Fun in the Snow

Well, had to go to a site to lay out some logging for a client. Had been in last week, only a skiff of snow, no issues. Last few days it has snowed a fair bit at the higher elevations. So getting there was going to be dicey.

Pathy was working well, no slipping. My partner even commented on how well we were doing. Then, going up a 6-8% hill we came to a complete stop. Step out of the truck and sink into about 40-45 cm of crumbly dry/wet snow. Backed down a bit, we had plowed up a wedge of snow about 30cm high up the hill before stopping. You could see the entire underbody dragging through the snow, some of the ruts 10-15 cm deep. Had no idea the snow was as deep as it was. Pathy did amazingly well for the kind of snow it was. Of course, no place to turn around and had to back out 3 km  .

Just goes to show how good these trucks (even R50s ;) ) are in the tough conditions :aok: . A full sized Ford F150 7700 following us could not get as far as we did.

I do not generally pack a camera with me unless I expect to need it, so no pictures.

I know, I know. :nono: Bad Trainman, no pictures.

But what was worse, we did not get to the site, so no money made today but still have to pay the GPS guy and my helper :(

Oh, well that is the way it goes.
