John Boy
Put a amp meter on your truck with everything running.
Mr. Pickles
I wanna say the stock one is only like 65amps, very low whatever it is. I'm sure I'm pushing it to the limit and beyond with my stereo and lots of lights. The swap to a Quest minivan alternator yields more like 130 or so if I remember right. Are you going to some sort of aftermarket one instead?
vengeful
The VG30 Quest alternators are 110A, the VG33 Quest alternators are 125A.

vengeful
No, they are not a direct swap. In a nutshell, you're going to have to grind a couple spots on the casing, and swap pulleys.
MikeV
It's not a difficult mod if I remember correctly; I believe 88 had a write-up :contract:
GrimGreg
Our stockers on the WDs are 90A IIRC.
TheInstaller
The stock alternator on my 89 was 60 amps. I just upgraded to the '90 Maxima 90 amp alternator. Only an extra $10 and I just needed to swap pulleys.
