, my pathy came with ALL the windows tinted, thats including the windshield. and i like tinted windows as much as the next person, but now im always on the look out for cops cause in California you cant have your front door windows or the windsheild tinted and i have both now lol. and maybe some LED lights wuold look sweet on the front. This guy does some really nice lights and they are actually pretty decently priced. http://sidetrackedoffroad.com/
