I have a 94 SE, with chrome pkg, tire rack, nerf bars, all the factory goodies... except adjustable suspension. So after hours of reading thread after thread, I decided to find out for sure if I have a limited slip diff. So I jacked up the back, put it in neutral, had my wife spin the rear tire to see if the opposite spun in the same direction, it didn't and to my dissapointment... NO LSD. Crap!

So I am trying to find out a few things...

Who makes a rear locker for the WD21? I have looked at Lock-rite, Detroit locker, OZ, and ARB. It looks to me like ARB is the only one who supplies Nissan, but it is a air locker, and I want a full time locker, or a really good limited slip.

I have looked all over the site, and can't really find anything. PLEASE HELP!

PSST... Try the advanced search function using "locker" (all forums), <90 days, search entire post and you find something like...

Ok, I'm done giving you a hard time... If that doesn't answer your questions, let me know... ;)

Don't worry, Precise has nothing better to do, really. :D I just bought the LockRight here although I'm still waiting on shipment, so I can't vouch yet. Still, the price is decent from others I've seen. So that might be an option for a source. I've also got a 94 SE with open diff. I'll post up once I have the thing safe and sound.

implying that an lsd is better than an airlocker???

you would rather a full time locker than a part time locker???

What I was stating is that a full time locker such as Lock-rite is a much more economical choice that a part time/selectable locker such as ARB. I was pricing the Lock-rite full time locker, and purchase price is about $295.00 and for install I was quoted about 5 hrs of labor @ $55/ hour. I am not sure that this is even a good choice for $570.00 since I wheel maybe once a month??!!

If you Wheel Once a month, I dont think it would be in your Best interest to get a Full Time Locker. :nono: Unless your into Tire Wear. Think about your Rear Wheels turning corners always locked in the same position. -thnkboutit- The ARB might be more expensive, but it gives you the option with the flick of a switch whether you'd like it locked or not.   Worth the price in my books if your daily driving it with Bigger Tires and only wheeling once a month. :aok: Perhaps someone far more intelligent then I can chime in a better response but thats what I was thinking.

That's only with a welded differential. Tire wear is near-normal for me so far and I've had my locker in for three years now. Tires aren't meant to last forever, you know. ;)

By the way, nobody makes a spool or minispool for the H233B, all available lockers are "automatic" lockers which free-wheel around corners...EXCEPT the ARB (when locked) of course. Just so you know.

Just to add my 2 cents.

I've been running an ARB for a few years now and love it. I have been mostly using my Pathfinder for snow runs lately and I've noticed allot of the times my rig handles better with the locker disengaged. This is because when you have an automatic locker/spool/or really tight LSD, you vehicle will want to walk or slide from side to side. Or end up sliding down the hill, which could be bad if you are driving across a hill. This is where an open diff is nice. I have found most of the time in packed snow or ice an open diff is much safer and easier to drive in. If I were in deep snow it helped to lock the locker in.

On a related subject, I believe ARB is the only company to make anything for the front axle.

I have another 4WD that I do most of my hardcore wheeling in and I run ARB’s in both front and rear. I've noticed it is much easier to steer with the ARB's off, esp. with no power steering and big tires. This is because the tires want to travel at the exact same speed when the locker is engaged, and when going around a turn one tire needs to go faster then the other.

Also the difference in cost is also because of the parts supplied. As somebody mentioned early lockrights only replace the side gears inside your stock carrier. (This works only on non-LSD models) On non LSD you can't install a lockright unless you get a non LSD carrier. An ARB replaces the entire carrier, just unbolt the ring gear and bolt it on the ARB and set up as usual.

PS if anybody needs help installing a locker let me know. I’ve done quite a few.

Sorry for the long post.
