Hello all :D

I have a 95SE with 130k on it. I acquired it last summer(6k) after litterally driving my 88SE into the ground as I swore I would (260k and now the brother-inlaw's mother is driving it) Long Story. Then when I was bragging about my new 95 my manager says, I have a 92, $2500 later I have 3 Pathfinders -alcohol-

I have never really been a grease monkey or a more mud the better type of 4x4'r.

And what ever I do to the 95, I will eventually do to the 92.

I have not decided if the Daughter will be driving the 92 or if it will become the Hunting Machine.

The List:

Broken Exhaust Header bolts Passenger side, had 2 left. Due to time constraints and availablity had to use a junk yard replacement on the warpage.

Pacesetter has replacements and I will be getting a set. Need a Good link on where I can buy a set of ceramic coated ones, due to the heat that they are noted for any little bit of heat reduction will help.

BTW I can license these in a non inspection county if needed, sssh if someone has a better Idea.

Mass Air Flow??? (Engine seem so starve for more air when its hot out) Only one I have found so far for a after market is Venom. Suggetions.

Intake systems, got the KN Filter already. Those intake Inserts??? Turbonator.com LOL

Ignitions systems?? Better than stock?? MSD?

Converting from the Clutch Fan to a Elictirc Fan System, reduce engine drag and increase air flow. (The 92 will eventually be doing some puddle jumping)

Good/Bad Ideas

Skid Plate: Black Panther has a great one imo, only challenge is the amount of snow we get and if its to much the front end will lift. Did that with the 88 and the plate I had made.

Replacement Shrouds for engine compartment.

Trouble shooting:

Factor Fogs, do not work, Switch on console behind e-brake

Suspension Toggle Switch, What is this for? fixing/repairing???

Left front turnsignal: Cracked by previous owner was rusted out, swapped it with the 88 worked for 2 days now nothing. Signal on dash flashes really fast.

Left rear brake light, swapped bulbs worked for about 3 min or until driven for 3 min. Now if i just reset the bulb it works until you put it back in the holder and go down the road. (Annoying)

Condensation Drips on passengers foot occasionally, 88, 92 and 95, I never sit over there so it does not bother me :D

For me I just want to get a bit more out of it, and have what we need for those occasions when the directions do include after you leave the paved road.

Thanks

Thomas

Oh man. That's WAY too many questions for one person to answer.

I'll take the first one.

Pacesetter headers suck. They're made in Mexico by children wielding stick-welders. I'd aim for Thorley headers instead. Yes, they're more expensive, but they are WORTH it. I had a set of Pacesetters and after looking them over, I re-sold them on Ebay and called it a loss. The crossover pipe had a hole the size of a US Quarter blown in it with a torch, then the other pipe was welded on top. Crock of crap, man.

You can get the Thorleys with chrome-nickel coating, which will undoubtedly also help prevent premature weathering or rusting of the headers.

About the registration: well, if you took off the EGR equipment to make it easier to put the headers on...and didn't use a catalytic converter...or some such thing...it'd sure make things easier on you.

Don't replace that MAF yet. There's a pinned topic on how to clean your MAF, and I was experiencing the same problem you were about a month ago. Cleaned the MAF and I got better mileage, a smoother idle, and the sputtering in high temps was gone. Give it a shot. Takes about 5 minutes or so. Just be very gentle with the elements in the MAF.

Good luck. :aok:

the suspension toggle from sport to comfort adjusts your shocks. Nice idea and, unbelieveably, mine still work. Many people survive with out it. If you need new shocks, I'd just ignore the adjustable ones and use the switch for a solenopid for a good set of offroad lights

K9,

Nice Rig:) Same set up as my 95:) with the exception of mine being Black.

I can not find anthing any where on the sport/comfort, not even sure witch setting it is stuck at.

Local dealer wants $75 an hour to trouble shoot that and the fogs with a minimum of 3 hour and no garentees

i def wouldn't pay that. My foggies dont work either (but i think its the cracked lenses not an electrical problem)... im honestly not sure if my suspension switch works or not.... i've tried it on both and notice a difference... but its so subtle it might just me thinking im noticing a difference... for anyone that has a working switch is it quite easy to notice?

hey casey. The sport/comfort switch controls the dampening of the factory shocks. Pushing on the comfort side will give a nice, cushy caddilac-with-blown-out-shocks ride. The sport setting tightens up the shocks and gives a firmer ride. I never have mine on comfort because it seems too mushy for a vehicle of this weight.

as for the bad circuits, your best bet is to get yourself a test-light and start working your way down. I've found that these trucks have alot of electrical problems because off all the fancy $hit equipped on the SE models. These problems won't be your last! I just had a bad 4WD switch that kept grounding out on the T-case and blowing mad fuses, son!

try to avoid taking it in to a mechanic for electrical problems, because they usually rinse you for minmal actual work. Get a Haynes manual because they have diagrams of all that crap in the back of the book. If you ask 88pathoffroad nicely, he might even give you a link to a download of the factory service manual --comes in very handy

post some pics of your truck too, sheesh
