Rack and pinion replacement

New to the site, in need to replace my rack and pinion, that being said. Rack and pinions are expensive. Has anyone tried different brands that are budget friendly and that you'd recommend?

I bought the steering box for mine from BBB/Vision OE. It's sloppier than the one it replaced, and it leaks, so maybe give that brand a pass.

 

Might try a wrecking yard, see if you can find one that's lower mileage than yours.

I put an SKP brand one in my VW last year. So far so good.

I can't speak to your car specifically but in almost every instance personally, a rebuilt OEM exchange unit has lasted far longer than an aftermarket unit.

While a 4WD conversion might be challenging, there are plenty of other options to enhance off-road performance like the off-road bumper, rear bumper, fender guards, high speed internet providers and skid plate you mentioned.
