Hello from England

Hi everyone WAVEY

My name is Ed and I'm from Lincolnshire on the east coast of England. I just bought a WD21 Terrano R3M from Japan and imported it to the UK. It will probably do more work towing my fleet of old Datsuns and Nissans around than it will off road but I'm in the process of making a few changes to make it a bit more useable on the rough stuff. So far, apart from repainting the bumpers and grille, I've lifted the front up a couple of inches and sourced some 31x10.5's on some 8x15 steel rims (currently away being powder coated gloss black). The truck already had sump guards fitted and I was pleased to see it had an LSD as standard as many 4x4's I've seen here don't.

I love the truck! It's well equipped and a real pleasure to drive. It's only got about 62,000km's on it so it drives pretty much like new still. It's a TD27 with an auto and had the adjustable shocks, a/c and all the electric goodies plus a rack mounted spare. I'm really glad to have found this place as there's very few of these in the UK and I don't have much technical info or access to parts. I think the engine etc is probably the same as the Terrano II sold here (R20 model) which helps a bit.

I need to get hold of some fender flares to accomodate the new wheels as it came without any and I plan to lift the body too to make sure there's definately enough clearance for the tyres. I have a few other minor changes and upgrades I want to make but the truck is so much better than I expected it's not really in need of much! I'll take some pics of it tomorrow as it is now but for now here's how it looked before leaving Japan (annoyingly the front fog lights were stolen before it reached these shores) ...

Best regards,

-Ed

Welcome! WAVEY

Nice looking pathy! But if you're going to go wheeling those running boards will have to go (IMO any 4x4 with running boards might as well have "This car has NEVER been offroad" painted on the sides :P )

I think we have two other members in the UK, maybe three? I'm not completely sure...

Also those clear corner turn signals are sexy! I want a pair.

And as far as the fender flares are concerned, just remove them, I think pathys look a lot better without them, and 31x10.5's don't stick out far enough for the police to give you any trouble (at least here in California)

I hope we can answer any and all questions you might have! :aok:

Thanks for welcome :) The running boards are definately going as they serve no useful purpose at all. I think my Terrano much have been owned by someone who lived in the city in Japan as it's so low mileage and has no sign whatsoerver of having been off road. It arrived with snow tyres fitted too. Where I live it's pretty rural and there is plenty of opportunity to get it dirty and explore it's offroad abilities :D

Here's my 510 which is what my WD21 will occasionally tow to events. It was KA24DE powered but I'm currently fitting an SR20DET for a bit more go P...

I've had a couple of Bluebirds of that vintage. They were sold badged as a Stanza in the US I think. My last one was a ZX turbo. Great car and suprisingly fast but it rusted to bits very quickly. The other one I had as a normal 1.8GS which curiously never seemed to rust at all! Here's a pic of my old Bluebird turbo before the dreaded tin worm claimed it...

Good to know there are others from the UK here. Slick, did you live here?

what does the 510 run?

The KA24DE I ran was totally stock and on 185/55x14 street tyres it wheelspun it's way to a 14.30 so not trememdously quick but with better traction I expect it could have reached the 13's. The SR20DET that's going in is about 250hp so I guess that should be good for low 13's along with the suspension changes i'm making. It could do better on the strip but I'd have to compromise the handling to get better traction off the line. I use it more for track days than drag racing so I don't really want to do that. On the track it's a giant killer though. :aok:

Here's a couple of pictures from my local track, Cadwell Park...

DROOOOOLING

Yummy.

Welcome to NPORA. Sounds like you and I have quite a bit in common. I'm slowly...very slowly working on a Datsun/Nissan collection. I had an SR20 powered 240sx/Sileighty that I was dumb enough to sell. I'm actually picking up an 84 Datsun/Nissan (last year for Datsun) S-12 Silvia Hatchback in a few weeks here. I'll have to post up the pics of it later. I'm also keeping my eyes out for a 280ZX and 240ZX.

thanks for posting the photos ed! that looks like a mean little machine! I had a mazda miata before my pathfinder and I soooo bad wanted to swap the sr20det into it. that little 1600 that came with them had enough power to get you into trouble, but not enough to get you out :D

Funnily enough, that's what my SR20 came out of... an S13 Sileighty look-alike. I built it last year and competed in the drift championship although I only fitted the Silvia front end toward the end of the season (just as well as I crashed it in the first round, demolishing the front end!) I had a great time and learned a whole bunch along the way but the cost of competing left me in some debt by the end of the year (I did finish 5th though!) so I thought I'd give it a miss this year. I have got a Japanese S13 Silvia Q's too. That was originally a CA18DE but I've swapped in the old KA out of my 510 and will be selling it on soon as it's done. The drift car was pretty tired after a season of drifting so I'm just pulling off the best parts and scrapping the rest. The SR and Nismo LSD are going in my 510.

I've had a few S12's in the past, the last of which I had a modified CA18DET in it. That was a real fun car. We only got them here with the SOHC CA18ET or the non-turbo FJ20E but no VG30's. I did briefly have a Japanese S12 Gazelle RS-X with the turbo FJ20ET. That car was crazy fast for a stock one. A friend of mine now has the engine from it and installing it in a 1978 Datsun 810.

We never got the 240SX here. All our S13's are badged as 200SX and have the CA18DET. I have found one in a wreckers before and seen and engine for sale though which is how come I had the KA24DE in my 510. I'd love to build a turbo KA one day. Did the WD21 ever come with the KA motor?

Hey, Welcome! Though I'm something of a newbie here too!

Glad to see there are a few Terranos/Pathfinders in the UK!! I'm in Canada right now but will most likely be shipping my '94 Pathy back to Blighty when my contract expires at the end of October. Not sure where I'll end up when I return (could be Cornwall or North Wales!), but we'll have to go wheeling some time!!!

Cheers Mate

Mark

Hi Mark, nice Pathy you got there! Let me know when where you're headed when you return here. A WD21 meet up for a bit of wheeling would be cool :cool2: Hopefully I might even find some othes here with them.

Had a little play the other day. Funny to think that this is probably the first time my trucks been off road in it's life! Now I can't wait to get those steps off and get the bigger treads on and go find some real rough stuff :D
