R50 Trans cooler?

This is probbably a stupid question, but does the R50 have a factory transmission cooler? I see some type of aux. cooler in behind my front fasca but by tracing the lines I would have to guess this is an oil cooler. Yes, No? (have not got a repair manual yet)

 

 

I've never had an automatic 4x4 before. Any problems with these trans. overheating?

No, the transmission cooler is built into the radiator. I'm guessing that is either an aftermarket cooler, or an oil cooler.

mine just has the air cooled one infront of the radiator nothing through the radiator :confused:

It's probably a factory transmission cooler. They came on the 96-98 Pathfinders, but I'm not sure what models they came with. My 97 XE w/ Sports Pkg has it. Here's a diagram of the ATF flow through the radiator cooler and air cooler.

The photo in the first post shows the ATF cooler. It provides supplemental cooling in addition to the ATF cooler that's inside the bottom of the radiator.

Hmm...wierd, mine didn't have one.

 

Maybe that is part of the Towing Package....

IIRC, the ATF coler was discontinued as a factory-installed item on 99+.

That is an Oil Cooler. I know because I just had my replaced by the dealer today. Warranty!!
