Custom CB Antenna Mount

Hey everyone I finally made an account on here after a very long time of just looking at the forums!

I'll jump right in! Me and my friend built this cb antenna mount in his garage with some spare metal lying around. I screwed it in to the same hole that the tailgate stopper attaches to, so no drilling was required. All it took was shaving down the rubber stopper 1/4" and bending/welding the mount together. The main reason I'm using the antenna is to fly my American Flag, as I do not have a cb radio, though I have been thinking about it. Let me know what you guys thing! (:

Good idea. And welcome to NPORA officially!

Be advised, when you create a thread on Crapatalk it will say error and you'll hit retry, meanwhile every time you click again it will actually create a thread. So simply click cancel after the first warning. The thread will be posted.

Welcome to the forum.

That's super cool and very clean! Is the flat part of the mount gusseted underneath so that it won't easily bend down if the antenna hits something? The antenna will be able exert a pretty large torsional force to the 90° angle where the horizontal and vertical faces meet. Looks like the mount was welded, so it wouldn't be that much more difficult to tack on a small gusset there.

Nice window sticker, too.

Welcome and nice mount. I did a similar one but mounted it low since my antenna is long. I like your no holes drilled idea I had to drill mine. Seems we have a similar sticker in the same spot as well!

Thanks for all the support guys!

CDN_S4: I realized that as soon as I logged in on my computer :P I will definitely keep that in mind in the future.

XPLORx4: I did weld a gusset onto it for that exact reason. Its in the back near the body so you can't really see it in any of the pictures

Underoath: Oh yeah! Representing Not Of This World too, I see (: I'm hoping to get a HE>i sticker sometime in the future as well.

Honestly I have no idea what antenna it is. My friend just had a few old cb antennas lying around in his garage and he gave one to me. All I know is that it's 2' tall. I may get a bigger one so I can fly a full size flag.

I'm resurrecting an old thread.  How's this holding up?

Sorry I haven't been on here in awhile! It's still doing it's job of holding the antenna there haha, and I never put more than that one screw in. Over the summer my kayak got dropped on it pulling it off the roof which snapped the antenna, but the mount help a-okay. I replaced it with a longer antenna and it seems to still work just fine. I just wish I had made it more carefully, the antenna doesn't stick up perfectly straight.
