Hi guys

I was thinking about putting a wire directly from the batt to my dist through a relay from switched off the key will this put too many volts to the dist and kill it or is there a possibility that it might run better with true battery power getting to the ignition

thanks guys

It won't put "too many volts" to the distributor, but you may set a check-engine light. I think the ECU shuts off power to the coil under certain conditions.

whats the problem? is it not doing something you want it to do?

i personally would not do this for the above reason ie. engine shut down under certain conditions

why not just have your relay switched by the factory power wire to the coil....

that way you won't get a SES light and it will turn on and off like it supposed to.

If you REALLY want a beefy spark you can pick up a megasquirt and convert to a DIS system.
