Engine ID

Just brought a 95 SE 4x4. Needed to replace starter, auto parts folk tells me it's not a '95 3.0 starter. Question is, how can I ID what engine the previous owner had?

I have heard that the later 3.3 starters will fit, and have a different design. Could be that. I would just go on Rockauto and pull up a picture of a 3.0 starter, and a 3.3 R50 starter, and see if one of them looks like what you've got.

There were like 2-4 different brands of starters used. Do you have pictures?

I have only ever seen one starter on the wd21 v6 pathy. Auto parts store people tend to be stupid...Sorry for the weird picture sizes but this may help. I would think any of them would fit since the blocks are the same and you can interchange the flywheels between them.

Parts store guys are dumb. I don't even think they're different auto to manual IIRC
